I discovered today that Ive got a rusty front sway bar link so my steering binds up when turning, so I went an a 70 mile bike ride to buy a fishing bow from an iowegian on craigslist.
Aggressively and with little attention to what's oncoming seems to be the status quo here.

And PILLS, although my point was meant to be humorous it still stands. Don't be embarrassed to take less than ideal routes for the time being to avoid difficult situations while you learn the road.
my instructor made me take a ton of right turns and i was did them successfully 45-50% of the time
next session we're going onto the freeway as well as work on stuff like backing up, maneuvering through parking lots, more low-speed stuff, and learning how to work the right turn stuff
I haven't posted here in years, god, came back on here, first thing to do was to see if this thread was still alive.
For those whom remember me back then, my car's got a loooong way from what it was. Free'd up a good bunch of money for it this year.

shit I wish we had instructors in my state, had to learn all that on my own. screwed up soooo much on my own, but got the hang of it eventually. I'm sure you'll get better at driving over time, just don't be nervous and you're set.

having an instructor is mandatory in my state
i'm so nervous behind the wheel, to the point where i'm gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. i've only got about four hours behind the wheel so that might be a big reason
i have to learn how to drive well enough to pass the driving test by september otherwise i have to redo the entire process again
Hi Wolvez, it feels like you've only been gone for a couple months. How long's it been?!
The headers look pretty :)

Were you even there?
Were you even there?
No. Would have been if I'd known about it. I saw lots of older cars on 360 on the way home from work so I assumed there was some sort of car show going on.
day 9: called wal mart again
asked for automotive, got transferred to photo lab
photo lab transferred me to automotive, automotive said i'd have to talk to ".com" since i ordered the tires from the website and he'd transfer me to them
"photo lab how can i help"
i didnt even know wal mart had a photo lab but i got real familiar with them. they transferred me back to automotive. then he transferred me successfully to ".com"
so that got straightened out and in the end they decided to put a note on my 3 tires to hold them until the 4th arrived. they still do not know where the 4th one is.
i am in contact with the premier reliant dealership in texas.
Told you man, fuckn Walmart

I got really excited for a second because I'm going to grande prairie* on monday!
(*In Alberta...)
I went to test drive a 2016 Golf TSI yesterday and definitely liked the car, got some pricing, ect. Though I mentioned to the sales guy that I was drooling over the GTI, but they were way too expensive new. He agreed, and pointed out that they had a fully loaded 2015 GTI outside, the sticker saying $37500. Then he said that he could probably get it down to $30k with 0% financing. That would be pretty fucking nice.
Unfortunately, it turned out it was already sold. Got my hopes up, man.
It's looking pretty close between the Golf and the Mazda3 Sport GT at the moment. I still need to do a longer test drive of the Mazda on our shit roads and see how it does.
So I'm interested in picking up welding, after reading some it seems like MIG welding would be the most cost-effective and easiest way to get in.
What kind of budget should I be thinking of, when buying (second hand?) gear to get started? Any particular brands I need to look (out) for? Any tips are welcome either way!
Get cheap stuff and a bunch of pipes and start practicing a bit, after a while you'll find it's actually really easy.
Learned welding on the fly. The very first time, it took me 2 hours to weld a rear muffler shut with some cheap equipment. Doesn't look very nice but it does the job and if you're not satisfied, you can grind it down to make it look smooth anyway.

I don't remember posting here since ever I moved into the new house , so maybe around 10 months or so? Or more !
Been a while.
Well I haven't posted here in like a month, maybe two?
Paint is peeling off the Dart in a rapid pace, but that's ok, because the new Turbo Slant V2 is nearing ready to drop in, and paint will be ordered this week, once i finally decide on how i want to paint it. I spent a long while doing trips now that the boat project is done, and got delivered to Lake Tahoe, then took my Fiancee' to Monterey while the grandparents watched the three kids. Pretty fun. We stayed in the nicest hotel we could find, charged a bunch of stuff to service, and in the morning they gave us free mimosas and a full breakfast. Racked up a huge bill. No ragrets.
How much do you suppose i decreased the value of this ctsv and/or ticked off its owner by double parking next to its double parking spot?

You better be making a build log off that Slant.
Might be selling my Subaru and getting a newer one.
Just getting too much rust to be worth fixing again.
Runs perfect, I see another 100k miles left in the drivetrain.
Found an '04 WRX Wagon I like a lot.
Rebuilt title, automatic, 109k miles.
JDM front clip, Meghan coilovers.
$2900
Also spotted an '02 Impreza TS Wagon
174k miles, manual, nothing too fancy for $1900. Needs timing belt job.
Both have no rust at all. WRX books for $8k and is a steal.

:( 2,500$ were art tho

All the WRXs I see have rebuilt titles too. But never at that price. The lowest I've seen is ~$4k
took an angle grinder cutoff wheel to the foot today, that shit is sore. good inch long gash half an inch deep
moral of the story is don't use an angle grinder while wearing flip flops

good stuff
[editline]17th June 2016[/editline]
thankfully the disc did not touch my $30 flip flops
Well then, the Mazda 3 GT was a disappointment. The road noise was as bad as my Cavalier, I couldn't feel the acceleration as much I was hoping despite having the bigger 2.5L engine and the navigation felt a bit... lame?
Shit, it looks like I might be buying a Golf.
I never got paying 30k for a new bottom of the line car when you can pay 20k for a used top of the line older car. Like a boring ass Golf GT for 30k, or a mint 05 STI for 20k
Need new tires on my car, one blew out, driving on spare, decided to get some off ebay (Main brand) and ran across these Nittos
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-NEW-205-50-15-NITTO-NT-05-50R-R15-TIRES-/360886679131?hash=item540685b65b:g:PasAAOSwzJ5XYBGj&vxp=mtr
Are these even real Nittos? How come they are dirt fucking cheap for nittos? Should I buy these for my 1993 camry?
Here's a pic of the aftermath of being T-Boned. Doesn't look too bad.

We've already fixed everything : rear shock-absorber, crossmember, x-brace and the power-axle? or whatever it's called.
ANYWAY, we're up to some big changes for the next testing day in 2 weeks. Changes are
-Front E46 M3 brake disks+claws to the rear of our car
-New rear diff, 3.91 ratio. (Which I picked up for only 90 euro's lol)
-Double fuel pumps + fuel catch tank for long hard corners so I don't run dry
-Install a Sabelt fire-supressing system, interior + engine space
-Carbon Airbox (Engine isn't getting enough air at 8000+ revs) hoping we can find one in 2 weeks for a decent price
-Cut out the wheel wells to drop the car further.
-Install a fucking roof scoop because it gets insanely hot in the car during races (About 50 degrees celcius or about 122°F for you americans)
So yeah, lots and lots to do. I've also started experimenting with polyester. I'm planning on building a complete GTR kit :v:

[sp]Hopes 'n dreams people, hopes and dreams[/sp]
I'm usually not too keen on tuned/modded E36s, but that GTR kit looks dope as hell. Those plans you have are looking neat! Good luck and be sure to take pictures :v:
Been calling, texting, etc. The WRX guy, can't get a reply.
If anyone is in Virginia and wants to see if hes sinply not replying due to me being in another state, heres the ad;

Really want it over my other choices.

The reason it looks good is because it's made by BMW, they are not talked about much, but there's only about 5 official GTR's made. That being one of them. Also listen to the sound.
