-40% tighter graphics -depth -fun interesting side missions -better music -better gameplay (for real this looks like it plays like ghostbusters on the NES) and that's about it
1. I don't really know how tighter 40% would be. Let's just make them better. 2. Luckly for you, the game does have depth. I might have mentioned this earlier, but only the first two mission's do you actually deliver pizza, I don't want spoilers, but the game has really more of a mystery storyline. 3. There will be plenty of fun side missions. The gameplay will vary, and they will be interesting. 4. We are working on it. What did you think of my latest piece? I think it needs a bass line. 5. Well, you don't have to repeatedly tap space to move Bob up stairs. That's a start.
This game reminds me of Lego Island smh
4. We are working on it. What did you think of my latest piece? I think it needs a bass line.
It's a lot better but it still sounds like it's lacking a lot of depth and harmonies. Out of curiosity, are you making the music yourself or are you paying someone to do it? [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] Also what program are you using
That track which was posted sounds like a MIDI from the '90s... Get the with the times
What a shitstorm of a thread, I wonder what the Greenlight page will be like. Atleast people stopped being ironically satirical and sarcastic... Shandy, you'd be better of ditching this thread and just work on your game. Do it for the people that backed you on Kickstarter.
One of the core problems about this game is the game engine I was doing this shit as part of my GCSE course when I was 15. I made games that were as of this quality, if not better, than what you are releasing right now - and I didn't even have any coding experience. I would have never dreamed of even showing anybody other than the exam board these games, let alone raising £800 on kickstarter. Here's what you should do from now. o Finish the game, deliver on the kickstarter promises, pray you don't get sued. o Learn to code in a couple of different languages and continue doing this for years in to the future. Do not even dream of releasing another game for another couple of years unless you release it for free in order to get advice and criticism. o Once you're competent with coding enough to make a good game with good artwork etc THEN start considering releasing it. Do NOT use crowdfunding. You're about to waste £800 - consider yourself lucky that it isn't your own money.
I see where you're getting at, and that was what I was thinking of doing. The reason I want to release this game is simply because I love it so much. Hundreds of others evidently do as well. This is the present, not the future, so I can't tell you that will or will not do any other projects in the next few years. But what I can tell you is that I am learning. I am improving, and I am enjoying every moment.
Also when learning to use applications get free "demo" versions before you buy them. The pricing of these programs are designed for actual publishers who are expected to release a paid-for product. The "demo" versions also allow you to evaluate which programs you like and which ones you don't. Do not waste money on products released by unknown companies that sell licenses for £40. The same goes for products that help you to "automate" processes with "ease" and have taglines such as "Become a pro in just hours!". Don't be lazy and instead learn how to use the professional programs. This takes years, and your first adapted Scratch project isn't ready to be released. But now that you've already raised the money make an effort to actually deliver on your promises - but stop releasing games after that until you are ready. Also, listen to the advice in the thread. I'd also suggest not creating all the assets by yourself. By assets, I mean sound effects, artwork, music , voices etc. There is a website called Fiverr that lets you buy a professional service for £5. Make sure that you agree to have the full license of the created product, though.

But people have been contacting me, asking whether they could create music for the game. I am using Mixcraft to make the game, simply because of it's value. It isn't perfect, but it's good enough. Before we switched our game to construct 2, we did tests on other game engines. None of them really rivaled with C2. I know it's simple, and limited. But that doesn't make it bad.

So anyway, I was thinking of doing a live stream some time, driving around in GTPD and answering questions. Would any of you be interested, or is it just another pointless idea of mine?
This kid gets 800£ and I can't even get more than 10 people playing my TTT modification. Should I consider suicide?

