Future self: Talk to her yet?
Hey man, listen I know this last semester I just past was rough, but I know you can do better these next two. Kick colleges ass. It'll be damn close to med school application time when you read this. Don't fuck up, we need that GPA to be okay so we can shine with the MCAT. You and Alyssa will be fast approaching the two year mark, so she'll be there to keep you calm just like she is now <3.
Hey, did you finally get a part time job like you've been wanting too? Did you start actually being physically active instead of walking around in your pajamas eating ravioli ravioli?
Dear me, Stop being a depressed piece of shit, and remember to just go with what ever happens, and remember to start using the gym when you can. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing, get good grades, keep being that funny guy, you seem pretty okay at the moment.
Dear me, better be alive and not let depression fuck you over. I hope you come across this message on 2014. Shit gets better every year, you should know that.
Dear future me, I know we started the year rough, having panic attacks and all. But, at least you went to Germany and stuff like that in March, that must have been great! You'll have to tell me about it via Time Fax or something. I'm hoping if you have any sad times between now and then, Germany would hopefully eradicate them for awhile. I mean shit, you're the first one in your family to have gone to a foreign country besides canada! I hope you find someone that makes you feel like you belong, I know that's been a real issue for the both of us. The world may seem unforgiving and cruel to you now, but I'm positive in the end, you'll find something worth living for. Even if it's not for the love of a person, it'll be something. How'd your robotics competition with your friends go? I hope it went well. I hope TSA went well too, I know they're pretty new things, but even if you failed them the first time, it's good to try new things. I also really hope District Chorus went well because you've been working pretty hard to get your voice ready for that. I know it was hard to do that given being sick and all for a couple months, but I'm betting you did great! I hope you've been practicing your programming and your writing, we ended 2012 being pretty interested in those, and pretty passionate about it, so I hope you put that passion to something good! I really fucking hope you finished those 2 Source Filmmaker movies you were working on for awhile but stopped, if they arent done by 2014 i'm going to be sincerely disappointed in you. I also hope that your new persona that you've been trying to adopt works well, or at the very least the shitty one we're currently stuck with becomes less shitty. I also hope your body got less fat, I'm pretty sick of looking at my fatass every day. I also REALLY hope you learned how to drive by now because fuck you're gonna be a senior in high school when you read this, if you can't drive by then you're a twat. Anyway, I hope 2013 will have gone well for you, maybe it will be the first year you really feel important. Hugs and kisses, your past self.
Get your shit together.
Evening me, I just wrote up a response to 2011/12 you, so now I'm writing to 2013/14 me. I guess that makes me the middle man, so I hope I haven't fucked too much up. There's a lot riding on me right now, and if I've slipped up once in this year, I'm sorry for what it would have brought you. I know that from your perspective, I could have done so much to avoid anything from happening, but you know that realistically, that couldn't happen. No regrets, right? So if I've cracked open any of the nicely labelled cans of hell in 2013, I'm sorry. At least take comfort in the knowledge you're on the other end of it now. On a brighter note, I hope everything's going well with University. By now, you will have (probably) finished your first year, and (probably) traveled thousands of miles in commuting. That's pretty neat. I hope work went well, and I hope you've stared getting in the mood to do stuff in your own time, you know that's what leads to the best stuff. Anyway, I'm keeping this one short, after last time, Just remember, there's always a way out. Never resign to despair.
