I havent had a big manual transmission for very long, so I need someones opinion who has a bit more knowledge on them than me. On the way back from camping today, about 35 miles, my truck (7.3l idi, T19 tranny) started clanking every time I shifted from 1st to second. I was using the clutch the exact same way Ive been using it for months now. I may have heard the clank shifting from 2nd to 3rd once or twice, but Im not sure. The clank occurs while the clutch is in, and happens as I pull the shifter out of 1st. It will also occasionally pop out of first if I am going downhill coasting, maybe 3/10 times. Another thing I noticed is when I parked on my driveway (its got a pretty mean grade), I was parked nose up, left the tranny in 1st, and stopped the engine, the truck started to creep backwards just a teensy bit, about once every second. What do you think? Clutch problem? Low gear oil? Worn gears? Shift forks?
heres a pic of my new whip 89 trooper, $700 smogged and legal
troopers are cool, I'd especially love to have a first gen 3 door
Well then, the Mazda 3 GT was a disappointment. The road noise was as bad as my Cavalier, I couldn't feel the acceleration as much I was hoping despite having the bigger 2.5L engine and the navigation felt a bit... lame? Shit, it looks like I might be buying a Golf.
The torque curve in the 3 is very flat for an NA car. Also, when I bought the car, it seemed reluctant to rev. After I put some mileage on it, the top end opened up a bit. As far as noise, this thing is much quieter than my RSX was. Not getting nav will save you a couple hundred bucks, and you can pirate the nav later, if you care. My car came with it; it's fine, but the firmware my infotainment is on causes the nav to lock up. I need to take it in for the update, but I used that function so rarely, I don't care. The one thing I kinda miss is the cross-street notification that comes up when listening to music or whatever. But, if you like the VW better, get that. Extra benefit if it supports screen mirroring of the phone you use. Mazda doesn't natively support it on iOS or Android yet.
Time. The fuel pump for the suburban only lasted..... 2 months? And I have not even done 10 miles! Guess I get to open the hatch again and replace with a ac delco this time instead of a 24.99$ special.

The 2010-2013 feels much sportier, you just have to deal with the smiley face (if you don't like it). So, my roommate and I are going to an autocross tomorrow. I'll be in my MX-5, and he'll be in his 08 Corvette. We're hoping to have a great day!
Well fuck. I changed the fuel pump to a new Delphi, it's getting fuel NOW but its flooding the engine out!?!? If I mat the gas pedal to the floor it will cough sit and spudder (Injectors are pulsating kinda like normal) but if I leave it at the idle position she will do nothing (Injectors are pouring gas down its throat like its WOT) I think my fuel pressure regulator went out..... Good ol' Chevy breaks when it sitting. is that a grinding disc? not a cutoff wheel? [editline]18th June 2016[/editline] I mean at least a grinding disc isn't going to shatter and throw a spinning death wheel at your foot like I posted about yesterday but damn I'd rather hang myself than use a grinding wheel for cutting
Eh, I use a grinding wheel for cutting a shitton of pipe for work, but I'd hate using it for anything stronger.
I never got paying 30k for a new bottom of the line car when you can pay 20k for a used top of the line older car. Like a boring ass Golf GT for 30k, or a mint 05 STI for 20k
I briefly did some research on an older used WRX and the STI and the insurance was close to $100 more a month than a new Mazda 3 GT or Golf TSI. I really don't need a lot of power considering I think my Cavalier is somewhat "fun", the little 1.8L turbo with 170 HP and 200 ft/lbs of torque in the Golf was enough to put a smile on my face. Which was surprising considering I had test driven the Fiesta ST before the Golf. Is it expensive? Sure, though I'm a boring guy who doesn't spend his money on much else. I want a somewhat well built, comfortable, not-completely-gutless daily driver with some flashy bits of tech (Mainly Android Auto).
for fun and cheap to insure you can't beat a cvpi

I cringed every moment it was spinning. I was shirtless with shorts on and crocs. I alwase had it pointing in a semi-safe direction...But I still hate them. Especially when you don't know if someone dropped a grinder with the cutoff wheel on it. Instant Death.
Been calling, texting, etc. The WRX guy, can't get a reply. If anyone is in Virginia and wants to see if hes sinply not replying due to me being in another state, heres the ad; http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/cto/5638699022.html Really want it over my other choices.
Heh, right in my town, how about that. I remember seeing this exact cul de sac on the route my schoolbus took when I was in highschool. I think I might even know the guy, if it's who I think it is. :v: I can try texting the guy tomorrow to see if he sends anything back.

