Multiplay is expensive. And when I tried checking out their prices, it gives me the same price for a 4 and 8 slot server, and the form glitches out when I change different specs.
By the way JWJ, you should definitely have built in presets to your server customization thing.
Softlayer Global Sales just contacted me directly saying how they were watching the whole situation and sent me a quote very close to what we had at Brohoster.. looks like I might be able to do an even better config, although it's gonna cut into our profit margins for sure. not that I'm new to that. :v:
If they are watching the situation could you request we get backups? [shameless hopeful hope] :P

We're working on it. [editline]28th July 2011[/editline] Ninja'd again.
Okay first thing I want to say is that I have read this thread and i felt like crying from all the depression, I could not begin to fathom what it would feel like to have your job and hobby which you love doing just taken bellow your feet. I have been with BH for several months with a minecraft server. I have poured weeks of time into making my server, probably a full months worth of time into building. I have not once backed up my world outside of my server, I never once imagined that BH would just spontaneously die like that, not once. I don NOT care about the money that i paid for the server, because, why did I pay for the server? So i could use it. The reason I'm asking all this is because I just want a solid answer from an employee as to whether or not there will be a chance to recover our world data. ive seen plenty of people saying "no it's been reformatted" and some saying "I got to recover it" which just confuses me. So I just want an honest answer as to what's going to happen.
it's in my belief that the data is still sitting and possibly even still running on the remote boxes. Softlayer doesn't reclaim for (I believe) a week, they simply disconnect all your public ports.
I'd avoid Multiplay like the plague personally, by the way...
Any paticular reason for this? Wondering if made a mistake in choice of temporary host now.

Man, reading this thread is better than watching a suspense movie friday night, it's got it all. Friendship, love, hope, wives, conflict, film-montage-imagery, everything. But, as this guy said on brohosters facebook fan-page: "1.8 was gonna clean us out anyway". Nice to finally see flowers unfolding and the love and hope spreading in this thread. Things are quiet and sweet. So, as soon as my friend with whom I had the server with returns from Sweden, I'll be sure to look at lethaldrive. Now with our minecraft server down I guess I can finally focus on what I should be doing. Exercise and studying d;
I wish they'd just let us hop on our FTPs and grab our files, and be gone. I had such a sweet map... damnit. Oh well, more Dead Mau5 for now.

Guys, I can confirm the data IS on the SL boxes still. WIth the non-payment SL policy is that they deactivate the public ports so they aren't customer facing any longer. I can personally VPN in along with other 'BH Staff' It's just too slow and too much data to do anything. I've been working with SL for a chunk of the night for the sole purpose of attempting to get customers access to their data. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with their tech support, had the issue escalated to accounting, had it escalated further to our SR Account Manager (who is unavailable) and have updated the existing payment ticket with a request to get this done. I've also asked Jake to discuss with his contact at SL (our old Account Manager) if there's anything he can do for us. So the data is there for 48 more hours. And I'm busting my ass to do what I can. I can't gaurentee they will say yes, but here's hoping. - Larry

It's a morals thing. This entire situation is bullshit. I haven't been with BH as long as the others, but I've always done what was best / right for the customers (to the best of my abilities). I empathize with the people who have lost Minecraft / gameserver / terraria server data, or the people who're running businesses off CUP webhosting. This isn't their fault, and they're the one's who're affected by it. My goal is to make one right, in a shit storm of wrong.
