Ahh, the good ol' days.
It's fine to not like sports, but to insult them by decomposing them into "men moving a ball around" is just stupid. You can do that with anything and make it sound terrible, watch: "The Shawshank Redemption is just some people talking", "the White Album is just some guitar and singing", "Bioshock is just running around shooting people". It's all about the summation of each part resulting in something beautiful. And watching football (Texas longhorns) stirs more passion in me than any other medium. I'm not asking you to like it, but you damn well better respect it.

Guys can we please not argue about the football/soccer/rugby/handegg thing? This is an American Football thread. Americans call this sport Football, and your football soccer. It's just a name for God's sake!
By the way, the origins for the name "soccer" are this:
The sport's full name was "Association Football." Back in the late 1800s, students in English universities took the "Association" part of the name and abbreviated it to "Assoc," the abbreviations changed, going to "Socca," "Socker," and eventually "Soccer." It was a slang term used in England for a while. Americans decided to use the English term for the game because we had our own version of Football already. The reason American Football is called Football is because they took the core game of Association Football(getting the ball from one side to the other and scoring), and changed the rules of it. Rugby was also created this way. But while they were creating their own game from Association Football, they kept calling it Football as a placeholder. But by the time the game became official, the name "Football" had stuck, so they kept it.
So, history lesson complete, moral of the story: For the English, call American Football American Football, call Association Football Association Football. For Americans, call American Football Football, and Association Football Soccer.
No more fighting please.
Handegg for you euros? Don't you mean handegg for all non-Americans
I'm pretty sure that more than 80% of the people who posted here have not even watched and/or participated in an actual football game.