Happy new year, future me! It's me, you from January 1st 2013. Hey, do you remember last new years eve? When you, being the crazy son of a bitch you are, took the train to the city by yourself? Because a voice in your head told you to? You got a six-inch subway and cried like a little baby over that one girl. Remember that? Good times. By the by, did she show her face at drama last year? Did you finally figure out what the hell was going through her head when she dumped you? On the topic of girls, did you get yourself laid yet? Just curious, it doesn't really matter if you didn't (you're only 16 mate don't sweat it). Props to you if you did though, hope PE didn't fuck you over. Sex aside, how many girls have you gone out with this year? Surely you've met somebody nice by now? If so, I hope you at least managed more than one date this time, you pathetic sad sack. On another note, I suspect by now you're a smouldering hunk of raw muscle, if you've been keeping up your workout routine. Good on you, you sexy beast you. Unless of course you've given up on fitness, in which case fuck you. I hope for your sake you've at least made a few friends at whatever school you're going to now. Oh, and don't forget to write a message to yourself for next year. Have a happy 2014 dipshit. P.S. Did you finally get your bitch tits off? What about that jaw reconstruction thing you wanted done?
Well, that was a better year than the other. I hope everything's going to be fine, especially hearing about the things our drunk mom said. You know, I tear up when I think about it. Not sure how about you now. I hope everything's better than it is now, man. Hope you get to the next class no problem and get a good grade from that one subject. Also, may you get someone to get inside that empty spot in your heart, damn that is so cliche but hey. Maybe you'll stop feeling so lonely all of the time. Oh and may our brother grow the fuck up. That'd be awesome. Have a great year, again.
you better not be slacking off at home still.

YO. Did you start learning Japanese last summer like you said you would? Did you learn more about how to make websites? Did you start making some videos/music? I hope you got a fucking job. If not, then fuck you, go search for it now. Not sure how you're surviving without a job too, that must be hard. [editline]1st January 2013[/editline] Also, where is the thread from last year? Can't seem to find it.
Hey me, get moar money or i'll time travel and punch you.
Yo. You'd better be in a decent University, and you'd also better be able to speak some Swedish by now. Enough to get by in that country. Also if you're still single I will slap you for being a sad bastard. From, Past Me
Well, future self, If you've spent more than three months of the year unbanned, good for you. If you haven't, or are currently serving a perma, fuck you, you are undeserving of my regards. Now that that's been cleared up, here's the list: 1: Get out from behind the screen and have some life and friends 2: There has to be at least one girl in college for you 3:You must be at at least season two of The Long War by now 4: Get laid, seriously
Dear me, How's your first year of college? I think it will be hard, but who knows. Are you still with her? I hope you are, because I will let you know, future me, that you are madly in love with her now. I hope you aren't still working at that shitty place, I bet you are gonna get a job you actually enjoy in the city near the university. Or maybe at the university; they have some pretty cool job opportunities. Love, me.
Hello self this is your first post on this website, I wonder how many you'll have right now reading this in a year if you continue posting here.
Right then, going to do what I did last year: reply to my message from 2012 before writing my 2013 message.
By January 2013 you will hopefully have been at university for 4 months, providing you got all the grades you need which will have been partly the responsibility of the January 2012 me, as I have exams this month. I know that most of them lie with the June 2012 me, but that's his problem. Anyway, from what I hear from other physics undergraduates, the first term of the first year course is easy as piss, so I'd like you to report back on the truthfulness of that. Also, how's the social side of university. I'd like to think it's something more than just going out and getting drunk all the time. I hope you've made some good friends wherever you are. Though I'd just like to take this opportunity to recite some names you may or may not have heard in a while: Callum, Robert, Ryan, Chris, Alice, Christian, Hazel, Chilli (although it's highly likely Chilli will have dropped off the face of the Earth by this point). Still though, if you haven't spoken to any of them in a while, go do so. Good news! You got into university. AABC wasn't bad going for A-level