The Crown Victoria feels seriously damn stable and planted at 120, and it's certainly not AWD. It is DBW, though.
oh definitely. I hit 132 once on bumpy 2 lane black top, and aside from the extra loud engine and road noise, it felt just as solid as 75mph. Certainly wasnt that way before I replaced my worn tie rod ends, that thing wobbled pretty bad over 100mph back then.
I think anything that isn't AWD and fly-by-wire is at least a little terrifying at 110+ I'll say that 150 feels like a Sunday cruise in my dad's fuckin BMW 550i though.
My truck is a little terrifying at 130 but thats mainly because you have soo much tire there to flex before it thinks about turning. Bigger wheels would make this better. My audi avant felt perfect going 129 every time I did it. But it weighted more than my truck :v: Also in boat news. Lower end off. And I was kinda afraid of it but it was easy peasy. Fuck that so much. I squeezed the shit out of that container of lube and got #MoneyShot'd. Marine lube is hard to get off :( [editline]sorry massive pics[/editline]sorry massive pics
Talon timing got redone today.. what a PITA. Those 420a engines just want to fight and fight and fight. It seems to be on now, but I can't really idle it since there's no radiator in, or exhaust. I idled it for about 10 seconds, said "Sounds pretty good" and buttoned it mostly back up. The dumb part it it's quieter dumping straight out the head that with the OEM+rice cannon on. Weird. Stuck on the new exhaust manifold, stuffed in a new motor mount, and when I got to the transmission mount I realized the schmoes on Ebay sent me mounts fora 4G63 turbo engine Talon. Oh well. Oreilly's will have the new trans mount in on Thurs. On that same note, with only one new mount in it was already feeling way, way tighter in the engine bay. THEN the trouble started. My friend's Wrangler threw a serp belt about 15 minutes away. I just squeaked into Oreilly's before they closed and got to his Jeep.. surprise, seized idler pulley. So we took it home and did some "stuff" to try to make it work. It involved washers, grease, a metal sleeve.. all sorts of stupid ish. In the end we limped it 5 minutes to a Denny's that he used to work at for it to sit for the night until we can get a new idler tomorrow. Sweet.

Got a new prop, new gear cable, and a starter solenoid in the mail. With some luck, it'll be on the water by the end of the week. Or I could have a submarine by the end of the week, we'll see.
I started looking into kayak's. Omg they look like so much more fun compared to a giant ass gas guzzling bass boat.
So I got court tomorrow because I forgot to pay my ticket :v: I swear I thought it said 5-11 and when I went to go pay it on 5-18, I freaked out, paid it and now I gotta go to court tomorrow for Failing to appear, what should I expect? Should I just be honest about it and truthfully say I forgot?

I missed a ticket deadline once and it was just a $20 late fee and $50 filing fee. sucks, but not the end of the world. to be honest the state would rather you miss the deadline. more money for them.
You actually have to appear? In Ohio when I forgot to pay they suspended my license (missed the payment by months, completely forgot about the ticket) so it was just an extra $35 to reactivate it.

I'd be honest with them if it was me, because I'm guessing they'll just slap a penalty for late payment. they'd be happier you appear then to purposely skip paying the ticket at all, so you'll be fine.

Gr I've been having an annoying problem with the Corolla for a while now, and either I'm paranoid or it's been progressing slightly. About 2 minutes or so into a trip after it's been sitting a while, and especially when it's colder out (50* or below-ish) it'll hesitate when I go to accelerate. I'll give it gas and it'll just kind of.. wait... almost like a rev limiter feeling. It'll be like that for a couple seconds, then it'll find it's footing and carry on and work fine after that. Today it did it and it was more of a bog than a hesitation, straight up thought the engine would die for a moment, really caught my attention. Once again, feathered the pedal for a few seconds, it figured things out, then off I went. Super weird. The thing doesn't throw any relevant codes, just O2 sensor heater circuit and EVAP leaks. It's got new plugs and wires. The only other symptom I'd say is that a year ago I could sneak 350 miles out of a tank in the summer and now I'm doing something like 300 miles, and maaaaybe it feels a little down on power, but that could be imagination. Wish I had a scan tool that did live data.. I wanna know what my fuel trims are.
a rock broke my dad's BMW's windshield this morning $862 remind me never to own a BMW
Maybe a Miata history guy can tell me about this. Yesterday I rotated my tires for the first time on the Miata since I bought it, and when looking at the inside spokes of the wheels I saw an Enkei imprint. Did Enkei produce OEM Miata rims? Picture of wheels: [IMG_THUMB]https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/10403296_1036961239651703_3745552248086283565_n.jpg?oh=bd5a009ef8b0f126d043444499de6fe8&oe=57CDD77D[/IMG_THUMB] I thought they were OEM NB rims?
enkei makes damn near every oem japanese wheel ever