That's a good deal.
Well I ended up buying that duster I posted earlier. I was pricing out a hood for my 440 Duster and it came out to $1100 to my door, so I figured fuck it, if I gotta spend that much i may as well get a whole car [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile Uploads/image_zpstewfddoe.jpeg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile Uploads/image_zpstg9tdqqd.jpeg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile Uploads/image_zpsay8mwcy7.jpeg[/thumb] Original FE5 Orange 1970 340 4 speed Plymouth Duster (decently rare at 1 of 7500 340 4 speeds in 1970) 8 3/4, rallye dash, black interior, buckets, factory wing car (one of 1640), Rack and pinion steering, glass trunk lid fenders and hood, FE5 Orange, factory hood pins and "performance hood" (says on the fender tag but thats gone) Pretty complete car that I think I paid fairly for, gotta rape all the good parts and piece it together with not-as-rare parts I have laying around so it'll still be complete. Came with some other cool rare parts like original kelsey hays 4 piston calipers, factory adjustable rocker arms, all the 4 speed stuff, and heater delete parts (really hard to hunt down in canada haha) 440 Duster is getting damn close, I give it a solid week of work before its driving. [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpslcq4mtja.jpeg[/thumb] Seeing as I'm posting all these dusters, may as well post one of the three I got last year for $500! (It was in my photobucket feed so I figured why not) [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/5ADB0D47-5CB9-4DC2-A26A-1FACF5A83CF8_zpsvnksv3kw.jpg[/thumb] i go through a lot of these cars...
Fuck you Valon. Fuck. You. And fuck the sellers. And fuck Canada. I can't find the bones of a Duster/Satellite/RoadRunner for $1100 yet you manage to get most of a vehicle for that price
Holy shit I can't believe that one lasted more than an hour. That's a good deal.
It's an auto WRX with revuilt title. But still, i don't mind. I've been calling, emailing, texting, no responses. It's a 3 hour drive, I can't just show up even if i know where it is. The ad and phones inbox say the guys name is Dean.
24 hours of lemans running right now guys
Listed my Impreza, found an '03 Outback Sedan for $2500 with the 3.0 H6 and 125k miles. Has more hp than the WRX, funnily enough. Planning on checking it out, as the guy actually responded.
Someone please explain to me why the current fad is buying a Civic and fucking ruining it making it into something it's not? You're taking something reliable and making it.. not reliable. You can polish a turd all you want but it's still gonna be a turd... Someone please tell me wrong because I'm genuinely curious. I don't find these cars attractive at all and they're definitely stupid looking when someone tries to lower it and make it look/sound cool. [editline]18th June 2016[/editline] I have a few friends who have them and dump money putting bullshit that's worth more than the car itself on it and the POS' are constantly in the shop
cause people like them and sometimes people like things you dont and thats ok

since my car is being difficult (1995 taurus) with my cracked windshield and just general weirdness in driving (i still haven't diagnosed that random transmission lockup), i've been looking around would it be that bad to go from a 1995 taurus to maybe a cvpi? i'm seeing some for like 2300ish in my area, and it looks like kbb on my car is something like 1500 [editline]18th June 2016[/editline] also having pillar spots would be silly but kinda fun

You already know what I'm gonna say, so I'm gonna save us all some time and let you verbally abuse yourself.
also can someone with a 2005ish crown vic/cvpi(aka trekintosh), tell me if there's any good spots to do a suction cup phone mount in it? i'm not a huge fan of windshield mounted setup, i'd prefer somewhere on dash (ideally below dashline)
Went out and put the OBDII scanner on the suburban. It was reading -40*F on the coolant temp. Changed out the sensor and tada it runs.... Now to figure out why the transfer case wont en gauge the front.
Best $30 for piece of mind I've spent on the Blazer. Passenger seal [t]https://i.imgur.com/PEeY47u.jpg[/t] Driver seal was just as bad and I was so fucking sick of the noise and water getting in. So I bought new stuff for $30. [t]https://i.imgur.com/UFNrf6Q.jpg[/t] Added extra support on that corner because I never want to hear the wind through my seal again, but it was flush before. Saved me from going crazy. Passenger replacement is ordered.