exams, but frankly, who cares? You're in the university you wanted to go to and have been for some months. Also, those people who told you semester 1 is easy were right on the money. Things are different at Scottish universities, and a lot of the course material in the first semester is stuff you covered at A-level anyway, so you're doing fine. As for the social life, I can safely say the you of 2012 would not expect the you of 2013 to be the kind of person you are now. Shit's changed since going to university, and definitely for the better. Oh, and here's something that will blow your scrawny, underage mind: you've started playing FIFA with your flatmates, so there you go. And what of these names? I'll have you know I'm still in touch with all of those people (except Christian and Chilli obviously, fuck knows where they are). And as a matter of fact, I saw them all just last night, so stop being such a pessimist. Onto other, non-university matters, are you employed? The January 2012 you works at WHSmith (and also a little job supervising a school computer room), and is looking into getting a transfer to another shop wherever you go to university. If that worked out, awesome. If it didn't and you don't have a job, it's probably high time you went out searching for one. It doesn't need to be a massive commitment, simply a way to earn some extra money to buy CDs, booze, and - oh yeah - FOOD. Maybe see about getting some apprentice-style work relevant to your physics degree course, but don't go nuts. No job this time round, but you agreed to start looking after semester 1 once you were settled in. You also recently found out that you could've got a temporary job at WHSmith over Christmas, but you were a little too late for that. Try again in Summer. Music. Ah, music. You're currently listening to The Varangian Way by Turisas, and you've got some awesome releases to look forward to in the coming year: Clockwork Angels by Rush, a new Steven Wilson album and (hopefully) a new Porcupine Tree album. Metallica should have a new album out by this point, as well as the newly-reformed Black Sabbath as well as The Stone Roses. I'd like to see a review of all relevant music releases, partly to see if your tastes have changed at all during 2012. Incidentally, one of the albums you've listed here was actually released in 2012 (that being Clockwork Angels). The Black Sabbath reunion fell apart, the new Steven Wilson album is coming out in February and everything else is so much vapour. There's also a bunch of awesome gigs coming up. I sincerely hope you get to Damnation Festival in 2012, and it would be awesome if you finally got to see Rush live. There's also Mastodon and Justice in February and - of course - DEVIN FUCKING TOWNSEND in October. Let me know how they all were. Damnation Festival never happened (well it did, you just didn't go due to it being too far away). But to make up for it, you went to Bloodstock instead, which was pretty awesome. You've got tickets for Rush in May 2013, which will no doubt arrive sooner than you think. As for all the other gigs, they were cool. Rock on. Although the Devin gig wasn't Retinal Circus as you were expecting (tickets sold out not long after new year 2012); you actually went to Newcastle to see a warm-up show with Ryan. It was still pretty rad, so not all is lost. There's a stack of books on your desk at the moment: A Game of Thrones and A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin, Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku, Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horowitz (you were finishing reading the Alex Rider series, for old times' sake more than anything else) and a Doctor Who biography. What are you reading at the moment? You don't read much any more. University work and the call of vidya has somewhat taken over from reading a lot, which is a damn shame. What else is happening in 2012? Oh yeah. Camp Facepunch. Let me know a) if you went and b) how it was. There's probably some other walking related events you should have done (such as the lyke wake walk), but based on where you go to university I'm not going to hold you to that. Oh and how was part 1 of The Hobbit? Camp Facepunch was of course fantastic (if a little warm), but unfortunately it doesn't look like there's going to be one this year. Oh well. There was also a trip to Holland with the friends mentioned above, which I don't think you had even started discussing on 1st January 2012. You went camping for about a week near Amsterdam, and it was an absolute blast. And yes, this time you DID smoke weed. Walking didn't happen much in 2012 due to scheduling clashes (and also that whole being at university thing from September onwards). You did actually go for another walk on new year's eve, though. You got rained on a lot. Hobbit Part 1 (it's now a trilogy btw) was also very good.