A lot of manufacturers outsource alloy wheels to higher end wheel manufacturers. I've seen Subaru wheels with some aftermarket brand's logo, but i never figured out the brand.
Anyone wanna take a guess at what this is? [t]http://i.imgur.com/D88PpS4.jpg[/t] [sp]Clutch for the mower blades on my Husqy CT130 riding mower[/sp] Top bearing split and shot its balls all over, the whole thing came apart when we took the shaft nut off. There's also this bearing, which seemed to be missing some balls, but it actually stayed together until I got it home. [t]http://i.imgur.com/L2AXJFR.jpg[/t] I also stopped by some friends to chat on my way home, and the outer/lower driveshaft fell out when I stopped the engine. Just shut the ignition off, engine stumbled to a stop as usual, and "ping", out goes the shaft. Turns out we'd forgotten to put on the center bolt that held the shaft on the crankshaft. On the bright side, I now know how the belt-drive system works, and I know that one of the pulleys is about to shit itself.

I know it shouldn't be DOT 4/5, even though they technically could work. I figure ATE or Motul. I also see Redline makes one, but it's DOT 4. And yes, I want trackday-proof fluid.

When your PO bondos your undented cowl panel for no reason at all
When your PO bondos your undented cowl panel for no reason at all
Even though it shouldn't have any dents in it, it might have some imperfections which would be really visible with the reflection of the paint, so that's probably why they bondo'd it.
enkei makes damn near every oem japanese wheel ever
They make pretty much all of the OEM wheels worth using, the HX wheels on my Civic are from the high efficiency HX 96-00 Civic and weigh like 14.3lbs while they also made the VX 13" wheels which were stupid stupid light like 12.3lbs. The wheels on my Integra weigh like 21-23lbs or something silly each and I don't think they were made by Enkei.
Even though it shouldn't have any dents in it, it might have some imperfections which would be really visible with the reflection of the paint, so that's probably why they bondo'd it.
Actually it was to correct the seam with the hood because the adjuster was set wrong
i drove for the first time today and it was a lot harder than i expected
a rock broke my dad's BMW's windshield this morning $862 remind me never to own a BMW
i blame you at some point during my 5 hour drive today, i got a 10 inch crack in my windshield
And yes, I want trackday-proof fluid.
Clean, newish fluid properly bled is trackday proof. You don't need Motul blue or some shit for occasional use, just make sure the car is sorted.
Hate the moment when the service engine light goes off when its been on for the vehicles entire life... I have a felling its gonna fall apart now. [editline]penis[/editline] Nevermind towing a boat ~300 miles turned it back on.
Starting to put some bits of work into getting my car up to scratch, it's a nice feeling taking better care of it and dealing with the little things where I can need to get it serviced soon and need to get those electronics checked out, they've been doing some funny things other than the battery drain, the other day I was sitting at lights and the brake/oil lights just started flickering (not in any consistant pattern, just going off and on at random for a second or two) as soon as I started driving again they went off, hasn't happened since... but it's a bit odd. also the lighter port needs to be fixed, might just be disconnected but it's probably just buggered need money for that though so for now i'm just doing whatever work I can put in, things like cosmetic upkeep and all that, just realized today i've been driving on pretty under-inflated tires, specifically the front two (they were sitting at 20psi when I went to pump them up), so now i'm getting to know more about tires and tire maintenance and all that, getting to know my car, and cars in general better is pretty sweet, definitely a good feeling

anyone wanna see my photography of cars? Feedback is appreciated :D https://flic.kr/s/aHskBzuZYm https://flic.kr/s/aHskB2g9g8 https://flic.kr/s/aHskyNzwKV
