Moving house today. I seem to be going backwards. From a nice house in a good neighbourhood, to an alright house in a bad one.
What neighbourhood?
Franggaaaaa
Possums are fucking loud. They fight in the tree outside my room. And in Spring, the horny bastards constantly scream for a female.
Cats are worse, my Aunt used to breed them.
so bored. what to do.
Stare at your avatar all night. Came back from friend's 18th, only one more friend left to turn 18. I feel old.
just wait until you die. i promise you will feel old then [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/death-car-driver-spat-at-paramedics/2107177.aspx fucking disgusting. this makes my blood boil [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] and then the girlfriends mum trying to blame it on the police.
Are breathalysers in cars expensive? They should just be a mandatory thing for people driving past like 10pm. It only takes like 10 seconds to do.
It's like $600 to install into a car i think
Are breathalysers in cars expensive? They should just be a mandatory thing for people driving past like 10pm. It only takes like 10 seconds to do.
Surely they'd be easy to circumvent, though? [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] Store up an 'air' bank of normal exhaled air, make sure it's the same temp?
Are breathalysers in cars expensive? They should just be a mandatory thing for people driving past like 10pm. It only takes like 10 seconds to do.
too unreliable. better have a higher police presence.
The 'road toll' is so utterly insignificant it doesn't matter.
The 'road toll' is so utterly insignificant it doesn't matter.
we can reduce it lower. ive been unlucky enough to see the direct affects of speeding (i think). not pretty. speeding is more of a problem than drink / drug driving
we can reduce it lower. ive been unlucky enough to see the direct affects of speeding (i think). not pretty. speeding is more of a problem than drink / drug driving
You know increasing the speed limit in selected areas is more likely to reduce accidents than reducing it, right?
You know increasing the speed limit in selected areas is more likely to reduce accidents than reducing it, right?
i didn't say anything about reducing the speed limit. but in general, only certain areas would benefit (in safety) from an increase in speed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limit#Effectiveness
Apparently (in the SMH so you never know) the (NSW) government plans to remove the leeway they give for speeding. Revenue raising ftw
i didn't say anything about reducing the speed limit. but in general, only certain areas would benefit (in safety) from an increase in speed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limit#Effectiveness
Ah, I saw 'reduce it' and 'speeding' right next to each other (vertically). Yeah, I know, which is why I included the 'selected' in the sentences.
Ah, I saw 'reduce it' and 'speeding' right next to each other (vertically). Yeah, I know, which is why I included the 'selected' in the sentences.
of course, if we limited the speed limit to 40KM/h, think of how many lives we'll save.
of course, if we limited the speed limit to 40KM/h, think of how many lives we'll save.
At the same time, it might be criminogenic in that, if people find only 40km/h unreasonable, then they are more likely to speed, more often, when the stakes are higher. Obviously it's an immensely complex issue, otherwise it wouldn't be an issue at all. Pay me $100k+ and I'll decide on the issue. As an aside, did you know that district attorneys (if you've ever watched a police drama/investigative type show, or a legal type show you'd know that it's a rather prestigious elected position) only get paid an average of $75,000? And that this is considered a great deal of money?
Apparently (in the SMH so you never know) the (NSW) government plans to remove the leeway they give for speeding. Revenue raising ftw
Man I'm so jealous of NSW just for that reason alone. Getting a fine for going like 112km/h in vic is shit.
Apparently (in the SMH so you never know) the (NSW) government plans to remove the leeway they give for speeding. Revenue raising ftw
what's the leeway? Whenever I've been in nsw, i've noticed you get 3 warning signs if there is a fixed/bus lane speed camera ahead I always thought that was pretty cool. Melbourne raises more revenue than all the other states iirc, they are a fucking pack of cunts
At the same time, it might be criminogenic in that, if people find only 40km/h unreasonable, then they are more likely to speed, more often, when the stakes are higher.
duh, was obviously kidding
Obviously it's an immensely complex issue, otherwise it wouldn't be an issue at all. Pay me $100k+ and I'll decide on the issue.
and a stab, i like it. [editline]26th March 2011[/editline]
what's the leeway?
3km/h in nsw overall same as our 3km/h for mobile speed cameras and radars
afaik the leeway in a couple of states used to be 10% of the speed limit