I used to screw a lot in Construct 1 when i didn't know any programming, i can say i miss it. Construct 2 just doesn't feel right. [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] Also Construct 1 is still more powerfull than 2 and it's free (as in free beer). [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] I just got what you meant. :v:
This is going to crash and burn, I don't understand how he doesn't realize this yet.
I see where you're getting at, and that was what I was thinking of doing. It's the same thing that happened to that potato salad Kickstarter. People donated as a joke and it seems like you're taking it as they want this game. Like others have said before, it's a game that should be kept as a project and released for free if released at all. No one is going to seriously play this and you'll just get shit on if it actually goes on sale on Steam.
Watch it pop up and get greenlit on Steam.
If this can get funded i'm sure mine can too
A lot of people have given some great advice here, specifically in regards to how using this engine is pretty much a guaranteed lack of actual gain in development (aka coding) experience. But hey, people payed 800 pound for this. Just let him discover for himself that it might not be the best of long-term ideas.
Just an update, Rather controversially, I've decided to try and greenlight the game. I know I will get a lot of hate for this, but I think it will be best. Steam is a great environment to sell games and it would be great to get it on there. There are a lot of you who don't think this game should be on greenlight, and in many ways, I agree with you. That is why we are going to work on the game quite a bit before we put the game on greenlight. We think it will be best if we finish the Alpha build, get feedback back from the community, improve on the feedback, and then greenlight the game. Once we think the game is stable, we think that is when we should show it to steam. We think that the steam users would see the best in the game when it's in a good state. I know standards for steam games are high, and we aim to deliver. If you strongly think that we shouldn't have the game on steam, there is something very simple to do. I've made a chart to help you.
Thanks, I now know how Steam Greenlight works, thanks for the tutorial [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] i'll click yes
Will it have Steam trading cards now? :v: Also seriously, don't do this. Your behaviour is the same as a 3 yo child drawing a crappy picture and then trying to force everyone to hang it on his fridge. Feel free to make your first steps with this but don't consider seriously selling this on steam. It is an insult to everyone's intelligence. Don't feel personally attacked but ... Your game is an utter mess of bullshit and you wanting to charge money for it makes me imagine people who think their piss is delicious lemonade and try to sell it to others because they are convinced that it tastes awesome. Don't do this, atleast realize you haven't reached any level of quality to justify this.
If he wants to try and get it on Steam, let him. You can always state your opinion by simply hitting the downvote button, as he's said. Seriously, this is the exact same as any other project trying to get greenlight. I don't quite understand why you guys are so against him trying to put it on Steam when it's not even guaranteed to go on. He's persisting to put it on Greenlight, he's not gonna stop. What harm will it do to anyone if he tries to greenlight it?
You obviously overestimate the intelligence of the average internet user. Especially on Greenlight.
You obviously overestimate the intelligence of the average internet user. Especially on Greenlight.
That didn't answer my question. What harm does it do if he tries to Greenlight it? And, assuming that it actually does get greenlit, what harm does that do to anyone?
Hi. My name is Ned Reid
If he's still gonna try to get this on Greenlight at this point, then
I simply don't want to see more bullshit on steam. I got enough. Don't you aswell?
I simply don't want to see more bullshit on steam. I got enough. Don't you aswell?
Seriously, is this game being on Steam really that big a problem for you? Why don't you just let it exist and ignore it? Contribute your opinion by saying "No, I don't want it on Steam" on Greenlight, as I will, and get over it. I really don't see the point in trying to tell the guy to not greenlight it when it's really up to the community if they want it on. If the majority wants these kind of games on Steam, what does it matter to you?
I think you fail to see that my concern is not only THIS game. If THIS can come through, then a lot of other shit can come through aswell. And we have already seen it. I am heavily fed up with this shit and I hate to see that people don't even make up their damn mind and just consider not sharing their redundant contribution to the world to everyone. It is about making everyones life a little easier, less cluttered up with trash and people realizing when shit is crap and they shouldn't bother anyone with it. This game is merely a small part of everything that is wrong with greenlight, the fact that EVERYONE can submit a dead crap and that this takes away exposure for potentially good games, ones which might be doomed to be never seen.