And now for this year's installment: Another year, another one of these Facepunch threads. As fun as they are, they won't be interesting until the year in which you can reply to the previous year's message with "I WISH I COULD HAVE WARNED YOU". However, since the world didn't end the other week in a media frenzy which essentially boiled down to "Hey! This calendar ends on 31st December 2013! THE WORLD IS GOING TO END THEN", it won't be this year. But more about you. Or me. Or whoever we're going to refer to ourselves as in this post. semester 1 of university is complete, and holy shit was it a walk in the park. Hopefully you'll be able to say the same about semester 1 of your second year (provided you haven't been killed or sectioned or something before then). Although really, what the fuck do I care? Whether or not you're doing well is none of my concern, that's a year away. So with that in mind, let's talk about something both of us will give a shit about: Chicks. Fortunately we've got none of this "ask her on a date yet?" or "try to find a girlfriend" or similar whiny bullshit. You may remember that being at university changed you with regards to relationships, or to put it bluntly: you're currently having lots of casual sex and fucking loving it. Make sure you don't change that, you magnificent bastard. Also, make sure you keep your bros close. Not just the ones I mentioned in 2012, we've got some more additions to the list: Cormac, Ben, Stan, Jonny, Jess, Emma, et. al. Chances are you're going to be living with these folks next year though, so you'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to forget them (especially if you're still banging one of them as you are at the moment. Not this very moment of course, that would make it rather hard to ttpypopoeww Ahem. Sorry about that. But you know what else we should give a fuck about? OUR INTERESTS. As always, you still have more music than sense (and occasionally food), and I honestly don't expect that to change and won't hold it against you at all if it doesn't. You're currently listening to Blackjazz by Shining (NOR), an absolute mindfuck of an album that I hope still holds its proud position on your limited university CD shelf, because it's fucking awesome. And I tell you what: I really do hope you've paid more attention to metal releases in 2013, as there's so much awesome stuff you missed out on in 2012. But enough about music, how about TV? Holy fucking TV. Basically you've been watching Doctor Who almost religiously of late, so I honestly don't know if there'll be any of it left to watch by the time you read this. Although the 50th anniversary special will have been on about a month ago, so lemme know what that was like. Oh yeah, and you finally bought and played Binding of Isaac today (£0.99 in Steam sale, can't go wrong with that). I wonder if you're still playing it? Gigs! Still an integral part of your hobbies, I hope. Let's see, what have you been to in 2013 that you already knew about when you wrote this? Well, we've got Steven Wilson coming up on 3rd March. There's also a couple of smaller bands (like Astra) in the spring and Bloodstock isn't looking to swell this year, so you'll probably have given that a miss. There is of course, that one. The big one. The one you've mentioned in these fucking time capsule posts for three years or some stupid amount of time like that: Rush. Yep, 30th May will be the day you finally get to see your favourite band, and if you fucking dare tell me it was anything short off ball-tingling, I will hunt you down. Which would probably be quite easy, but there you go. What else have we got this year? I honestly can't think of anything. No doubt you'll throw together some other similar Holland-like trip over the summer, so let me know what the rest of this extremely dorky-sounding year was like (because seriously, 2012 was like the year of opportunity, when so much cool shit was happening, but 2013? Who gives a fuck about 2013? See you next year, future knobhead. Past knobhead out. Oh yeah, 15,771 posts right now. Last year it was 15,633. Year before that it was 8,995. What the fuck were we doing in 2011?
Good God, WHY did you read all those Kyell Gold Novels over last Christmas break?
I hope your still in college and have muscles. Stay fresh bro, Sincerely 2013 You.

Get a job, and figure out what you're going to do after school, christ. Oh, and how was 2013?
Dear future Pill, find someone, past Pill~
i won't be able to see this shit because i dont have gold
Dear 2014-me, I hope you finally have the money for a trip to Canada together or already were there, cause that would be really awesome! If non of both: well that's just lame...so get a fucking sidejob and earn some money! Also, I hope you've finally read all those history books and high school is going on well. If you still have that one stupid teacher who doesn't seem to know a shit about nothing, don't worry. You can tell him how much of an idiot he is at the graduation party! And have you already been talking to that girl? If not, get your shit together already and don't act like it was the first time! And don't let anybody destroy or make fun of your future plans! You know you can and will do it, all the damn fools will jealous as hell! >:) Sincerely, me.
Play your guitar more you shitdick.
