2005 BMW 330i ZHP
Six speed manual, Alcantara interior and some other goodies
200k Miles but I paid less than half of what similar condition 120k mile zhps go for and has a book of service records an inch thick.
Bought it from the second owner who owned it since 10k, completely unmolested and maintained.

Fuck that's nice, I'm dying to get a black E46 daily.
Just saw another goofy mistake. Friend bought a new alternator for a ol car and it fried within a hr.
Remember a dead battery is hell on a alternator charge that batt up before cranking and long runtimes!
(Granted I forgot to mention on jumping a dead batt every time)

Is this a 4-in-1 gauge?
E%, Boost, AFR, and logger?
Could I just use one of these for a boost gauge?
Got my hands dirty for the first time today in my miata
I cleaned my EGR valve out and my thottle body plate. The car idles a lot better now and my CEL hasn't come back. I'm addicted now. I want to rip off my upper intake manifold and clean it now too, along with taking my throttle body off completely and scrubbing it down.
Cars are cool.
Dude cleaning metal is so fucking nice. I want to do the same but I'm pretty sure I'd need some seals before doing that.
Turns out Supertech filters are made by Wix, can't beat $2.85 for a filter that's good enough for 3000mi oil change intervals. I could have went for a Honda blue Fram can with a silicone ADBV but meh the cartridge is shit. $19.50 for some good oil and a acceptable filter really can't be beat though. Gonna have to stock up on some Denso filters though.
Can someone please tell me what diagnostic options I have for my car?
1996-11-08 E36 318ti - EUR M44 1.9 Automatic
I keep finding so conflicting answers, some say nothing before 96, some say nothing after, some mention the pedal mash method etc etc.
What do you mean diagnostic? Like code-reading? Any standard code reader should pull check engine lights on that, it's an OBDII car.
Any standard live data capable scan tool should show sensor data, too.
Nice car, btw. My roomie has one. It's a fun little kicker, drives smooth on the freeway. Hope you take better care of it than he does. :v:
Started removing the 10 year old dull looking clear bra from the front of the e46. paint looks brand new underneath. most of it came off easy but the hood is being a bitch and coming off in chunks, gonna have to finish tomorrow. There will probably still be a small line but im going to clay the whole car then polish and wax and it should look good.

So check out this Craigslist ad;

Pretty low price, chances are it's a scam, right? Strut tower colors don't match up between photos, that stuff. But there's a decent amount of info, so I decide to text the guy.
Things he told me;
Tuned for E85, makes 600hp, can do 1000 on spray probably.
Wouldn't make a good daily
Mechanically sound
Needs tires probably
Parents bought it for him, and they own GM dealerships in Texas so he wants a GM car no Chrysler
He gets off of work about 8-ish tomorrow night
He had 28 interested buyers
And the big kicker.... He's waiting for the title in the mail to get shipped up here. Mailed out on Monday.
What.. the.. fuck? Like, it's gotta be a scam. It's just too weird to not be. But who goes through all that work to text someone (me) for like 30 minutes about some scam car?
So strange.
My dad's afraid my car is gonna get stolen if I park outside, so I guess I'm forced to install an alarm system. I figure I'll convert it to power locks while I'm at it. The Viper 3305v sounds like a pretty okay kit for my budget.

I use a pedal lock

Like that one. Works perfectly fine, would take a potential thief a long while to get it off.
Two way alarms are nice too. Simple to install.

Add a backup battery, and interior siren to it and it's some pretty nice kit. I have a 3105v and I'd highly suggest the 3305v with the 2 way. Expect to spend a couple days with the car taken apart tweaking door actuators and troubleshooting bad wiring. I've installed a few now and unless you're clutch and do it professionally it's not gonna go exactly as planned ever. My alarm was extremely erratic in if it actually wanted to work or not when I first got it hooked up. I'm assuming it was some sync issues with the keyfob or something but only once in a while will the keyfob not work on the first press now.

I did this like two years ago and I still haven't hooked up the ignition trigger or ground while armed for an actual "kill switch". :v:
I just use battery disconnects. alarms are overkill.
Well, after getting the car done for tomorrows track testing I still needed to get it aligned because it slightly steers to the left. After aligning everything the car still steers to the left, worst case the chassis is bent after the last encounter....
Looks like it's gonna be a long night, we're pulling everything in the front and replacing it with spare parts in the hope that it fixes it :v:

Yeah when I changed the battery on the evo I was like woah this feels heaps faster, what with the alternator no longer loading up the engine.
I really don't know all the mods that are done to the car cause I am not a very car savy guy.

I basically took this car to car shows so it has very low miles.
Took it to shows with those dipshit eyebrows and scrapes on the front splitter. Parents own GM dealerships, but somehow bought him a superneon.
This is a bullshit car, or else one wrought with many factual inconsistencies from the seller. I'd let one of the "28" other people get screwed on this one.

That sucks, I'm so excited for tomorrow!
I finished replacing my brake discs and pads, lubed the pins up and replaced the valve cover gasket.
Should be ready for the track now!

Nice, should be dry weather tomorrow. Also I'm dead fucking set on driving tomorrow after all this work so you'll probably see me tomorrow!
I just use battery disconnects. alarms are overkill.
The last owner put a battery cutoff switch in the frunk, but that was more so because he kept it parked for long periods of time. Also, I like not having to reset the radio presets and clock everyday. lol Besides, I miss having a remote. :v:
Btw, anyone here ever clean their evaporator core with that foam stuff? My ac kinda smells funky. The dealership has Toyota branded stuff but it's like 40 bucks.
I just use battery disconnects. alarms are overkill.
If i leave my truck sitting long periods of time, i disconnect the fuel shutoff solenoid.
As if anyone looking for cars to steal in an upper middle class neighborhood would be terribly excited to get their hands on my rusty old diesel farm truck.
My mom called and asked me why her year old Sonata's air conditioning smells like burning kerosene
Any ideas??

an alarm isn't going to stop that.
Well, in the hell that is installing a Miata roll bar, I met my goal tonight of removing the seats and softtop. So manyyyyy bitch clips (retainers) and hard as fuck bolts and nuts to loosen! But I'm hoping I'll be on schedule to finish it by the 4th and be able to drive it again for the 5th essentially.
Plastic retainer clips need to just stop.
Gosh Mr. Regular has such a way with words.. and he gets it. He isn't afraid to call out manufacturers who do dumb stuff. He isn't afraid to say "cars today coddle the moron drivers" or anything like that.
His MR2 trilogy is great. :)

Day 1. The process of restoring a 6? Ford Ranch wagon has begun.
I am going to die now from rat turds being inhaled. On the bright side the entire interior is removed, seats are NOT going back in until reupholstered. Also inside was pressure washed.
Its such a nice felling when you have convenient rust holes in the floor pan the side of your ass for water to drain out. Now for it to sit for afew days dry out and then ge get to figure out getting it running again and a wiring solution. And fining some railroad or street signs for floor boards.
This is going to be roadkill to the max with less zip ties and more money being thrown at the situation.
I've liked the idea of using street signs as patches since I saw it in Roadkill.

Yeah I should've asked where that is :v: I haven't seen it.
Yeah they are pretty cool in their own way.
It's usually somewhere in the driver footwell.
