Not saying this is by any means the most credible source.
http://www.grumpymiddleagedman.co.uk/2012/10/27/derren-browns-apocalypse-fake-is-steve-brosnan-as-actor/
but it breaks my heart.
Does that really prove anything?
He auditioned for the show because apparently he wanted to be an actor or at least on TV so him having a profile on an acting site doesn't seem too far fetched.
Oh well, I pretty much knew it was fake from the part where he gets "knocked out". Still, it'll be interesting to watch.
There is no proof that it's fake. In every one of Derren's shows that are just as far fetched as this there is no proof it's fake.
Give me a credible academic journal and I'll be quiet, honest. I want to believe just as much as you, but this just takes the biscuit

Really?...
You guys believe that someone can just put his fingers on someones head and he'll pass out? What a load of bullshit.
Maybe Derren Browns real abilities consist of tricking his viewers into believing he can do this stuff
I suppose even the water bottles could be just a result of editing, not necessarily a result of stopping the "scene"
I wish they would release more 'behind the scenes' footage of like when they were hanging up the cameras and how they builded this world
http://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?q=Neuro-linguistic+programming&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5
Hear me out on this, NLP is actually bullshit. The hypnosis used in what people understand to be NLP is legit but there's a lot of "fluff" in NLP as a whole. That's why Derren Brown "uses" it. There's a lot of misinformation surrounding it and at its core the effective stuff is just plain old hypnosis. Any time Derren says he's using NLP it's just to cover up his actual method whether it be practical (like a simple magic trick) or by means of conventional hypnotism.

I feel dirty giving away such secrets but it's so tempting

How this even came up on Scholar I have no idea.
It is quite clearly a load of rubbish, to be frank
Again, if you can find me a single scientific article with correct references, an abstract and a conclusion (like any formal, well written report) I will be quiet
The show makes it clear that "Doomsday" was on the 31st of august this year, so they finished filming a few days after that. That gives him two months to run two marathons and become a finalist in a sports tournament. Don't be ridiculous. Not to mention one of the listed awards is from 2009.

Also, as of six months ago, Steven Brosnan was in a commercial. NEVERMIND, TURNS OUT THIS IS THIS GUY: http://www.castingcallpro.com/uk/view.php?uid=242736

Well fuck, and here's an example of time where they must have stopped filming the "scene" and resumed it later.

They're sitting there on the floor with the vehicles stopped, Ian opens the door and introduces himself. Steven and the girl remain still the entire time as well but the water bottles magically vanish.
God dammit derren what are you doing
um, you see the bottles further back. the van was going all over the place, they just slid back?
I think it's strange that the YouTube account that posted that video of Steve Brosnan in the panini advert has so many copies of the video.
http://www.youtube.com/user/bjlgroup
Maybe the whole thing is an even bigger version of Derren's Gameshow episode he did in which he tried to discover if people would really go as far as to nearly ruin someone's life via choice, but this time eliminating choice and judging by maybe social interactions like Twitter/Facebook to see what people think and how their reactions. I don't know, but something like this on such a grand scale is what he's known for.
Maybe he's trying to find out how quick it takes people to judge or uncover something? By maybe seeing how quickly they can determine if the show is in fact reality or not. There were a lot of things in the show that seemed plausible but then again there were a lot of things that just usually wouldn't happen.
The guy in it is from where I live, he was a year above me at my school. Weird seeing my local pub etc :D
um, you see the bottles further back. the van was going all over the place, they just slid back?
Read the words I typed out first and get back to me on that.
It's still entirely plausible he either kicked the bottles back with his leg or Ian's erratic driving pushed them around.
No, you obviously haven't read what I posted either. What is wrong with you?
The vehicle was completely stationary during that time. The bottles end up tucked in the corner behind his right leg, he would have only had what looks like 2 or 3 seconds to move them there and there isn't any reason for him to have done so, he was engaged with Ian.
I have 25 mutual friends with him on Facebook, shame I didn't get to know him when we were at school. I'll try find out more info about its authenticity although he's probably under contract not to say anything or something.

Wait really
I really couldn't give any less of a shit if it's fake or not, with most magicians, illusionist or whatever, I always realise that if I knew how it was done it wouldn't be impressive. I'd say quite a lot of really incredible magic tricks, and stuff like this, are actually really cheap tricks, it just depends on how complicated and impossible to do the audience thinks it is.
Seriously entertaining show though, the whole time I was wondering how I'd react if I was on T.V. like that and didn't know it.
The whole hypnosis stuff is pretty weird (can you really hypnotize a guy that thinks he's in the middle of a meteor shower?), but I guess that's the reason he cherry picks his candidates.
i wish i didn't read this thread
it's like when i found out santa clause wasnt real. I knew he wasn't, but it still made me feel bad when i found out it was fake
i was happy in my sphere of ignorance

Hold on. Santa isn't real?
Hold on. Santa isn't real?
He's real alright, he uses NLP.
Flying reindeer, NLP. 822 homes per second? NLP.
Shocking twist of the story: He also uses NLP to make you think that you wanted what you got, when in reality you wanted different shit that he just didn't want to give you.
ANYONE could have made that profile. Heck I bet whoever wrote that article made it.
Its got a video of him to be fair.
I'm open minded and shit, but Derren is fake.

Annnnnnd this is why I generally keep away from youtube comments, screw Steve, I'm going to need a bloody psychiatrist. I don't know weather to laugh or cry at that.
So... there are three parts... where are the others?
So... there are three parts... where are the others?
The three-part thing was just the first episode. We're waiting for the next one.
...eagerly.
I find it really hard to believe that this isn't scripted.
And it kinda makes me upset that they went with the whole zombie infection cliche instead of a more believable disaster.
wow, you guys believe this is real?
he's an illusionist, his job is to make his VIEWERS AKA YOU make believe what he's doing is actually real.

looks like he failed
TBH I still believe it, i did a small course in hypnotism and everything derren has done in this program is legit. i think the zombie thing makes it a bit weird but. Either way its a great watch!
