^ Wow... Just wow Wait what the fuck am I looking at, is the first guitar disgusting or... mesmerising [editline]10:55PM[/editline] Also I've had some success with my fourth finger, pleased is it worth learning to read music, because that's what I'm doing at the moment. I think it'll be a good help if I end up writing my own stuff, but at the moment that seems impossiblle
Anyone got an advice on the difference on original and licensed floyds?
Some licensed Floyd's are really decent, others are just crap. Ibanez makes some decent ones, the one on my RG7620 hasn't gone out of tune for at least a week.

With piano it's much more useful.

And it's really not hard at all. Even if you don't use notation for learning songs it's extremely useful for composing. I find if I write out stuff in notation it's easier to see and think about the harmonies and the movement of the music.

I wish I had learned notes and stuff 5 years ago when I started playing the guitar. Well, I did learn the basics that my cousin teached me but I veered away from the lessons for some reason, didn't find it interesting enough. I regret that now.
I own a epiphone SG ebony finish right now but i am saving up for a Gothic epihone explorer. It only costs 400-500 but i am gonna replace the pickups with some emg's so it will just scream. And put some ernie ball regular strings gauge 9 so i can feel like i am james hetfeild

I think that I'll probably benefit from this is in the future but I'm really just learning to play for fun and because I love music. Learning to read it just seems like a valuble skill too, Even then I don't want to make a mistake or bad habit that's impossible to change :v: Thanks for everyone who replied, this thread is full of win You all are tools, in the useful sense
I kinda disappeared from in here for a while and I'm still looking to play bass. Found another starter kit, this one has a sound sample on the page and I think it sounds pretty good. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbpbset1_ebassset.htm
I assume that double neck has a piezo bridge because that's not gonna work unamplified.
The saddles are black, in contrast to the gold hardware everywhere else. It's piezo.

If it's the explorer shape you're digging it might be a problem verses sound, but if you wanted a nice metal guitar you should look elsewhere from Epiphone's range

Just get it set with .010's instead, better for overall playing with metal.
I use these. Most people react the same way when I tell them. I've had a few people say "omg you use bass picks". I didn't realise it was a bass pick. People just surprised at the thickness of it. Who else uses these?
I use them anaw man, didn't realise they were bass either, haha. [editline]09:51AM[/editline]
I got this rather artistic looking plectrum from my step father the other day:
I've got one of them, quite good for strumming I found.
Anyone a fan of all shall perish here?
So I'm totally considering getting this wah pedal for Christmas. I liked the sample sounds, and I need a wah that doesn't suck ass like my built-in one with my Digitech multieffect... {Edit}: Anyone actually used it before? Or own it? Looking to see if there's anything I should be wary of.
I've got a Crybaby. Not that exact kind though. They make amazing wah pedals though.
I agree, I have a Crybaby original and it sounds great.
hey guys what do you think of this lick
E |----------------------------------------------------------7-5-----8-5-8-5--- B |-----------------------------------------------------5-8-------7-----------7- G |--------------------------------7-5-----8-5-8-5----------------------------- D |---------------------------5-8------7------------7--------------------------- A |------7-5-----8-5-8-5------------------------------------------------------- E |-5-8-------7-----------7-----------------------------------------------------
it's the same minor shape in each octave but I think it sounds cool
A friend of mine tells me that a vox is only good for clean stuff he says the distortion on it is shit and using a pedal with it makes it sound even worse. Opinions?
What Vox? Vox is a manufacturer, not a specific amp. I'm guessing you're talking about Vox Valvetronix so I can't really say not having tested one. Maybe you should visit your local music shop to try one out, they should have some. They do make a high gain tube amp head but I wouldn't use the normal tube Voxes for death metal or anything. Dunno about the Valvetronix modelings.
I meant them as a whole, just generally I don't know much about vox amps specifically. Just when I mentioned them, he instantly starting bashing them, I wouldn't intend to play death metal anyway. But he's got a pretty narrow selection of music, if it's not , metal he's unlikely to enjoy it
Well my Vox VT15 is supposed to arrive today, so I'll tell you how it is whenever it comes. Although I'm not exactly a professional by any means, so my review might not mean much. You can always look up videos on youtube of people playing it.
I have a Vox AD30, and it's clean sounds are the part I like it for the most. Distorted sounds are meh, the entire amp in general is meh, but then you have these awesome clean sounds.
saw some kid in my music class today unscrewing his normal tremelo bridge to replace strings. i told him thats not how you do it but he was adamant that he was right, so i just laughed and left him to it.
I use the black 2mm version of this pick. Also make sure it stays in position when you aren't using it. Takes a while to get, I've been working on training my fourth finger for over six months and I'm getting to the point where it stays in position and doesn't go off in some random direction. As far as using it for playing, you just have to practice.
I use the same pic man, Highfive!
Just got a mail ad for Guitar Center's holiday deals. Squire Strats, Epiphone LP Jrs, and Line Six Spiders galore. I raged.
Why? People who want to start guitar have the best chance of actually getting the gear at xmas
Why? People who want to start guitar have the best chance of actually getting the gear at xmas
Well yeah but the base model Squiers (like their starter kit models) and LP Juniors are all gimped guitars in some way. Plus Line 6 Spider amps suck, a cheap anything else would be a better alternative. But they do have some good sales too.
so I just ordered a new Ibanez Destroyer is this win
Man, I want a ukulele for christmas, but I need a question answered by a uke player, do ukuleles normally come in 4 string or 6 string?
