I read that SoftLayer keep boxes with data on them for 7 days after a missed payment. There might still be a bit more time left.
You're right. Where did the 48 hours come from in the first place?
All Customer data remaining after seven (“7”) days of nonpayment will be destroyed for security and privacy reasons, unless otherwise required by law.
Source: http://http.cdnlayer.com/softlayerweb/SoftLayer_MSA.pdf
The servers are still up and running and we're working on some way to get SL to open public ports to allow data to be retrieved. I've done what I can with the VPN I don't know if it's been blocked or if there's an issue at Hexxeh's side. Sorry guys, we're really trying hard.

Source: http://http.cdnlayer.com/softlayerweb/SoftLayer_MSA.pdf
48 hours came from sl in an email. i would think it was a way for them to try to force payment so we didn't lose everyone's data....good idea! lol we are still trying, will update with info as we get it!
You're right. Where did the 48 hours come from in the first place? Source: http://http.cdnlayer.com/softlayerweb/SoftLayer_MSA.pdf
I guess a couple of days between the servers going down and when everyone started the rush for files.
What is the timeline for the Data on the softlayer servers being wiped? And do you know if JWJ is awake/online?
We're not sure exactly when. We assume that process is on hold due to meetings we're carrying out right now.
FYI, I just had the CC info that I used to pay for brohoster jacked. Not saying it's necessarily related, but the timing is a bit odd.
With Softlayer. [editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
FYI, I just had the CC info that I used to pay for brohoster jacked.
There have been no confidential data leaks. Contact your credit card entity.
FYI, I just had the CC info that I used to pay for brohoster jacked. Not saying it's necessarily related, but the timing is a bit odd.
I really doubt CU would jack your credit-card info....
So the billing information was stored in a different place than all of the mc server data people are downloading these past few hours? Like I said, I'm not trying to say it's related, I'm just making sure it isn't. The card is already cancelled, and I've got local law enforcement involved in the area where they purchased things.
I'm pretty sure the sites were hosted elsewhere (linode?)
FYI, I just had the CC info that I used to pay for brohoster jacked. Not saying it's necessarily related, but the timing is a bit odd.
Isn't it through Paypal? AKA, CU/BH never actually had your info?
So the billing information was stored in a different place than all of the mc server data people are downloading these past few hours?
Yes.
This may be a stupid question, but where is hexxeh? Seems like he would be the best person to fix his own vpn.
This may be a stupid question, but where is hexxeh? Seems like he would be the best person to fix his own vpn.
Camp Facepunch. And it's not his VPN, he's running a reverse proxy that uses the VPN to give access to people's files.
Camp Facepunch. And it's not his VPN, he's running a reverse proxy that uses the VPN to give access to people's files.
Camp Facepunch sounds like a blast. So I guess he'll be back tomorrow? Hope the servers don't get wiped before then.
I'm up, what do you guys need to know? We can keep you updated on plans now.
I payed for a server 2-3 days before brohoster shutdown and i cant seem to find my username on the pastebin list. could this be because of how new the account was? or some other reason?
aww man, the servers still down :( I think this is the end of my world :/
I know this may have been already answered. But a list of the US servers were posted, what about the guys like me who host on the Frankfurt data centre? Is there no way we can reclaim our data?
I got really lucky. I run LogBlock on my Minecraft server and it had stored the data on an external database at my house. So I just did /lb redo before 07.30.11 and it kind of did a roll-forward. So noe my constructions are back!

The list hadn't been updated.
And you're trying to find your TCAdmin username, right? The list hadn't been updated.
I take it you don't have any time-frame of when the servers will be back online, If this has already been answered I'm sorry, I was away.
I take it you don't have any time-frame of when the servers will be back online, If this has already been answered I'm sorry, I was away.
Not really, I'm sorry I can't provide a to-the-minute time till dead count, but we just don't know for sure when everything's gonna be gone.
I take it you don't have any time-frame of when the servers will be back online, If this has already been answered I'm sorry, I was away.
You mean when brohosters servers will be online again? Never. If you mean like when you can start getting stuff again, then there isn't a time-frame.
Sorry to be kind of irrelevant but what is Camp Facepunch? :)
Sorry to be kind of irrelevant but what is Camp Facepunch? :)
It's where a bunch of nerds go into the woods to 'talk about computer parts and tf2'
okay guys...we've been talking to sl we are working out a plan. we've agreed that they will not reclaim the servers while we work with them. so at the moment all your data is safe! if someone can also post this in IRC for me please i can't get in there i dunno why. i'm just the typing monkey *g*
Nice news, waiting! Thx guys!
