It seems to have led to a massive backlash towards him, which is no less than he deserves. At the very least it should humble him.

To me the doctor had it in his power to [sp]disable all her weapons, pathweb connections (with her help), and anything else to make her not a threat[/sp] but instead of taking her into the tardis and leaving her on a planet to live at piece, he leaves her without thinking of taking her along. I think this will hurt the doctor in the future.

I dislike River Song, too, but Oswin seems like she has more potential, plus she's more likable.

The first episode fucking ends with them driving on a beach while being chased by a helicopter, which ends with Gwen shooting it down with a rocket launcher Jack pulled straight out of his ass. What the hell. That's ridiculous coming from a show which had an episode where an alien killed people for their orgasms.
I think it's all they could do considering almost every character from the original series is dead.
