Or just Handegg. :)
We dont, we call it Rugby.
Pretty much everyone on this world but Americans call it rugby.
And even that is much better in the UK.
Look, the majority of facepunch are europeans. Please call it Rugby from now on.
Ravens are looking good this year. I think this time Flacco could lead them to the Super Bowl. He's been close twice, and now he has a top tier offense.
add on the fact that they got Boldin, so maybe he can have a decent target.
You probably forgot about the most important guy in Football, George Hallas:

My cousin is the kicker.

Look, big deal.
If it's called football in the states it's going to be called football in a thread about it.
While i admit it's a stupid name, that's it's name.

Rugby and American football are two different sports.
Rugby is played in the United States too.

I have never seen Rugby, it sounds awesome though. There's obviously no kids leagues, for good reason, but I've never heard of a semi pro league, or pro for that matter.
Rugy is basically non-pussy American football (i.e. no body armour etc.).
go pack go
Rugy is basically non-pussy American football (i.e. no body armour etc.).
shoulder pads enable you to hit harder and helmets because we're not dumb and take care of our faces this is not pussy stop trying to start shit

I'd rather play safe than get hurt.
Rugy is basically non-pussy American football (i.e. no body armour etc.).
I can safely say this is bullshit.
Rugy is basically non-pussy American football (i.e. no body armour etc.).
Let me ask you this, would you rather play football, with almost no potential for injury, or play rugby, and get your head split open and completely bruised everywhere on your body.
Tell me this, mister person from the Internet calling another sport pussy, when either of the sport's athletes could fucking kill you and rip you apart in no specific order.
Damn you got a long name son
Go Eagles?
Brofist.
Can't wait for their first game against the Packers :3:
Also you should put Elway in the OP.

But this isn't true, man.

ali used padded gloves (and could still kill someone with his hands)

players can acquire degenerative diseases from constant hits, brain damage etc
I guess no one is enthused about the history. :saddowns:

I played American football for 6 years, 4 of those years on a varsity high school level.
I also played rugby for a period of time here in college.
Each sport gives you a different kind of hurt. In rugby, you get a lot of cuts and scrapes. You get tackled, but rarely get hit. Hell, I think it's illegal to tackle above the waist in rugby (correct me if I'm wrong), so you rarely get heads banging and shoulders driven into chests. Constantly hitting the ground and sliding around hurts a bit, but it really isn't too bad. Keep in mind that I was playing with quite large dudes on an official college team, it wasn't bullshit rugby.
American football is a completely different animal. In football, the focus is on hitting with tackling as something that is done post-hit in order to ensure that the ball carrier goes down. Even with pads (which don't protect you nearly as much as people think, they just prevent severe injury), football hurts. My list of injuries sustained in football is ridiculous. I've torn tendons in both ankles, torn both hip flexors, had all the muscle ripped off of my ribs on the left side of my back, sustained quite a few concussions, bruised a kidney, and got cut on a major vein in my arm (wasn't pretty, my whole lower arm was covered in blood in just a few seconds).
I respect rugby. It's a fun sport that takes a lot of physical conditioning to be good at. You also can't be a little girl and be good at rugby. Football is also a very physically demanding game, and after playing both sports, I can say that football takes a much stronger mental state. You have to be able to tolerate pain in order to play football. It punishes your body like no other sport does.
I stopped playing rugby because it wasn't very fun to me, and I just couldn't change the way my mind worked. After playing football for so long, I naturally put my shoulder down into people and don't hesitate to put my head into someone's chest. I couldn't drop the habit.

I see you read the OP where he said at its start there were 100 deaths a year :downs:
And you can't let your feet leave the ground in a rugby tackle among other things so hits are harder. You can pretty much do anything to tackle the guy as long as you don't spear, facemask, or horse-collar him.

Oh hey it's you again. I play varsity too but I'm missing my season due to patellar tendinitis surgery. My tendon was so bad, they had to do a hamstring graft. Haven't got out of bed in a week :(.
Our team won the state in 07 and may win it this year which pisses me off. Also, I'm probably going to get a scholarship next year.

Nope. Australia, India(oddly enough), and Canada combine push that number under 50%

But football sucks more ass.
God damn I hate soccer but football is just retarded. Stupid American sport.
P.S. I'm American.
Why do you hate that which you do not understand?
I don't understand why unintelligent men sit on a couch, drink beer, and yell as men run back and forth with a ball and jump on each other.
What is the point of that exactly?
Here's your answer

You have to be one of the most introverted individuals, even on the internet to say this.
A sport is entertaining to watch, participating and the spirit of competition is fun for both players and the fans who choose their teams.
Tell me about being easily amused...
You could say the same thing about watching any TV show or movie you know.
You could say the same thing about watching any TV show or movie you know.
Or a video game that you have your eyes glued to for hours.
Look, if you're going to diss sports in a sport-related thread and comparing it to online poker then you will not be welcomed here with open arms.
