aw shit i guess i should have said series. Im lookin on the fender site and they have different series at different price levels: American Deluxe, American Standard, Standard, Deluxe, Player, etc.
i dunno i guess the question should be how much money should i be prepared to throw at a good strat?
I got a Fender Mexican made Strat for $400. Not a bad price at all and the thing plays like a dream.

I think the standard and deluxe models are of similar build quality, the deluxes just usually have fancy finishes and stuff like that.
And while Classic Strats are made in Mexico they are pretty much the same quality as American Standards.

I really don't know why people are like OH LOL ITS A TEXMEX
someone explain why texmex strats should be mocked?
They play fine to me, I actually prefer the Mexican 50s reissue to any old ordinary American Standard, got some far nicer tones out of its old staggered pole pickups...but hten again that's taste. I go for a twangy, Dire Straits style sound as opposed to a beefy Eric Clapton style.

So the American Standards are practically a waste of money? :frogbon:
I got myself a Roland Cube, the 15x or the 15 watt version
I want to play it so fucking badly, but I have no guitar lol
I've been playing music through my psp onto it, so the first song I guess I played with it was Laid To Rest by Lamb of God.
:v:
would it be a better option to go for a Fender Deluxe (mexican) or a Highway One (american) series strat?
they're both about the same price but most websites are being really vague about important differences
I'd go with the Deluxe, Highway One is like the most basic of the basic American strats. But maybe that's just me. And I think the finishes were really thin on the HW1's.
Should get my Horizon tomorrow, cannot wait! It's the most beatiful guitar, the one I'm getting has a few chips in it but I got about £1000 off the retail price so I don't mind.
Somebody mail me a guitar
I'll be your friend

The Deluxe is made from an ash body, and the HWY1 is made from alder.
All the deluxe models have pearl pickguards, I think, while the HWY1 has a 3 ply pickguard I think.
The deluxe models has poly finish, while the HWY1 has a thinskin satin nitrocellulose lacquer, wich is better, if you ask me, as it wears down faster, and is generally considered better than poly finishes.
The deluxe has a button that does something with the pickups, kind of like a Fender S1 system I think.
The Deluxe has "Vintage noiseless strat pickups" that I don't know alot about, but the HWY1 has rather hot (high output) alnico 3 pickups.
The Deluxe has a 12" neck radius, while the HWY1 has a rounder, 9.5" radius.
So basically, the Highway One is a real player, without all the bells and whistles, while the Deluxe has a "cooler" finish and pickguard if you dig that.
I have a HWY1 myself and I love it, awesome guitar, though I'm thinking of changing the pickups as they are a little too modern for me.
Couldn't find a demo of a Deluxe players, but here's one for a HWY1

I've got an Eastwood Stormbird and a black Fender Squire Strat, my first guitar.
The Stormbird is like the cousin to the Eastwood JR Elite, the guitar Johnny Ramone played.
White Eastwood Stormbird
Great for surf, punk, and definitely blues.

Cause of the extended range? Cause they are awesome? Cause you can play meshuggah on them?

Not all guitarists are metalheads :eng101:
But a $1200 6 string will be better quality than a $1200 8 string, since 8 strings cost more to make in the first place.
I'm looking for a new amp and the Bugera 6262 looks quite nice. What do people think about it? It's all tube, 120w (which is way more than I'll ever need) plus pretty well priced.

Who says you need to be a metalhead to play an extended range guitar, they were originally used for jazz if i remember correctly
EDIT: and it depends you could probably get a smoking hot luhiered 8 string that would be just as good if not better than a 1200 electric, but if you want a six why not try the esp ec 1000

Or he could buy a Rickenbacker.
get a rickenbacker do it do it
A Rickenbacker for $1200?
I don't think so.

It wouldn't be much more expensive, usually only because 8-string bridges and the such are more expensive due to the niche market for them.
I'd still rather a $1200 8-er to a $1200 6-er :science:
Oh also I got my ESP last night! It's so amazing! I need to adjust the action and get new strings for it. Every guitar I buy seems to have thick ass strings on it. It's really light and super thin, which feels a bit wierd, but it is really quite awesome. I may replace the pickups on it, I doubt it though, the SDs are really versatile. I want to replace the pickups on my Jackson though, I can't decide whether I want something light like DiMarzios, or something heavy like EMGs.
Also what are good Bluesy pickups?
Also does anyone know what polespacing the Jackson Soloist or ESP Horizon are? I tried measuring but since the difference between standard and F spacing is only a couple of milimetres I don't really trust myself to do it right.

Who says DiMarzios are light? If by heavy you mean sterile then yes, EMGs are heavy. If you're looking for that EMG sound but with a more organic versatile edge you should look into SD Blackouts. They are tempting me but I love the passive DiMarzios in my RG.
