ITT: Dorks rage because people don't know as much as them. (see teh pirate) Give me a break guys, are you really this socially inept? Just because someone doesn't know as much as you do doesn't mean you call them an idiot. Jesus Christ, how many of you have friends here?
Oh the irony! You calling everyone socially inept is the exact same kind of judging and elitism as the thing you're arguing against. Further more, the majority of people in this thread are disagreeing with what you think is the OP's statement.
Wait, so I can't play xbox games on a windows? Damn, what do I do with the games I just bought now? I don't even have an xbox :frown:
Fuck yeah CLI for life!
i hate like in windows 7 they simplified shit to the point where it's more difficult and frustrating to do the more advanced shit.
i hate like in windows 7 they simplified shit to the point where it's more difficult and frustrating to do the more advanced shit.
Like what.
Human intelligence has actually been going up, you know. And simplifying interfaces isn't a bad thing. You're saying how we're getting rid of words and replacing them with icons. Well, that's symbolistic, abstract thinking, which is what us human beings are particularly good at. [editline]11:08PM[/editline]
Auto correcting on word processors and search engines has stopped a lot of people from learning how to spell because they can spell a word wrong continuously and never actually realize. So when they write with something without an autocorrect or spell checker (not as bad because you see the mistake), their spelling is terrible. It's like if you had always used one of these to walk: Then if it gets taken away, you wouldn't be able to walk but if you had always been walking without it, you wouldn't need to rely on it. Although simplified interfaces are good because you can get things done quicker, it does cut out knowledge and experience that you would've gained if you had to do something more manually and this is a bad thing.
This is actually a pretty good opinion, because as opposed to a couple of generations ago where we learned by swimming through a wealth of (otherwise superficial) information in order to get what we want, sucking it up like sponges, we try to make things faster and more honed, thus losing our knowledgable breadth. It exercised our critical thinking. Well, I guess just as we leave plumbing to plumbers we now leave computer maintenance to IT guys.
That's the reason why non-tech savvy people always bash GNU/Linux distros... "They're so hard to understand, unlike Windows"... I agree with OP.
i think windozes r harder to use as macs!!!1
(MS-DOS image) amirite
Not necessarily, most people only used MS-DOS at work, because: 1) Most of the computer software available at that time was business oriented. 2) Computers cost over $1,000 for a 386 at that time.
I don't know OP.. Humans are pretty superior creatures when compared to anything else we know of. I mean, what if humans were meant to stay how they truly were, end conflicts with fists (and not these ridiculous long-range fucking making-a-capital-city a ruin with 1 bomb), eat food so you won't die, and just do dumb stuff? Would't you call that an ideal life?
I can't help but be reminded about this by this thread.
Most humans have always been extremely dumb when it comes to any form of technology. It have always been like this.
Most humans have always been extremely dumb when it comes to any form of technology. It have always been like this.
But the literacy rate has been going up, so I'm sure we're pretty pro with our pencil skills. And how many of us can build tables, nowadays? Or do electrical work? Or can build engines from scratch? We're focusing our technological knowledge on the computer while forgetting about other forms of more 'rudimentary' but nevertheless important of technology.
I've always wondered what it was like back in the day when you ran all your machines from command lines. Were people smarter?
No, just less people used computers. A simple interface is good, it's conveniant, exactly how it's supposed to be. You shouldn't need to know how a computer runs to be able to use it thats the whole reason it exists. Computer's evolved from machines created to do stuff so we don't have to like sewing mahines, calculators etc. If technology keeps evolving then one day it will be impossible for one human being to understand it all, this is when artificial inteligence will be born. Actually I'm pretty sure binary code was first used in a sewing machine, technically the first omputer ever made
Take this seriously.
I stopped reading at that. On the other hand, I completely agree; This also applies to software development, look what .NET has done to a whole generation of misinformed software developers that never learned how their programs actually work in the background, they never learned how to use pointers, and have no idea how the processor/memory of the PC they're coding on works. In 10-15 years no one will be able to develop new operating systems on their own any longer; that knowledge will probably be buried with this generation soon™; and Microsoft and Apple will rule the universe of computing. Oh well, welcome to the 21st century.
Complex GUIs are awesome. They child-proof shit. Edit: Even I pity the fool who has to work with this.
Edit: Even I pity the fool who has to work with this.
jesus christ what the hell is that? are those fucking light switches? oh god :barf: but more seriously. I don't find that OP's problems with simplification are bad. I for one am embracing the day I can get a neural implant augmenting my intelligence, becoming a bad ass cyborg. (guys chill it this is the future, one where its not too hard to be smart)
jesus christ what the hell is that? are those fucking light switches? oh god :barf:
They are indeed rocker switches. You can't get more binary than that, byatch!
I think OP is just angry at myspace, twitter, and youtube for being shitty sites that people he doesn't like go to.
someone was complaining to me that the xbox is better because windows doesnt have good enough graphics. i tried explaining to him that microsoft doesn't make computers and he only went on a rant about how microsoft uses crappy companies whose hardware doesnt go together like ati, amd, intel, nvidia, etc. and how apple doesn't do that. i asked him what his favorite game was and he said modern warfare 2. go figure
Thread reminded me of:
"And the computer is virtually unbreakable unless dropped or hit." NO SHIT.
The funny thing is that people on Youtube are actually thinking that this is real :v:
If they fell for that they probably would of fallen for this too.
