I'm not really gonna add to the 'trump sux' trashfire because everyone else has already and that's what all these threads turn into.
But I don't really like your comment on how Trump supporters ' don't inherently lack the ability to think critically and honestly'
it's really underhanded and kinda makes your tone bleed from 'neutral' to 'condecendingly pretending to be neutral
Someone said that the only way you can like or support Trump is if you lack the ability to think critically and honestly. I was simply rebutting with "I don't think it's an absolute and inherent fact that supporting Trump requires you to be unable to think above a 3rd grade level."
I apologize if it came off any other way, I just think it's silly to generalize an entire group of people like that simply because they support a politician that you don't.
;52404227']It's easy to see when people have fallen victim to propaganda for example in your case you refer to this as a 'Muslim ban' when in fact the ban had nothing to do religion
Trump himself referred to it as a "Muslim ban" multiple times so idk man but I had a good laugh

Probably because people who post online as trump supporters are probably gonna be diehards and thus aren't very self critical.
I guess the way I look at it is all over the place for myself.
I'm registered Republican, didn't vote for Trump in the Primary because I couldn't stand behind him with other potential Republican candidates still in the run. When Sanders and Clinton were gearing up for the DNC and there own, I wholeheartedly wanted Sanders to win.
Sanders didn't and it became Trump against Hillary, for which I voted Trump. I couldn't stand behind every single thing he said, and knew he wouldn't/couldn't go through with the majority of it. It was typical politician dribble to get elected, but I couldn't stand beside Clinton in the least which forced my hand for Trump.
I can't say I like the guy, Hell. I can't say I even really tolerate him either. Had Sanders won the DNC, I just very well may have voted for him. He was lax on issues like marijuana, gun control, and the likes.
Trump on the other hand, I could support better border security, I could support a travel ban, but attempting just to "ban Muslims" as he originally said, or the kicked around idea of making them carry an I.D. just reminded me too much of the Star of David in the late 30s and early 40s which left serious doubts in my mind over him until it became time for the election against Hillary.
I mean, fuck. I don't know, I guess because I'm American I want to give the guy the honest doubt, and support him as the President to try and do good for us, but even now he still leaves me in doubt sometimes. I do know that I honestly wish Sanders had made it through the DNC to see about his policies more.
i have issues with any fanbase thats bordering dangerously close to fucking cult worship
this goes with anyone, it becomes destructive when you start blindly supporting someone because no one is perfect and anyone can make mistakes and when you start going into this territory these mistakes and objectively bad ideas can be supported into oblivion
trump himself is doing some pretty dumb shit though, but im not going to doubt that some of his advisers are just pushing him to do stuff thats in their best interest
Hillary is more similar in policies to Sanders than Trump
Even more so considering that she and the DNC ended up adopting a reasonable chunk of his platform. Though whether they would have gone through with it is still up in the air.
As someone who knows a ton of conservatives, they exist in one of these categories:
1) Fully support Trump's policy decisions, but didn't like his personally insulting rhetoric, stupid tweeting, etc.
2) Supported Trump in the election hoping that he would be a jolt to the GOP system of career politicians without much regard for who Trump actually was.
3) Had Trump as their absolute last pick in the primaries, but voted for him in the general hoping that all the stupidity was just an act to get elected
4) Had Trump as their absolute last pick in the primaries, but voted for him in the general solely for the Supreme Court picks, seeing them as being key for the entire next generation
5) Didn't vote for Trump.
The large majority of conservatives I know landed somewhere in 3, 4, and 5, with the most in group 4. I only know a few people in groups 1 and 2, and I don't know anybody who doesn't agree that he's a pretty terrible person on a personal level.
as expected I got a bunch of dumb ratings but nobody bothered to refute any of my points...

Mostly because you mentioned dumb ratings and tried to pre-empt them. It happens on any Facepunch post.
as expected I got a bunch of dumb ratings but nobody bothered to refute any of my points...
sigh
Point 1) Populism isn't a good thing and I don't respect it generally.
Point 2) the hate towards him is misinformed how? This doesn't mean anything, I can rationally decide for myself his behaviour is terrible, talking about ratings here is stupid.
Point 3) his fiscal policy is not spot on it stands to decimate the fucking nation. It's a doubling down on the worst elements of reagonomics. It's over a trillion dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy. You think infrastructural development will be done with a diminished budget? His budget is a tea party budget, and its fucking horrible
Honestly it's getting really really tedious saying the same shit about Donald trump over and over. I feel like at this point someone should just create some sort of public resource that just goes over Trump policies/positions and the issues with them in a really organized and straight forward fashion complete with citations and shit so people can just post it or some subsection of it and be one and done.
Trump voters would accuse that of being a biased source and thus not pay any attention to it
Wait, what happened to the title?

Generally, people who think 'fuck you, got mine' is a way to run a nation, let alone participate in global politics generally aren't the kind of people worth debating with. Then again, the US is currently being run by a gaggle of fucktards who use that exact logic, so...
Clearly they're humans of an inter-dimensional rift in a universe where Donald Trump is the polar opposite of the one in our universe. We're colliding with the other universe because of a game played by rulers of the multiverse who have the minds of 5 year old children.

