Dude Spalted Maple is so fucking sexy. I've got a Telecaster in that finish.
It's even cooler when you're working with it. The layers are very complex. maple is a fairly plain wood by itself, but so many cool things can happen to it. Curls, quilts, flames, and spalting. FYI, its caused by the wood becoming slightly rotten, and getting multiple fungus species inside the wood. When two different species of fungus collide, they make those black barriers. The fungus itself causes some cool effects in the wood. All the pale hardwoods can get some cool spalting. Probably has a unique tone, too, because it takes some of the density away from maple. My post applied to all natural finish guitars. With just about all wood (except maybe alder and poplar) I think they look better with a natural wood finish (maybe clear lacquer or oil on them for protection). It's always such a shame to paint over them.
Wrong! Natural wood finish wins, always. :v:
That's beautiful, but in my opinion natural wood finish isn't very metal It does however, look extremely nice
That's beautiful, but in my opinion natural wood finish isn't very metal It does however, look extremely nice
I don't think that finish belongs on that guitar, but no, natural wood is not meant to look "metal." It's meant to look like a work of art, which is to be treasured and treated lightly. There's a reason guitars designed for metal are on the lightweight side, and quite durable. They take a serious beating and still look cool.
Ok, fucking locked in now. I'm definitely getting the Yamaha bass.

You can hit it with a hammer and end up with a dent in the hammerhead.
[editline]04:05PM[/editline] P.S. I'm a drummer.

Gibsons do tend to weigh a good bit more than others.
So you see these Blackmachine guitars? http://www.blackmachine.net/b2.htm How do I get one? do I have to get it custom made or what, I can't see any B2s online anywhere? Here's a pic:
Yeah they are custom built, and something like 1.5 grand with a 6 month waiting list, the guy builds em all himself and doesnt trust anyone else to do it without fucking up. Oh and the dudes from Sikth used em im sure [editline]04:28PM[/editline]
It's always such a shame to paint over them.
Sweet jesus this.

Ok Ladies and Gent's I played an 8 string schecter today and promptly shat myself, the hagstrom is now a weak and feeble guitar in comparison. I don't have £1000 lying around though so I'm now looking at getting an Agile intrepid, can anyone give me any help with this here? Currently looking at this beast http://www.rondomusic.com/intrepidprodualbb830.html
Beautiful guitar! Can you actually get one from the site?
The guy just emailed me back, he said for a B2 like that it would cost £2100, but he could't take any orders at the moment because the waiting list is more than a year long. He said he'd put a not on the site when he could take orders again. The cheapest guitar was the B6 at £1400. [editline]08:46PM[/editline] Also I think I might buy that ESP, it's just sooo epic. I know I already have an expensive guitar but.. meh. I don't spend money on anything else really.

So potentially you could end up with a broken guitar and nothing you can do about it if something in shipping goes wrong. It's the only thing that stopped me from getting one of their sevens, which is a shame because they are apparently great guitars, especially considering the prices.
well if you buy anything that gets delivered outside the US it has to be ordered with a case, so hopefully it would survive.

I'm getting a Schecter Diamond C-7 Blackjack ATX for christmas( blackouts!!! ). Has anyone had a one before? Link
Well I'm only getting the Agile until my mate builds me an 8 and I don't mind the EMG 808's the high end 8's use despite what everyone says :v: only thing that pisses me off is the EMG's cant be switched out or I'll have huge routing gaps. And dude as long as you've played the C-7 it should be pretty good, and the only thing i can see that would maybe be worrying is the seymours, but if you like them then i dont see a problem :)
What picks do manly guitar players use?
Jazz 3's and tortex dunlop 1mm's Only gaylords use other picks. :v:
Medium picks. I don't care, it's a pick.
I use Tortex .88's right now.
I use these picks. I love 'em to death. Best feel/size for the way I play. Good and heavy and thick, they last like forever.
What picks do manly guitar players use?
Sharp dunlop purple (1.14mm). What are you using?
Bought a big stack of picks for 20$ or so, just starting with acoustic and I like dunlop ultex .60 and tortex tortoise-shape .50 for strumming and Jazz 3s for picking so far.
I use jazz 3's for everything, ocassionally thumbpicks and tortex .88's
After using Jazz III's for so long, every other pick feels huge and clumsy.
It's a Framus Camarillo Custom Shop, best damn guitar I've ever owned!
Niiiicccceeeeeeeeeeeee what pickups are they? And is that a 27" scale
I love how you can see the wood. Ahhh im getting thrilled. I dont like the bindings that much tho.
I developed a sort of dislike of Rosewood fingerboards. Ebony undoubtedly looks much better.
