Reality does have a liberal bias.

what do they sleep better or something

if they're with me probably yeah
big fuckin' deal that not everyone gets a boner over politics like you do.
also, you seriously think that all women are right wing and spiteful shitheads because of a few students in your class? way to generalize
you sound like a condensing prick throughout the entire post with bullshit like "all women are vapid right wing bitches because of a few dicks in my classes" and "women aren't completely dedicated to politics like i am". stop being such a smug little prick that thinks he's smarter than and knows best for everyone. just let people life how they want to live instead of making whiny comments on facepunch about how you think they're so stupid because they aren't interested in what you like.
Should probably chill out with the rage and read the disclaimer.

To be fair, you can't really blame them...
I have a female friend that is very politically active.
The others, however, are not.
OP is wrong on both counts. Women are more likely to vote than men, and a bigger proportion of them vote for liberal candidates.

Thanks for the information. I did acknowledge, however, that my observations may be entirely relative only to my specific location, sample and situation. To this end, a study based on US census information isn't entirely useful to me (census information is highly questionable as it is).
I'm not "wrong", I'm just inaccurate - it's observations of a small and clearly inaccurate sample.

Your data collection method doesn't have any kind of process or rigor so it's almost certainly influenced by bias and prejudice. Even if it werent, the sample size is so small that you can't reasonably expect to draw any kind of meaningful conclusion from it (which is certainly implied by the title and tone of the post)
I don't really agree with the fact you're using the word "most" while also admitting that that's the wrong word to use.
I know a girl who is very far left who is a vegan, feminist, for gay rights, and anti-racist.
I know another girl who is far right who is on the opposite side of all of these things.
I live in a pretty mixed community where neither of these things are really the norm. During the last presidential election one neighborhood had mostly McCain signs and was dotted with Obama signs. Then you go to the other side and you find the opposite.
I have friends on both sides. Both atheists and hardcore Christians. It doesn't really matter to me that people actually have other political views.

Actually my cousin is left-centrist (he doesn't particularly care who wins as long as weed is legalised)

I love it when someone makes an OP trying their best not to offend anyone, and then later in the thread, someone discredits OP in a polite, quite way, and then someone comes along and says the same thing that was said quietly, except in a raging, obnoxious way. Makes my day, man

it's more fun and exciting calling them on their bullshit in a dickish way than trying to be mister polite guy.
Honestly, In my high school, almost nobody male or female has any sort of political views in any of my classes. It makes me feel bad that because they don't take the time to form their ideas now, than they might get caught up in joining a political group or movement when they're older without thinking about it. It scares me about the future of my country.
In New Zealand I'm pretty sure even our Prime Minister doesn't think about politics.
ITT: We all are suddenly very acquainted with women.
Nearly every girl in my class does not know anything about Politics, nor do they care.
Hell they don't know shit about what goes on around them but their latest facebook status.
I think I'm the only one who strikes up a conversation with my English teacher since I find Politics, Space or what's in the news interesting. It's so hard to talk to my girlfriends about more important stuff because they don't know shit.
e.g
Me: Gaddafi has been pretty heavy handed with er 'his' people, and it has been for over 40 years now, blah blah blah.
Friend: Who? My mum's 40.
TL;DR: I have observed that most girls don't seem to have any conscious political ideology.
Hi OP, you're a fucking idiot. Or maybe just a naive idiot.
In any case, the reason you can't find many politically minded women is
A) Why would they associate with you?
and
B) You are still in secondary school
Honestly, what do you expect from those people?
Wait until you get to university, and then politically minded women will be tearing you a new one, for your insane misogynistic thought.
Insults aside, you are correct that socialization processes probably reduce the amount of politically active women.
this is coming from a girl who has studied sociology for almost 2 years.
The wonders of ROTE learning!
OP, I think you're mistaking stupidity exclusive to a gender for general stupidity.
Of all the things you mentioned - most people, or least a significant amount, think things like that.
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
And yes, it is a bit of a damning indictment on democracy, but what are you gonna do?
I'm a guy, and I don't really care too much about politics. I guess I'm somewhat left-leaning, though.
I don't know many women who are politically minded, ones my age anyways, I can definitely have a discussion with a teacher at my school about Communism/China and get along fine, but most would be like "Lol y u takin bout cats lol"
Where did you draw that socialization was the cause (oh and you spelled socialization wrong in your bolded statement at the bottom). Political views are typically passed down from generation to generation. So if that's what "socialization" is to you, then I guess you are right.
But targeting this specific cohort proves to be just an observable phenomena for people you have encountered, and not a widespread truth.

That's what the peace sign was there for. To give him the overall blanket of peace, and setting the mindset that a vote for him was a vote for peace. I guess you can say she was stupid, but she was just buying into the message that was being sent.
In Germany, right winged mindsets are accepted mostly in lower class groups, especially the "Chavs".
The OP knows a real women? Thread is fake... I kid I kid
Most women i know are too busy making sandwiches in the kitchen to get involved in politics, they just arent that interested in it
The majority that you know are, and so you go ahead and classify all women (which was heavily implied in your thread title) only to say "I'm not saying all girls are" in some vague attempt to make yourself seem fair. Your argument felt weak, something that had about as much thought and consideration put into as a person sticking their dick into a pencil sharpener.
And you say that women have no conscious choice in what they decide? Fuck, I'm sorry, but societal dynamics will not run that deep with intelligent women. Have you thought for a second that they truly believe what they're saying? Did you know the majority of people (that's men and women) vote for who they vote because they always have? How about this, instead of bitching on the internet, you try to debate your point across to them.
And your view, specific to only a small minority and applying it to a greater amount, is not a view. It's ignorance. Sweet, delicious, candy-filled ignorance with a serving of hot steaming bullshit on the side!
What annoys me most is your pretentious tone more than anything. Go away.

I consider myself left leaning and politically aware, however in my girls school there were a lot of girls who just didn't care about anything beyond their own little bubble and were very ignorant. Not all of us, but there certainly were girls like that. I don't thinkf that is gender specific though as I wasn't in a class with guys so I didn't see how they responded to such stuff. My assumption is that there's just ignorant people out there in general.

At the age of 16-18 that IS high school. It's just the senior part of a high school.
As a female, and in university, I don't think about politics much.
But I tend to not watch the news, or talk to any one at my university.
And why did someone bring up abortions?
Which should be legal.

But alas, that also goes for most guys my age.

As Hana-San said, sixth form is part of one's (optional, in your country) secondary education.
I don't think about politics much.

Australia is an interesting example, because most people are entirely apolitical.

What course are you in Hana-san?