Healthcare? Right off the bat, the fiscal policy there is "a trillion dollars for the rich". How is that sound fiscal policy?
Also don't whine that no one answered your bullshit points and then refuse to argue the bulk of them

Ok, I'm done here.... no point in debating you with that kind of tone, seems like you already have your mind made up

Agreed. I don't understand what the motive is. Either they're just venting, or they're trying to convert people by seeing how evil/stupid they are? It's so pointless.

Agreed. I don't understand what the motive is. If you're trying to convert people to your side (which shouldn't be the goal anyway), that's not the way to do it
Well then ignore the counter points and the actual argument over tone if you want.
A trillion dollars less on healthcare. How is that ever going to be sound fiscal policy?

handshakes are how empires are made and destroyed
Tudd recently tried to tell me that a chemical I have personally handled was dangerous and corrosive and that an attack with it could have lead to mass casualties. That was the exact moment I realised just how resistant to logic he is.
[editline]28th June 2017[/editline]
Tudd would like to clarify that he did not state that there would be "mass casualties", just that a bunch of people would go to the hospital to be checked out.
The ban in itself is retarded, it doesn't matter whether the list was drawn up by the previous administration, Trump went through with it, therefore as the president of the US he can be held accountable. If you want to hold on to your belief that this was not a discrimination against Muslims then you are unfortunately going to fall into an echo chamber of facts that you do not want to hear. It is not an intelligent way to deal with Islamic terrorism when most of the terror attacks committed in the US have been done by people who were born there. And it will not deal with home grown radicalization. Tell me why Saudi Arabia isn't on the list when their regime is the biggest example of Islamic fundamentalism. Also tell me why the same administration is selling Saudi Arabia billions of dollars in weapons when it is well known the Saudi government supports terrorists in the middle east and bombs civilians every week. Trump has denounced Muslims in his campaign and verbally attacked them countless times and you still think this ban is just about keeping you safe from the flocks of suicide bombers that the republicans think come pouring into the US off planes every day.
Saying the ban is retarded - what a great argument. Then calling me a racist. Nice. Why isn't it a good idea to counter ISIS' prime method of entering the United States? How well do you know the enemy? Weapons are sold to Saudi Arabia so that they can deal the radical Shiites in their hemisphere or should we send US troops overseas? Same deal with North Korea. Would you rather give China weapons or send put troops on the ground? I'm not saying I have the answers. only that a temporary travel ban on KNOWN terrorist harboring nations until improved vetting is in place is a good idea. And fuck you for calling me racist.
The Muslim ban is about as intellectually honest as the fucking wall.
Which is getting along swimmingly, by the way.
Great argument.
I don't know if that was supposed to be a pun since, ya know... you can literally swim across the Rio Grande into the US without notice. good laugh either way

Yes and there's a clear difference between being racist and doing something for national security. The merit for the ban is not targeting Muslims as a whole.

Because unless you can show it being effective, I have no reason to believe it is effective? Banning people from those countries, but not countries that also have extremists but have business dealings with Trump is security?

Good luck swimming the rio grande with literally no one noticing you and nothing happening to you.
The wall 1) won't happen 2) isn't practical 3) doesn't actually safeguard the US against mexican illegals as they don't cross via border crossings as is mentioned in every thread, or discussion about the wall.

I never said that he was a racist
I said that he himself called it a muslim ban, so calling out other people for calling it a muslim ban is absolutely bonkers

I have just explained to you why the ban is stupid as it eoesnt stop home grown radicalisation. Saudi Arabia is a pretty radical islamic regime if you ask me, it's well known they have funded terrorists in the past and they commit war crimes against civilians in Yemen, are they really the people you want billions of dollars in arms to be going to when you are trying to fight radical Islam. I have already explained this to you. Now please do the honour of specifying when I called you racist, go on.

How many terrorist attacks have been caused by ISIS agents who have immigrated to western countries? How many attacks have been caused by natives who have lived there all their lives only to get radicalized? And if the ban is supposed to be on countries that support terrorism, why isn't saudia arabia on the list?
I Don't support Trump. Why you ask? He doesn't care about global warming! Wow! thanks, Trump!
"Comedy HQRSE option that gets you permabanned"
so when do the bans get laid out?
Well this is going to get a lot of hate but here it is.
I'm not an American and i'm definitely not a genius in politics especially in the politics of the United States, but i do support Trump in the case about Muslims, being a Christian and a Chinese descendant in Indonesia is kinda hard, and i think its kinda funny how the minority in the United States hated Trump while the minority here i Indonesia fully support Trump (well at least for my family).
I still remember the time when Trump was elected, i was with my big family celebrating my cousins birthday and the family cheered as hard as they can when the TV announced that Trump wins the election, and here comes the worst part i was so happy at that time i started to run to the balcony of the second floor and yelled YEEEHAAAW so fucking loud, it feel so FUCKING SATISFYING plus the Trump memes starts to pop out at the very same day which makes it even better.
Great now i feel bad about myself.
