I'm thinking about asking for a bass for my birthday but I don't really know much about what's good and what's not. Does this look alright for a first bass?
Just skip the starter packs altogether and buy a decent bass, combo amp, cable, a strap and maybe a tuner. If you are serious enough about starting, then you are serious enough to get decent gear, not shit. This is my opinion at least, you'll end up saving a bit more money in the long run.
I've been thinking about what pickups to put in my guitar when I get it. I'm thinking Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and Dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck. However, I have heard both the Super Distortion and PAF Pro being a bit muddy or fuzzy, so.... Maybe I should get some Bareknuckles, because I know they sound quite good, and I was thinking either Nailbombs or Warpigs. However I much prefer the tone of the Dimarzios when soloing, it's just the fuzzyness when playing chords and stuff that puts me off a bit.
I probably don't know what they are... but why on earth would you buy distorted pickups?
Mark Knopfler, left handed though plays right handed Jimi Hendrix, right handed though plays left handed Nothing is impossible
Jimi was ambidexterous as far as I know. And I'm not sure about Knopfler either.
I probably don't know what they are... but why on earth would you buy distorted pickups?
I'm not really sure what you mean by that. The super distortion pickups are better suited for playing with distortion effects.
Well apparantly the war pigs are great at everything, total guitar done a review of a few of them and a few other pickups, and the warpigs and nailbombs came out on top of everything, including a dimarzio and i think an EMG 81

Because Dimarzios have that signiature instantly recognizable sound that is just not achievable on Bareknuckles. BKs may be more versatile, they may be higher output, but that sweet singing tone of the Dimarzios really makes them what I want to get.
I'm not really sure what you mean by that. The super distortion pickups are better suited for playing with distortion effects.
Just a misunderstanding then. I thought it meant you could only play distorted
I want LACE sensor pickups

For example, Let's say you bought a Used fender jazz, if it turned out you didn't want to play bass then, aslong as you looked after it it will sell for basically the same amount of money. Whereas if you bought a starter bass, they resell for very little cash. (Amps: Line6 Lowdown (Skip the 15 Watt one...) amps are great shit, I don't own one, I play through a Gallien krueger half-stack but those little line6 amps pack some serious punch and tone for their size and would not hesitate to buy one if I needed a small tone-box amp for session/acoustic work (I currently use my Microcube and D.I Box for that work)) That's my opinion anyway, I think with a decent instrument you are more likely to stick at it.

If I want to install active pickups into a guitar without a battery holder is it ok? Will the battery not fit anywhere or can it just sit in with the electronics. [editline]11:43PM[/editline] Also if I have 2 active pickups will I need 2 batteries or will one be fine between them?
One is fine between them. Alot of active pickup systems have the preamp board seperate from the pickups and preamp board is the only powered part. The battery can just sit in the compartment, Generally you can just make a card/cardboard isolator so the batteries metal casing doesn't short anything. assumin there is enough space inside.
Generally speaking it can just sit in the compartment if you make sure it's relatively far away from other exposed components.
When by Opeth is kinda easy to pick up this time around before I was like wtf aghhhhh
I'm currently learning the solo at like 2:00, it's super fun
Probably my next guitar!
Same here, only I'm getting it in green.
I was blown away.
That is quite amazing. What a great tone(s).
I gotta get a capo for my acoustic. There are so many other songs I want to learn that requires one :(
Shit shit shit. People are un-watching my guitar on eBay. It had 30 watchers yesterday, now there's only 26.
I've got an Ibanez GRG170DX and a Roland Cube 15x coming in the mail, I'm excited to get started. :buddy:
Anyone wanna buy it? If you have the money I can ship it to anywhere. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320428345422&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

I recommend an Ibanez RG2550mz, they are truly awesome.
Does anyone know what kind of guitar Jed Simon form Strapping Young Lad uses?
Which one of them...?
I was blown away.
That was sweet.
I recommend an Ibanez RG2550mz, they are truly awesome.
I tried an rg09 today, the pegasus one, was pretty good, except i think the spacing between the strings is higher cause of the floyd, so im thinking about getting a guitar with a string through or hard tail.

I love Ibanez's but to be honest the RGs are the only ones I would buy and all of the good RGs are tremolos.
Yeah I', looking at getting a shecter v of some form, or the shecter that i saw in red dog a while back. Loved that guitar, felt awesome if i remember correctly, and today i noticed that the ibanez fretboard felt a bit...sticky, was really wierd.
A schecter V would definitely be cool. Also I'm worried that my guitar isn't going to sell :ohdear: Plus I've already promised to buy the other one, so I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't sell.
