I've done DGDG on bass for shits and grins once or twice. fun stuff. Also, drop the high e to d and get a slide or bow. awesome will happen
A friend was considering selling me his little 15 w amp when I eventually buy an electric guitar. I was considering buying it from him for $100 (Australian Dollars) He bought a Squier electric guitar pack when he started playing and has recently recieved a line 6 stack amp for $300 (bought it off a friend of a friend) and he doesn't need it anymore. He said he'd sell it to me but a friend told me today that it's a bad amp, I was also considering playing it through a Epiphone G-310 or a G-400 What do you guys think? Should I save up and buy a decent amp or buy the G-310 and have more money left over for a better amp? Thanks in advance [editline]05:45PM[/editline] I found what the amp is called a two-channel Bullet 150 DSP 15-watt Here's a photo of the pack I typed Squier in front of it and I know the amp has fender written on it so don't bother telling me
That would be a terrible amp. Not worth that much.
I don't think I could use a glued on neck, i'd be worried incase the tension ripped the neck out, and i suppose the bolts would effect sustain
Glued on necks aren't that much better. Neck-thru bodies are were it's at.
That would be a terrible amp. Not worth that much.
can you give me some reasons why? And what would be a suitable one according to you? What should I be looking for apart from wattage?
can you give me some reasons why? And what would be a suitable one according to you? What should I be looking for apart from wattage?
Wattage is your least concern, it only determines how loud it is, and a basic 5W box will be loud enough You just gotta go and see for yourself how they sound, and pick the one that suits you best..
I know what the wattage is lol, and yeah that's what I was considering. We've got some basic speakers in the shed which my Dad would know how to modify so I could just use it for a while. It'd trash the speakers and sound bad but it would be fun until I got a decent amp. or I could just play it without and amplification for a couple of months and then save up. so I'll go have a look, are there any features I should look out for?
can you give me some reasons why? And what would be a suitable one according to you? If you want a decent practice amp, look at the Roland Micro Cube, they're pretty ballsy from what I've heard.

Infact that's what decides tone as far as i know, and i hope i know alot since im gonna try and build my own.
Glued on necks aren't that much better. Neck-thru bodies are were it's at.
most of the time glue on is referred to as neck thru.
I seriously get a bit worried when i hear glued on neck, cause what happens if you use really high gauge strings?
Glued-on necks are referred to as "Set-in necks". And you don't have to worry, as the glue they use is stronger than the wood itself:v:.
...oh well that puts me at ease about getting one of those TC Ellis guitars then :v:
most of the time glue on is referred to as neck thru.
I think "glued" means set-neck. As in Gibsons and most acoustic guitars. Neck-through is where the neck wood reaches all the way through the body as well with just the rest of the body glued on the sides of it.

eh, it's no pbass
That is the most beautiful finish I've even seen, not really into those pots though. Also, can anyone identify who makes this amplifier? It sounds better than this his previous Hughes & Kettner head/Marshall cab setup, and I'm quite interested in what it is. I've looked through wikipedia's list of guitar amplifier manufacturers but couldn't find any match. The logo features a red crescent, but I can't make out the text. I just got my father's bass today. I can't even tell what model it is. [editline]05:25PM[/editline] Ah, here it is

In the good sense
I was about ready to skip my chem lab just to play guitar. [editline]08:46AM[/editline] For anyone who has a lot of experience, how important is it to learn songs? I've been making songs and improving a whole lot, but I only can play a small number of songs. Is learning songs important, or does it just depend on what you are trying to accomplish?
Songs help you with technique, and as you learn more and more songs, you'll get a little more creative with your improvisations. Though exercises are a faster and more efficient way to build up technique, but that might be boring to some. I don't really learn songs nowadays, I just grab a scale(usually blues) and make up licks, and apply newly learned techniques to them. Just keep in mind that there's no "right way" of learning how to play, (ex.: Paul Gilbert used only upstrokes in his first 2 years of playing, he didn't know he was allowed to use downstrokes) only thing that matters is that you should enjoy it.
I've been thinking about picking up playing guitar. My dad play's (p good) guitar and I've got too much free time. I don't think that I have enough dedication not to give up after 20 minutes of practicing and realizing I can't play anything cool though.
Everyone is like that, they suck for a while and then they can play some really hard riff, and trust me, it's that sense of pride and satisfaction that keeps you going, and then you get the itch to try and write some stuff and that's what you do, unfortunatley i suck at music thoery so i end up making black metal :v: not complaining thought, the tiny amount of riffs and shit i've wrote i like :)
My new guitar should arrive tomorrow! YAY! I'm still getting a bit of interest every now and then in the old guitar, the occasional email offering me like £300 for it. One guy just emailed me and he hasn't mentioned price yet so hopefully he might buy it for the desired £950.

Who the hell expected to get it for 300? (Sorry I don't feel like finding the GBP symbol in character map and I live in the US)
Yeah the guy offereing 300 quid is quite clearly retarded, mind you i could have got a razorback explosion for 300. But no!!! "it's too expensive for a first guitar" says the father!!!! Edited: Cunt
WOOO MY GUITAR IS HERE! It's really cool, the finish is different than my other, the shade of blue is different and it's varied slightly, just proves that each guitar is hand painted. And the guy thought he might buy the old one says he will! EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT!

Hey, just wanted to pop in and show you guys a great deal. And no, I'm not trying to advertise for Musician's Friend :silent: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Schecter-C1-Plus-Electric-Guitar?sku=513010 I have a Schecter C-1 Plus myself, and I have to say it is a great guitar. If you've got the money, get it while you can, before they jack the price up again.
