New members forum is an awful idea, it's pretty much a free post.

look at the event log. count the amount of people who joined today. tell me if 5 threads a day about people who are boring as fuck is a good idea.

Turn on smartness for new members, then turn it off after a month. That would solve the problems.

Almost everybody's first post is terrible, but over time you get better. Case in point: My first ever post got 4 dumbs. My Second ever post got 37 Agrees.
