Standard Schecter pickups.
Well, hello again everyone. I've changed my mind again.
BEHOLD:

EMG 81 right there in the bridge position (it's atually a EMG 81TW so you get to use it as a single coil as well or something) It costs about the same as the other guitars I was thinking about, and it looks like pure sex.
Me wants this more!

I'm going to buy a Manson MBK2 pickup for my guitar, I was just wondering how easy it would be too install? Would it be worth getting it done by a professional in a guitar shop? Thanks.
So I'm shopping for my eighth guitar, and it will probably be my last for awhile since I'm going to move to pedal collecting. I have a $1000 budget, any suggestions? I've been eyeing up Ibanez Artcores/Munky Apex and Icemans..
I did a big revamp on one of my guitars. It previously had an inactive floyd rose, I couldn't use it because I didn't have a whammy for it (it was a licensed design, and when I got it it had no whammy and the previous owner had lost it)
So I bought all this crap for it:

I bought:
- 3 graphite headnuts (not for this guitar)
- 3 EMG pickups (HSS)
- A schaller locking nut
- A schaller floyd rose tremolo arm
- Black Ice overdrive capacitor
The licensed floyd rose I had was incompatible with the Schaller standard trem, I can onyl assume they made them purposely incompatible so you'd have to buy theirs. So I hauled out my metal piercing drillbits and drilled out that fucker.

Take that, corporate America!

And, the finished product. The floyd rose is now working fully, though tuning the guitar is a pain for obvious reasons. The locking nut has given the guitar much more sustain, and a more metallic twang when it's played. I wired the neck and bridge pickups into unison, to get that telecaster sound. I also did some fret leveling, so I have less buzz now, the neck job isn't perfect, but the guitar sounds good.

So uhm for when it comes to band practice I need a light, but very sexy sounding metal guitar. No floyd roses wanted, I already have one of those problems in my dean. I was thinking between a fixed bridge iBanez or an ESP V-II.
Any thoughts?

Get a warmoth stratish guitar made of basswood, and change out the stock pickups for some sort of active system
I'm not a fan of the Telecaster style myself, but god damn that is sexy, Hypno.

Thanks, I think it's that cappuccino colored satin walnut that does the trick. The Mahogany, Satin, and rosewood go well together, plus those EMGs look really slick.

They would both suit you well. But I personally love RGs.
I made a bad ass tech death song today. Was quite surprised with the solo I made.
For all guitar players(mostly electric though) I highly suggest you buy what is called, The Guitar Grimoire. They have several different books in the series but the best is the book on scales and modes. I got the book a year ago and within one week my guitar playing had improved immensely based on what I did with the scales. Now I am excellent at solos and improvisation. It is a wonderful book. Some days I would spend up to an hour playing with just a single scale. It's amazing.
here is a link to their website:

and you can buy any of their books at your local guitar center.
I'm going to buy a new guitar soon, but I'm around $500 short and while I wait to get a job I was thinking of just jazzing up my strat a bit to tide me over.
Basically I've been playing metal with my Squier for a few years on stock pickups, (it's an HSS Fat Strat) and I'm looking for something a little more high output, something that might be more suitable for playing anything from Megadeth to Nevermore. I don't really have a lot of clue when it comes to pickups, so can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'd prefer not to spend a lot of money (less than $100) as the guitar itself was only around $500.
If you want metal, go for Seymour Duncan or EMG. Even though I dislike metal, I still love EMGs because they are well designed pickups. EMG selects are dirt cheap, and are very good pickups. If you want metal you should go for a S3 EMG pickup. It'll cost ya though.

Not really a fan of EMGs usually, I must admit. But I have heard good things about the higher output SDs and DiMarzio pickups as well, I was just wondering if anyone had had good experiences with 'metal' pickups in a strat.
Also I have room for a full size humbucker at the bridge.

yea, I play 1 or 2 sets a week.
What do you guys think of the ESP LTD M-10 pack?

I've been playing for about a month now on my acoustic and am making good progress. I'm looking to get an electric at christmas or sometime early next year.
I just got my guitar yesterday (also a tuner and some picks) for my birthday. Trying to learn Sweet Home Alabama and Wish You Were Here for starters.
I love the way the Whammy bar works.
Sorry, I don't know a damn thing about guitars. But I love listening to Guitar heros like Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai and Buckethead.

I would not recommend a guitar and amp pack because both end up to be shitty.
Got myself a lovely Cole Clark FL1. Plays like a charm and has quite a low action, which I love on an acoustic.
I'm so excited :D.
Anyone here like Yes?
I'm learning AMerica right now.
My fuckin G string broke :(

Guess you gotta change it then.
Just starting to pick up guitar, brother got me a Washburn X series (not sure which model), and I have no idea where to start. I want to see if I can teach myself to play, and watch lessons on the internet to get good. Although, first I'm gonna need a new cable, as the one he got me has already broken. So if anyone could tell me where to get a guitar cable, how to start learning, what songs to start with, etc., that would be awesome.
This all depends on where you are.
For me, Guitar Center has some pretty cheap instrument cables if you buy the generics (LiveWire as opposed to Monster or Mogawi).

Don't choose a song you don't like, otherwise when it gets hard you'll think "what the fuck am i doing this for this songs shit." and there will be a point when you think "i'm shit at this i'd be aswell giving up" but at that point you just have to persevere until you mastered the hard part.
And learn tab, and music theory, that's something i'm just about to start doing now, and use guitar pro, that really helped me.

How the hell can you even break a low B?
How the hell can you even break a low B?
It was the strings that came with the guitar. I wasn't surprised. Well atleast I had a reason to buy a heavier set.
My fuckin G string broke :(
I bet you were tapping a minor.
:v:
I wanna buy a delay pedal and a flanger pedal. I was messing around with my distortion and whammy pedals ther other day, and if you turn the mid frequency knob on the distortion pedal while playing, it gets some awesome spacey sounds. I literally sat there for half an hour creating ambient psychadelic music, just mesing around on pedals.
Also I could buy a new guitar, or get a flanger, delay and reverb pedal and still have some money left.
