as for travel, it's basically as close to domestic travel as possible. you can go there, live there, purchase land and properly, work there, all without hardly any administrative extras for being aussie. same goes for kiwis here.
the only barrier is customs, which is understandable.

Not exactly sure at the moment. I think we'll be away for about ten days, but most of that time will probably be in Lismore. I know I'll get some time in the Gold Coast, but I just don't know when at the moment.

There is no way in hell that the snow in NZ is in any way worse than Australia... except for cross country skiing, perhaps, but I don't do that so I don't know. Japan one-ups them both, at least in my experience.

from talking to experienced peeps, apparently it's even more unreliable than our ski season.
australia, nz, argentina - mid year skiing
japan - off piste skiing
america, canada, europe - huge mountain skiiiiiiiinnggg
