Abridged post: why do you say that bb?
What's your problem? Is no one allowed to have an opinion that doesn't idolise Doctor Who? Tell me why I should go, I really want to know.
Is there an image of you somewhere, just so we can compare? Sorry if I happen to have no patience for such needless remarks which instantly mark you as a rather dislikeable person. But, if that is what you were going for, good going.
So[sp]River Song wasn't the really young one then? Meaning this is the first time we've seen her out of order? This is inbetween The Wedding of River Song and Silence in the Library for her, right?[/sp]
[sp]It was indeed. A little nudge in the direction of the Library =( [/sp]
My twitter was full of girls masturbating over Matt Smith so stick it up your arse. You look like the guy that wanks at the back of the bus.
See, how come no-one noticed that the statue was moving once in a while?
"Hey John, where did the Statue of Liberty go?"
"I don't know, probably just playing hide and seek again with the US army"
Episode opinion: Good. Rushed. Basically crying out "Can we have two parters back". Cliff Hangers are a defining part of Who. We had a whole episode of confidential about them in the first series. Parts of the episode get left behind. The threat this episode and last episode was rushed. Though the drama is good. Two parters allow you to balance them equally when you're trying to tell a story so grand.

I think I love this new companion. Full on love. Rewatched Asylum today and my heart fluttered.
I don't normally watch Doctor Who (really think Matt Smith is ugly) but I watched today's episode. It was okay. Better than last week's, so anticlimactic.
Ooh, did I piss off some Who fans? Let me explain: Matt Smith has a porridge face and I can't stand to watch him act. David Tennant was okay but by the time he left I decided I was too old for Doctor Who anyway. This latest episode was decent as far as series finales go. I really hate how this show makes its own excuses for plot holes and techno babble though. And my last point: there is no denying that the episode with the black cubes was completely stale.
I think the reason you've been showered in dumb ratings is because you've said you don't watch the TV show because you think someone is ugly which is pretty sad.
Your last point sucked because you can't just say "THERE IS NO DENYING" without sounding like an opinionated moron. Maybe some people do deny that? Maybe they have a different opinion to yours, you sound really unlikable when you state your opinion as fact without any sense of irony.
There's my reasoning anyway. By all means, state your unpopular opinions, but don't throw a hissy fit when people react negatively to it.

One, not watching a show because of how the main character looks is stupid.
Two, if you've outgrown doctor who and are too mature for it, why do you keep watching it?
I get told that it's a bad reason, but that's only from a few sperglord Who kids that I associate with the show. It was mostly to show the relationships between Amy, Rory and The Doctor. It also drafted in part of his past and recognised people that have travelled and assisted him in the past like The Brigadier. It offers the audience a look at the possible future of Amy and Rory. Also when The Doctor explains what happens to his past companions. The audience knew the duo were leaving and this was a way of sort of explaining what that means with an enemy thrown in at the end.
The villain I thought was very cool. It was Steven Berkoff man. Like I wrote essays on him across the 5 years I did drama. A religious cult cleansing the universe based on prophecy and hugely advanced tech is surprisingly something the show has never done which every other sci-fi has. Reminded me very much of the last series or two of SG-1.
[editline]29th September 2012[/editline]
What I found subtlety touching about this episode after thinking about it is The Doctor literally dragged Amy into the TARDIS after the crack absorbed Rory. After this he never touched Amy. He kinda knew it was the right thing and he shouldn't stop it. Which probably made it worse.
She does that =)
I paused 1 second in as I'm listening to music and the smile she's giving is just too much. Weird to think she's older than Karen. Quite excited for a new era. I always love change. I think if Amy and Rory were staying another series I'd be a tad annoyed.
One thing I've always liked about long staying companions is it gives a much fresher feel to a new companion.
Why did you enjoy it? Was I making a point in the first place? Maybe if you're going to be like this then you should stop replying. Either way, I will, so you can disregard that question.
I enjoyed it because it was fun and interesting. It wasn't perfect, the ending was tacked on, but that doesn't mean it wasn't enjoyable. As a whole this series has been great, if I'd just watched the last two episodes I would probably agree with you, but I didn't because I know how a t.v show with a narrative structure works.
[sp]Well just saw the Doctor get bitch-slapped by River[/sp] paused the video giggled for a few minutes and then continued.
Eh, really liked every episode of the season thus far but this one just felt so weak.
The angels just aren't scary any more which didn't help either :/
I loved that episode! Angels felt scarier than Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, but not as scary as Blink.
I cried three times which was pretty awesome. [sp] When the Doctor read "Amelia's Last Goodbye" (Loved how pissed off that made him), when he accidentally showed that River had actually broken her hand, and when Rory/Amy got zapped into the past for the last time. I'm glad the Statue of Liberty didn't play a big part, but then I'm annoyed it was even included in the first place.[/sp]
I'm hoping that when the next doctor regenerates, he has some kind of [sp]scar on his wrist[/sp] where he didn't have enough [sp]regeneration energy[/sp].
I think that'd actually be kind of awesome.
Would be awesome for River to kind of slip up and say something like from Heroes. [sp]"You look different without your scar"[/sp]
[sp] Or something similar, I'm aware he'd look completely different anyway.[/sp]
Also did anyone else think the reading glasses really suited Matt Smith at the start
Yet another also, but the music [sp]when they both jumped was brilliant[/sp]
Spoilers ahead. Generally in this thread we openly discuss spoilers openly after airing.
Eh, really liked every episode of the season thus far but this one just felt so weak.

