I'm going to regret saying this but I registered republican. Granted I did this because I like the idea of a smaller government, also I hate everything about the way the highly left-wing Californian state government is run. I'm not a crazed bible-thumper or anything.
Being forced to suffer for the wellbeing of others may make some people angry
Suffer? Why do all the arguments I see opposing universal health care consist of over exaggerated disaster scenarios of people having their life savings taxed away whilst hospitals fill with dead Americans but healthy, well treated Mexican immigrants. I mean, the rest of the first world is doing just fine with its universal healthcare. Also, almost all the other first world countries with universal healthcare (France, Germany, Japan, UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden to name a few) have a higher life expectancy than the US. Correlation may not imply causation but it shows that adopting universal healthcare does not necessarily cause your country to go to hell in a handbasket. Sweden has no taxes? How do you pay for all this socalization and other basic infustructure like roadway's and such?
Sweden have one of the highest taxes in the world. Kthx
Oh I see, I read his sentence as "We have no taxes, which Republicans hate" or something to that effect, the sentence was worded oddly. [editline]03:37PM[/editline] Or that's what he originally wrote and then edited when he realized his folly.

I guess to him you painted the picture of rows upon rows of Americans on body bags or laying with sheets over them, scattered amongst the hallways of every major Hospital in the continental United States.
These people are so stupid it pisses me off. They don't even know what they're talking about. [editline]01:51AM[/editline] By the way, the title was just to grab your attention. Don't get all pissy
We don't know what we are talking about... yea... ok
"Stop global warming, gag liberal politicians" What?
Why are they so against free healthcare? here in sweden we are really glad to play a little more tax to treat all people. Would you pay a few extra bucks more every year to get free care if you or maybe a relative get cancer or break a leg? This is a country that once fought for total freedom, now they seem to have forgotten what they fought for. They have forgotten what freedom really is and many of the americans seem to be afraid of change. Almost every civilized country in our world tries to create freedom and peace, but the american people seems to want the opposite. What we people should obviously strive for is total happiness, peace and that "everybody" in the world gets a fair chance to have a good life. Why spend so much money in war when we can spend it on wellfare and maybe make the poor a little richer so they can get the right education and a good life. The american statement "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is at the moment a false statement, only through change can it become true. Peace Love Unity and Respect.
Theese people really give USA a bad image. I would also like to see the "Obama Anti-Christ" part in the Bible, Surely he didn't make it up did he :downs:?
I would laugh if one of the several communist parties happened to assemble there on the same day.

Total peace and happiness is possible. As a raver i meet people who are like minded, we all live for love and peace, and we all show good karma and help eachother out. There are so many good people in this world. People are to deluded in this world to see outside their own ego. Just take a few steps outside your ego and you will see, feel and know what's truly right and wrong in life and in our world. With time people will begin to truly use their own brains instead of being brainwashed by bad stuff in our world. All you need to do is to change your behavior. Example: instead of buying that peice of candy you could give the small amount of money to a bum or do any other good act. In the end i promise that you will feel happy over your good deeds and you will get love and respect back. throug the course of history people have learned to use their brains, but there is still a long way to go until we can reach a true utopia in our world. Do not believe everything you hear and see, make your own conclusions and be ready for change. I got my beliefs and my way of living, i am constantly euphoric and calm. I am sure there will be alot of sorrow and pain to come in my life as people cease away but aslongs as i have lived a peaceful life filled with joy and love i have succeeded. I am free and i know it.
Really that one woman thinks that health care will turn the usa into a third world country, lal

The real tools to develope a better society are: -Facts -Logic -Science Since of course you think by being "Nice" you can overcome things like -mental illness -Greed -Differing opinions -Free will Y'know, I can understand that many people want to live in a *Perfect* utopian society, But it is a flawed concept and time has shown this~ Edit: Furthermore, Most Utopian societies degrade into a harsh and hated police state.
"We dont want health care! we want to die if we do not have money! We want freedom to go to war!" i don't know.. stop caring about Americas population long time ago.
Lets just nuke that side of america.
Hey I like how people trying to defend themselves say that there are people just like that on the other side. Hmm I can't see them, they must be hidden with their secret communist fascist invisibility cloaks, I mean, they DO borrow from each other and intertwine...
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/suffer ...and seriously , did you just accuse me of making a disaster scenario and then use the words "Hospitals fill with dead Americans"
No sorry I shouldn't really have quoted you (I just thought suffer was quite a strong word for what universal health care would cause) that wasn't completely directed at you, just the general republican opposition I've seen against the health plan. The only argument I've seen that actually stands up is that this isn't the right time for America to introduce UHC, but should be considered when the economy is more stable.
Moderate republicans should just make a new party entirely, or kick the retarded ones out.
See, this is what I don't understand with right-winged politics. You want lower taxes and fewer government services. This will inevitably end in less equality. You claim to do this in the name of "freedom" and "free-will" but of what use are these if you're poor? And don't come claiming bullshit like it's their own fault. People are born into poverty, and the changes that you want will make it even harder for them to break free from their social inheritance. A lot of you also seem to be unable to discern economic freedom from personal freedom, thinking that a socialist state equals a fascist police state. This is false. Scandinavia is socialist and has been for quite a while now, and yet it is still a functioning democracy, perhaps even better functioning than America. In closing, Scandinavia is awesome.
The "Jesus is our King" ideology is what is preventing America from moving forward in the modern world. We can love whatever God we want in America, (And the rest of the modern world...) so please start innovating and stop caring about what the fat man on TV has to say. Lincoln should have just let them leave.
