But i need to know if they are Satanist or not, so i make sure i only Disturb non satanists on neutral ground so i don't get destroyed. :downs:
Are you daft? By your logic only Satanists will use self defence if you try to get under their skin. Go piss off any random person on the street and see what happens.

Disturbing in a non harmful way and disturbing in a harmful way are two different things. Stop trolling.
Satanist represent (although I do not acknowledge the 'magic'). We had our own custom forum going strong back in the day. Now all we have is a dead thread on the religious board no one visits.
I know, it's just how it's phrased.
Yeah, the phrasing is kinda hilariously tryhard badass

I'm not trolling, it never specified. Serious question: how long do you have to be a member before you learn magic?
7. Confess the power of magic if you have used it to gain something you craved for. If you deny the power of magic when you have succesfully called it, you will lose everything you have gained.
I'm not sure if I intepret this the right way. The magic mentioned is more of a psychological reaction. For example; you're piss angry at someone. Making an image of said person and then mercilessly beat it might vent your anger thus making you feel better.
There are lesser magic and greater magic. Although I can't remember what they're both about. Was two years since the last time I read the book.

Do christians get to see god when they've been a part of the church long enough? You don't learn anything, you just learn to believe in it.
Do christians get to see god when they've been a part of the church long enough? You don't learn anything, you just learn to believe in it.
No they don't get to see God because it's not true, so that doesn't say much about believing in "magic".
Kazumi's answer is more likely right about what it is trying to say, as his reply seems to be more intelligent. In the end, just like the bible (or any other religious book) it's all up for interpretation to make it say what you want it to say.
Satanism seems like an immature religion to me. It's kinda like the whole thing is just one big stab at christianity. Given, I agree with most of what's in their statements. However, those things were simple common sense before someone decided to make a religion out of them. There's really no need to associate it with Satan, or any sort of religion.

Satanists have supernatural experiences through rituals of Higher Magic. With this technique you can affect the outcome of people actions in a desired way by achieving and extreme emotional state and sending forward a vision of what you want to happen. If your adrenaline level is high enough, this vision penetrates the subconciousness of the people you wanted to affect and at the desired moment they act like you wanted them to.
Lower magic is based on manipulating people you see every day to do what you want.
Ok...
Magic is the belief in yourself, it's more or less a fancy mystical way of saying that you believe and trust in yourself. All Satanism is, is a system of self empowerment, self reliance, and almost hedonistic belief. You hold "Satan" to be an all powerful ideal, that you are trying to become. You do not believe in any gods, and it is an entirely atheistic belief system. All it says is to empower yourself.
satanism terrifies me and I have chronic nightmares about it.
Too many people aren't bothering to read the original post.
OP, good work!
There are different forms of satanism, there are some that involve stupidity/blind faith as in belief in an actual satan as a deity or being.
LaVeyan and non-theistic tend to make the most sense to me so that is what I identify myself as, I just incorporate anything I feel fits with my "beliefs".
A lot of Satanic ideas are build on things originally suggested by Nietzsche.

Do a vision on me (If you actually believe in the magic part of it)

This seems more logical.

What kind of Satanism terrifies you?
For refrence, Levayan Satanism is the only form that is currently relevant. It is an atheistic, self empowerment philosophy. No magic, no gods, nothing supernatural is relevant at all. It entirely relies on self love, and self empowerment. Please, for the love of fuck, stop acting like it has anything to do with Satan, religion, or anything. It is entirely about self strength. Nothing else.
It is supposed to fascinate people, that's why people join. You shouldn't get involved with that kind of this though, it might not be true but still it's unhealthy.
Learning to be self reliant and independent is unhealthy? Someone needs to learn how to read.
It also does not require, or even want you to be cruel, evil, mean, or any sort of spiteful unless that's what you need to do to become strong. Undeserved hate, and undeserved action is looked down upon inside real Levayen Satanism and as such, is held to be against the ideal. Self empowerment is key, and part of that is being Just and right. Not being cruel and unusual.

QFT.
Wish people would actually read the OP instead of going off on one about their preconceptions and joining the "hurf a durf it involves satan it must be bad/evil/child raping" train
Hullu, take down the OP, or add actual info to it. Just take my quotes and some of JustExtremes because you failed to give a real impression of what Satanism is about.

The impression you two have given it is it's just a fancy name for atheism. Not that that's a bad thing.

More or less. It adds a lot of other stuff into it, and I don't believe satanism needs to exist because it's essentially a fancy way of saying "Atheism, Hedonism, self empowerment" in one word and conjuring up tons of imagery about evil. That's the part that LeVay thought would be good for it because it adds fear and mysticism towards the whole thing, a supposedly good thing, but it adds a really almost, turn off for most people.

Satan is relevant in Laveyan Satanism and so is magic. To some point atleast.
But yes, you are right, it's mostly about self strenght.

So Satan and magic are relevant to a religion which is completely atheist and has nothing to do Satan or magic (Apparently?) It's a pretty stupid name anyway, i agree with HumanAbyss that the name doesn't really need to exist.
Reading this has actually made me think about it for once. Most Christians think anything to do with Satan is evil and all that stuff, but it doesn't seem like that.
the word fascinating in the title made me believe this thread was about theistic satanism but i was sorely disappointed.

It's not completely atheist. It does, yes, rely greatly on atheism, but satan and magic are a part of LaVeyan Satanism. If they wouldn't be, they wouldn't have been introduced by LaVey in the first place.
What kind of Satanism terrifies you?
all of it. but I wouldn't consider that 'LeVeyan' thing as Satanism.
It's just the belief in God yet worshipping/idolizing Satan that sends shivers down my spine.
Satanism, satanism, wherefore art thou satanism? A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.
