If you do decide to go to school:
Don't eat the fucking food. :C
Try to pick up a work study job on campus. Work study can be an amazing thing, especially sense it's usually part time. I was fortunate enough to snag a job with the IT department and I get to hang out with two of the awesomer guys I know at college. They typically help hook me up with things, like getting me into wait listed classes. Half the time we just laze around the office on our laptops talking about the newest and the stupidest.
I'm two years away from college right now, and I can't decide if I should try and go to a university or just start by going to community college and then transfer to a real college later to save money.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE
for average achievers
i'm a below average achiever, i'm taking a year before college to save up money so i dont eat ramen
EDIT: and parties are so much better when you don't have class the next day

Or for people who are smart and decide to save an assload of money by taking their first two or so years of college REALLY cheap at a community college before dropping $10k a year at a real university.

All of them?
The hell? This thread should be up front. I bookmarked this thread awhile ago and found it again when deleting some old bookmarks. I'm starting college this Fall so it's a nice refresher to find this again.
I was off campus (but still living away from home) for my first year, and the best advice I can give is keeping a spreadsheet for your finances - make sure you can pay your rent that month, estimate how much your bills will cost and food, then see how much you have left to get drunk. There's so many times you'll go out thinking you'll only spend about £30, then go to the cash machine and by the morning you remember you've spent more like £60, so you spend the rest of the month eating 27p noodles. It's shit. Also if you have a student bank account don't be afraid to get acquainted with your overdraft with it being such low interest.
