After a year of pause, I've decided to start playing the guitar again.
SWEEP PICKING HERE I COME!
I get horrible feedback on my guitar, ask anyone that's heard my guitar they'll vouch for me, I was wondering what I have to do to get rid of it... or at least as much as possible.
Here is an example of it just running, no notes.

It could easily be a problem with the wiring but I'd rather it be just about every other alternative. The cable I've been using is the cable that came with our bass player's "My First Squire P-Bass Kit" and was passed onto me in my time of need, it's served me well thus far but I want to know if a fault cable could cause such a horrible buzz.
I've read the last 10 pages. Why is there no Rickenbacker love up in here?

I beg to differ. That particular model in the image might be ugly but the rest are nice looking.

OK, you're my favourite thus far. That setup is a nice change from the constant barrage of metal kiddies' gear!

From left to right:
Epiphone Les Paul 56 Goldtop
Italia Rimini 12 String (Poor man's Ric, but a beautiful guitar in its own right!)
Ovation Celebrity Electro-Acoustic
Ibanez ATK300 Bass
Fender 50s Reissue Stratocaster
I play through a Vox VT50 and a Marshall 30 Watt solid state for the bass!

Yeah, 4001s look pretty nice, although I prefer the darker burgundy colour like what Cliff Burton played.

I wish Ibanez would stop putting that veneer crap on the ATK's headstocks. I had one from before they were discontinued, and it was quite gorgeous in that simple sort of way. Now if i wanted to get the nearest thing to it, it would be sparkly black with matching headstock, and unless im mistaken a white glittery pickguard as well.
Still, nice gear there.:)
because looks are all that matters in a guitar
No one buys a guitar on tone and feel alone, if a guitar isnt't aesthetically pleasing, i just won't be buying it, unless it has a spectacular property, like oh i dunno carved solely from the right ribs of a tyrannosaur

no shit, but you have to consider all the aspects of a guitar as a whole, not just buy a $2500 guitar because it's blue
I found a great deal of Schecter C-7 FR from an american store, that ships to Finland with an acceptable price.
"Sorry! Due to the manufacturer restrictions the following items cannot be shipped to your country
Schecter C-7 FR hellraiser, Schecter diamons series gigbag"
:rage:
It does however, look extremely nice

Though I have respect for Rickenbacker (created the first electric guitar) I think a lot of their designs look odd in a very unappealingly, awkward sort of way.
you know it's a rick as soon as you see it though :v:

It's usually cheaper to order from UK or Germany since they are inside EU borders there will be no import taxes.

i want an Epiphone G-400, but way out of my budget. :saddowns:

Yes, your cheap cable is not helping with the noise. Does it make the same noise if you bring it to other peoples house and plug it in? Is your gain/drive/whatever at 10? Does the noise go away if you touch your strings and something else metal? If the answer to these is pretty much a no, go loan a (decent) cable from a friend and see if that helps before you drop some cash on a new one.
FUCK FUCKING FUCK FUCK RAAARRR
The guy with the esp says he can't swap for my Jackson, and someone bid on the guitar. I can either try and outbid on the other guy or spend about 2.5 times as much on a new ESP. And I still have to find a way to sell my Jackson.

I bought mine second hand from my guitar teacher, great guitar, really worth the money.
In one and a half hours I will either be one guitar up or the same as I am now. I hate bidding on eBay, it's so tense and stressful.

Didn't you just buy a new guitar? Be happy with what you've got.

:( I feel really bad now. I'm not a rich snobby idiot I swear! If it makes you feel any better I doubt I'll win the bid.

No, I just recieved a relatively large sum of money after my grandma died, and I choose to spend it on guitars.

Glorious, glorious victory. I won it.
Also can I call dibs on making the new guitar thread?

I had my friend Tom install a pickup for me since I had no idea how it was done, it was just the other day that I found out he doesn't even own a soldering gun, he just tapes the wires with electrical tape... after I've wiped the blood off my shovel I'll resolder my wires.
