You can do without being condescending. I know blanks can kill and my point still stands, its still bullshitting, its not hiding a method, as you said it was too be dramatic. While using a fake gun and a fake actor are different in relation to the actual event, it still shows he has the capacity to bullshit for reasons other than the experiment itself.
You didn't seem to know that blanks can kill so I was just using you as an example to make it clear that many people don't. "To make it dramatic" is an understatement because very few people would understand that there's even risk involved. He might as well say it's a water gun, no one would watch it. There wouldn't be a show without the idea of live rounds (which again, they were forced to use blanks by the networks/government). The gun isn't fake and the man isn't an actor.
Some of you believe this? It's uncanny how many things are out of place, the whole thing is fake.
Steven is a fucking actor for crying out loud.
It's still entertaining to watch, but this is the worst thing i've seen derren brown do in a long while.
Why is it that no one even read the blog post about all this yet they continue to talk about it. Read this (all of it)
I read it. I also have a pet monkey who teaches me quantum mechanics while riding a unicycle.
If you don't believe that, why do you believe Darren Brown?

Yes, yes we get it, you're so much smarter than everyone else.
The video still doesn't address why his supposed life as a moocher doesn't add up. Looking it up Darren Brown has been a bullshitter before so I'm guessing this will be verified as fake pretty soon.
What part of it doesn't add up? In the show they had access to his Twitter so you'd assume they'd be more careful and would of done something about it. The Twitter account could be made by anyone. I think people are trying to hard to disprove this. It doesn't automatically become fake when there is something out of place, just because it's Derren Brown. However, he does 'fake' stuff:

I think it's real though. It would seem like a complete waste of time and money if it wasn't.

In the lottery event, Derren purposefully gives the viewer everything they need to know to figure out how he really did it. The only trick in that series was seeing how much information he could purposefully give away and still misdirect people away from people figuring it out.
Again, he tells you and shows you it's a camera trick and deliberately reveals the equipment used to do the trick during the show. The rest of the hour is spent trying to make you forget what you just saw and heard.

Perhaps you missed my point. I gave an example of something ridiculous, similar to Darren Brown's explanation. He bought Darren's story but not mine, I'm pointing out the fact he also shouldn't just take what Darren says as fact. Darren needs money, he's not about to go "yeah, okay, you're right. It was all setup" He's going to fight tooth and nail, even if that means trying to make people who doubt him feel bad:
My shows always provoke a flurry of people insisting it’s all fake, and I’ve come to expect that – exhausting and hurtful though it can be after months and months of love and sweating blood to make such massively ambitious and heart-felt programmes.
My point is, don't just blindly accept what he says as fact. It amazes me, those who believe this seem to be the ones who don't look into it at all. Their idea of looking into it is going to Darrens website and looking up what he said. Expand your search and look for some real proof, if you can find me some, I'll keep to my promise and shut up. Until then, why believe Darren over logic?
I'm not smarter than everyone else, if I came across as someone who thought that I apologise
Well, some of us have looked into it and I've heard plenty from third party sources. Why believe him over logic? Well, he's given a logical explanation which I have seen evidence for before and he has a history of being honest.

The difference between what you said and what Derren Brown did is that what you said is absurd and what Derren does is actually possible. What exactly does he do that you don't think is possible? Also include how you think he could fake the things you don't think are possible.
Until someone provides a medical article that says why some people can be so suggestible as to be hypnotized in a second then I can't really watch this as well as I'd like to.
Also, why didn't he find it a bit strange that the keys were inside the door and thrown on the floor? Why weren't they on the table instead?
Also, why didn't he find it a bit strange that the keys were inside the door and thrown on the floor? Why weren't they on the table instead?
If you woke up in an abandoned hospital, would the first thought on your mind be "Wait a goddamn second... why are there keys on the floor and not on the table?"
Probably not, it'd be something like "Where the hell am I jesus christ what the fuck"
Plus, it was obviously put there so he could find it easily.
My mum in her work field (psychology and mental health) has trained in hypnosis, fucking crazy shit how easy it is to put someone in a trance or sleeping state.
[editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
2% of the population is very suggestible to hypnosis, making it very easy too discover who these people are using simple hypnotic trances.

You cant just instantly hypnotize someone like that, Darren would of done a lot of background work prior to trying that move on him, certain objects in a room, certain words, triggers etc.
so there is gonna be episode 2 tomorrow? I can't wait.
TBH, I don't care if the show is real or fake, it is still pretty interesting to think about what would happen if something like this did happen.
Does anyone know a way to watch the second episode today even though you're outside of the UK?
I love how everyone makes up the most bizarre explanations that don't make any more sense of the situation
Lets be realistic here, if such a power existed and worked in the same way it did in the show, we'd
A) Have some scientific proof of it. Still waiting on that scientific article 'Slater' said he'd provide!
B) Have a lot more people using it for their own benefit. Does it not seem suspicious to you that these things only happen at shows? Have you ever seen a news article describing a victim who was hypnotised and then made to do X or Y?
No, even though hypnosis in this form is supposedly such a powerful tool. I'm not denying hypnosis, but I am denying someone's ability to just tap them on the head and have them fall asleep.
You do, however, hear stories of people shot with guns, for example. Guns that are designed with a real science, with real facts and real physics. Not some mystical power that doesn't appear to have any scientific proof whatsoever.
Hypnosis isn't some myth. It's heavily researched in the psychological community. The reason you can't hypnotize people to go kill someone is that they have to want to be hypnotized. People who volunteer on stage want to be hypnotized. The reason they are willing to do all of that shit like sing taylor swift songs is because they know it's all in good fun, and they're there to have a good time. You're gonna have a really hard time trying to convince someone to kill someone else.

An hour and a half I think, no?
oh yeah, hour left.
Just be patient, the show will run live in the UK then in a few hours someone will post it online.
I enjoyed that.
The girl was 22?
wow.
Anyone know where i can watch it?
Shit son, that was awesome.

Actually Darren Brown did hypnotize someone to kill Steven Fry. So... Yeah.
The first parts of EP2 can already be found on the same YouTube channel that has EP1 uploaded:

I belive it.
His reactions when he sees his family again, he was a complete mess.
It's too human to be acting for me.
What's up with the Wilhelm scream?
Loved the nod to 28 Days Later near the end, heh.
