Saw a thread title on DS which raised two questions instead of the intended one. Why don't I try to answer them just for fun.
Do you think Jenna could top Amy and Rory?
Splits in to...
Do you think the new companion could top Amy and Rory?
How is anybody supposed to answer this question (I say, trying to answer), when we don't know a thing about the new companion. But the most important thing is that everyone remembers what it is that keeps this show going, and to keep an open mind when new faces appear on the screen. Given their time and influence on the show over the past 2.5 years, to some, Amy and Rory leaving could be almost on par with David Tennant leaving... and nobody could possibly replace these two characters. Until somebody does, and they charm your socks off. Different people like or dislike different characters for different reasons. There's no definitive answer. Just ask yourself whether you're enjoying (or vice versa) the new character for who they are and how they're being written - instead of comparing her to Amy/Rory/Rose/Martha/Donna/Sarah/Susan/Ace/Peri/K-9...
Do you think Jenna could top Karen Gillan?
Again, it's personal preference. I've thankfully had many years across different television series and dramas to familiarise myself with Jenna's range and ability, whereas I've primarily only had Karen's Doctor Who performance to go off. My own verdict? Yes. To me, Jenna's performances have been preferable to Karen's. Whether it be as an inadvertent murderer, a schoolgirl inadvertent murderer, a Titanic stewardess or... well I'm not sure how to politely describe Susan Brown. But her emotive acting is what has always stood out to me. She makes me feel something, whereas I've always been somewhat cold towards Amy, except once. In Asylum of the Daleks, Karen struck something for me which really worked. Just a shame it came at such a late stage. But overall, if we were to compare actresses, I would have a clear favourite - regardless of my obvious bias.
Yeah I started this plothole debate but it technically isn't a plot hole. Everything is explained. But explained awfully with new silly rules. We just have to accept it and move on. This happens with time travel fiction all the time, specially running this long.
Oh okay, the overall feel I was getting was that people weren't really acknowledging the fact that they were explained in the episode. Rated you heart, thanks for being a nice guy about it!
I saw this and the first thing I thought was Doctor Who, Not sure if that is sad or not.

I really wanted to like the latest episode, but god damn it Moffat, you're doing your best to stop me. The statue of liberty angel I knew he would do, but it didn't make it any less painful and stupid.
The fact that he keeps ignoring all previous continuity and pulls bullshit like the regeneration healing thing is really starting to get to me, as well as his overuse of convenient plot devices. The ending really bothered me to, since there were so many other ways they could have left, considering the last episode was dedicated to giving a logical reason for why they would leave, and that was just thrown out the window. And no River, you didn't need to be there.
Probably the best part was the fact that Matt Smith did a brilliant job with the Doctor, and for we now have a two episode streak of him not just being incredibly wacky the whole time.
Sorry, angry rant over, but Moffat really needs to get his shit together.
I liked Moffat when he had less money and less power to write his own continuity.

I'm guessing the drop in quality, and the fact most of the other episodes were done by other writers, was because the BBC wanted him to pretty much focus everything on Sherlock this year? Then save up all the good stuff for next for the 50th anniversary next year?
I wish they'd held off Amy and Rory leaving till next year, so they could have threaded it together better, and just left this year stuff to a random set of adventures, will a little foreboding and stuff thrown in. But I suppose all the contracts and people leaving gets in the way.
So the weeping angels are now actual statues converted into Weeping angels? I don't like that at all. I always thought they just disguised themselves as statues when someone looks at them and that isn't what they actually look like. I'd prefer it if they were actually how the Doctor said they were nonexistent and lifeless stone when you look at them, but that isn't true.
I just realized, aren't there several points where Angels are Looking at other Angels but they still move? That makes what happened at the end of Blink pointless.

I'd blame the directors for that, not telling the angel 'actors' to look away.
I'd blame the directors for that, not telling the angel 'actors' to look away.
I think there were points when there were angels in the same room and they'd all be able to see each other, therefore unable to move. The lights could of gone out though. I can't really remember if something like that happened, so i could be wrong. The Angel that got Rory and Amy shouldn't have been able to do anything either. I think the Angels have been partially ruined, just like the Cybermen were (with the whole full body conversion and love/whatever can beat them thing).

please don't start flirting with gibbs alex kingston thanks
My opinion on the Angels is that they are much more frightening in smaller numbers. It may just be me.
Although I actually like to think that they could somehow infect other statues and add them to their ranks.
Would regulars of this thread like a title change now that Rory and Amy have left the show?

Nearly filled my walls with dr.who posters.
Kinda crappy panoramic, I filled out the missing parts with solid colors. Also forgive the unrelated poster in the bottom right, that was a print test I did with my new printer earlier in the year and the colors look so pretty I hang it up.

My destructive brother only recently moved out of my room and I have plans to redecorate it in January. Currently unemployed so saving up is kinda hard.
Also on the note of the upper left image: Why can't we have an episode of Dr.Who where he visits the Northern Lights? Or even sees them from outerspace!
needs more rory
needs more rory
You'd be surprised how hard it is to actually find posters with rory on sales. The bottom left and bottom right I bought in a sale at the local HMV shop for £4 together. The center right is a custom made silk poster which I ordered from China cost about £4 with shipping. The Northern Lights and Dalek Asylum posters are from the play.com 3 for £8 sale. I'm still waiting on stock of the third poster which is the exploding Tardis Van Gogh poster, which imo would be the best one to put in a frame.

Here's the posters that were in the sale:

only 2 have Rory in and neither are to my taste. Though if I had the money and space, the "to victory" and dalek blueprints would be amazing framed images to have on the wall.
I'm aware it's hard to find posters with Rory in them that are good.
It's sad :(
needs more Eccleston
Finally bought some cheap frames from Wilkinson's and framed two of the holographic things that came with the series 6 boxset.
They only had five frames, and three of them went to Twin Peaks art cards.

The Doctor goes to Oz?
I've read so many interviews over the years of cast, producers and writers of Who saying how cool it would be to film in Australia. I think Matt Smith said he'd like to go to Australia or New Zealand to do a story in a forest about giant spiders.
Then Peter Jackson got excited and started asking to do some Who. And the producers said "OKAY YES IF WE CAN AFFORD YOU BUT CAN WE FILM IT IN NEW ZEELAND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE?". Now the MP of Australia wants to do it too.
So here's my idea. How about next year instead of filming a few episodes in America, Europe and Mexico like the last couple of series' could we instead maybe just have a couple of episodes filmed in Oz/NZ. They're pretty close and if you're gonna fly all that way to do some filming why not make it worth it and film in both places? New Zealand would be beautiful in a fantasy-like episode. Imagine a Doctor Who episode with the fantasy backdrop from Lord of the Rings. Australlia has an expansive outback, beautiful beaches, radiant sunshine and massive forests. You could easily film like 3 episodes in Oz, it could so very simply double up as an alien planet.

"Back at Christmas" is a good enough thread title. Or something looking forward. Rather than pessimistic fan hate which just makes us all look bad.
go full on sad: "I'm sorry Brian"