They can be it just seems Moffat isn't writing them at all like Weeping Angels.
It's every statue now. The emphasis on not blinking which made them scariest was gone. Lots of moments nobody was looking at an angel. The giant Angel moved kinda slow. They all moved kinda slow. This time they had a creepy plan but they just were awful.
It was the mystery that made Blink work so well. Not only not knowing about The Angels but not knowing what was coming up. The bit The Doctor says the transcript ends and gives one last warning, you feel so helpless and terrified as you know something bad is coming and going to happen to stop the transcript. We had a sort of moment like that with the book River wrote and the scene The Doctor turned and told Rory he had just died and the Angels were coming and Rory was trying to come up with ideas on how to run and The Doctor told him nothing could be done. I was for a scared. Then it all just fixed itself. Everything moved so fast which just means the Angels didn't work. There were so many of them too whereas in Blink we thought there were just a few, we had no idea how many. We had two people in an old house against god knows how many angels. That scene Sally left that guy totally alone was the scariest as we had no idea what was going to happen to him and then the Angel makes us jump.
The key part of the Angels. The jump moments. Gone in favour of implied evil and characters moving in the dark. I mean when it's really dark you're not completely fucking blind. I think if Rory was trying to avoid his fate in the dark with everybody being helpless it would've been scarier and sadder if Amy then sacrificed herself to an Angel and ended up in the wrong time both trapped in beds apart.
Blink had basically no budget and was such a small scale story. Now Moffat has money and control he basically wakes up, goes to his computer and vomits his imagination out with no limits and just goes bat shit insane every time and tries to tell these massive grand stories about armies.
"Let's have loads of Daleks on screen. More than ever. All the Daleks! Get me all the Daleks! And snowey mountains! And explosions! And TWO alien planets! And a divorce! And they ALL forget The Doctor! ALL IN ONE EPISODE. SO MUCH HAPPENING PEOPLE WILL LOVE IT".
"Weeping Angels. In NEW YORK. LOADS OF THEM. The statue of liberty! River Song! A damaged one from a collector! A time distortion stopping The TARDIS landing- WHICH IS INSTANTLY FIXED. He goes to China. Only for a second! I'm cheeky like that. Old Rory dies- INSTANTLY FIXED. A PARADOX. SO MUCH IN 45 MINUTES. SO action packed. Terrifying."
When Blink was "Monster only moves when you see it. It's weak. Only a few. No Doctor. No help. Old house. Involuntary time travel. I better write this shit quick because it's filming very soon and they kicked me off The Dalek story for that shit. I'll write the whole thing on a train".
"Library planet. Stay out the Dark. A few zombies. Future Doctor companion"
Simple stories are the best. Wacky story every week makes both loose the impact.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
But like I said I liked the episode overall. Emotional punch. Good fun. Like Asylum. But it feels like it should've been spread over two-episodes. Like Asylum. But then when Moffat has done two-parters since he took over they end up being so off the wall and even more rushed because he thinks "Oh two episodes, I better fit double into it" instead of "I better pad out what I got".
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
Also "River breaks her wrist- Instantly fixed. She's mad at The Doctor- INSTANTLY FIXED"
I mean seriously. Moff man. Slow down. Lots.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
"Doctor is sad he didn't get a proper goodbye to Amy and can nev- INSTANTLY FIXED"
What about Rory? Didn't get any goodbye.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
A whole companion reduced to redshirt in the last few minutes.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline]
Fun fact: Steven Moffat loves throwing our favourite characters off roofs. Love it if this is how Sherlock is solved too. He wakes up in the graveyard with Moriarty.
Amy Pond... Goodnight sweet Queen. <3
Oh god I just had a horrible thought.
You know how at the end of Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, Brian goes travelling for a while?
What if he decides to travel again at some point, visits New York [sp]and through chance comes across his son and his wife's grave.
That's just gonna be fucking ouch.[/sp]
On the [sp]tombstone[/sp]... Amy [sp]Williams[/sp]. Nice touch to show that in the end, Amy was more loyal to Rory than the Doctor.
Did anyone else think that "One Psychopath per TARDIS" line was a real kick in the teeth?
"When Brian woke up, [sp]his son and daughter-in-law were missing,[/sp] and the Doctor was never heard from again!"
Just watched now after being out before.
The music was perfect and it was a brilliant episode. So emotional.
I can't help but feel this was the right time for the Ponds to leave. Loved them in the show but Doctor Who will definitely be better with the new companion. Change had to be made now but it was a brilliant send off.
That was one hell of an episode.
[sp]And I believe that brings Rory's "death" total to 10, and Amy's to 6.[/sp]
