So I want to start playing bass. Not sure where to start with guitars, I know nothing about the hardware and such. I just went on Amazon and found this. I'm gonna need to save for a little while though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-G-4-Bass-Guitar-Pack/dp/B00125W71W/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256419816&sr=1-7 It seems to be a good starter kit, anyone got opinions on this?

I'd strongly advise not getting that pack. for one, with starter packs, you usually never get anything good. Especially the amp and assorted things. for another, I'm sure you could get a used Ibanez GSR or Squier Jazz or Precision bass, and maybe a halfway decent little combo for not too much more than that. Although I'd recommend investing more money into it. [editline]12:41AM[/editline] http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/71858 http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/rb-3/69084 There's a nice setup for only 279 quid. [editline]12:42AM[/editline] A lot more than your pack, but again, You really should put your money into this from the start.
HOLY FUCKING FUCKSAUCE THAT IS BEAUTIFUL I would force myself to whore out and eventually buy it if it was a 24-fret. Still FUCKING UNDENIABLY AWESOME, but I can pass without the second octave I'd need for my favorite 7-string material.
It's just an explorer. It looks no different apart from the seventh string. And any way, explorers are ugly
My dream guitar http://www.espguitars.com/guitars_galder.html but i don't have like $1000 to throw around :(
THAT'S your dream guitar? That $1000, single pickup, horrible looking flying V? A pentagram, are you serious?

And everyone has their opinions about what looks good and what doesn't. And there's nothing wrong with only having one pickup.
explorers are ugly
How dare you. Seriously.

I don't want to throw money at this right from the off, that would be a mistake on my part. Besides, what's wrong with working my way to a better setup?

Guitar scales with alternative picking isn't the easiest thing to learn :/
Care to list an example? It sounds like fun.
Guitar scales with alternative picking isn't the easiest thing to learn :/
unless there's three notes per string, then it's easy. If you're talking about what I think you're talking about that is.

Leave the guy alone to get the guitar he wants. WHOS GOT THE BIG TESTES EH? WHO RATED ME DUMB FOR A PRETTY SMART COMMENTED!!!!
Bought a Danelectro DC59 yesterday. It's awesome :D
I want this guitar so bad.

Then you'll knock over half the cost off, usually. [editline]05:50PM[/editline] Or, you could buy the bass, and just download a program to make your amp act as an amp. I'm pretty sure those exist, too.
This is my baby, some of you have seen it before.

I bought one as my first instrument and sold it shortly after. The nexk was so warped that the action was so high I could fit my finger under the strings at the 12th fret.

What about a P-Bass? Any good?
Having a P-Bass makes you an instant badass.
P-Bass, £117. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Standard-Electric-Bass-Guitar-Sunburst/dp/B000OR7QM4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256508983&sr=1-4
That's not a real p-bass.
