It's usually somewhere in the driver footwell.
If I remember the design document for OBD-2 correctly, then the port is supposed to be reachable from the drivers seat. That means it can be behind a panel of sorts (or in one rare case I've experienced, under the shift boot)
Went downtown last weekend and snuck into a parking garage on campus.

Had to stop and take a picture when the sun went down. It's in 2K in case any one wants a new wallpaper. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ew5B9Rm.jpg[/t]

Welp, we're probably selling our F-150 next week in order to keep the family afloat because of bad business. Carmax has offered $25,000 for a 2012 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat 2wd with full options and a Snugtop shell. Is that reasonable?
Apparently the race track near the airport is suspending the sprints it does due to noise complaints :downs:

My buddy who bought a Dodge Dart last year just traded it in for a 2008 G37, just sent me some snaps of it.

He was so right. EVERYONE NEEDS AN AW11.

Here's the OBDII port on a 318ti, that's the hood release to the left hand side of the shot; Also, bummer from Craigslist land. My friend with the DSM addiction was talking to someone about a one owner GST with 60,000 miles. The owner had died and the family was willing to sell it.. we were going to go get it tomorrow, $5k. Today they changed their mind and are going to keep it :( Darning. It was cherry metallic red, too. Looked gorgeous. It might be confirmation bias, but I feel like I see far more of them with no badges than any other make. BMWs are a close second around here.

It's for people who really, REALLY don't care about driving, or people who are really bad at it. No one should have to die because of people like them, and if this is the mildly annoying price we have to pay in order for that to happen, then so be it.

You can still by cars without ABS or Traction control, but when you have mid-engine RWD cars that can readily produce snap-oversteer (the subject of the video), you need something in place to stop that from happening.
Transmission question for those who are more knowledgable than I: Why dont more cars use sequential gearboxes? I cant help but think that the good ol H-pattern shifters are mostly a relic of the double clutch days, when a nuetral was needed between every gear. Now that everything is synchronized, wouldnt it make more sense to just have it be"push stick forward for gear up, back for gear down"? My motorcycle gearbox doesnt even have synchros, all the shafts are always spinning at close enough of a speed that a momentary pop of the clutch and the dogs on the gears is all it needs.

You cant skip gears and the H pattern is useful for retards because the position of the stick gives a general idea of what gear you're in. And they're more expensive. [editline]3rd July 2016[/editline] and people will just generally destroy them extremely quick
Well, you can skip gears, just push the clutch and pop the shifter back twice or 3 times or all the way down fuck it. And its not very hard to have a display that tells you what gear youre in, goldwings have them. Personally i dont even keep track of what gear im in on my bike, i just know if i need more torque, go down, more gearing, go up. Works fine. I guess i can see noise and reliability being a thing, a car sized straight cut gearbox is screaming loud, and with all the extra weight of cars, the gear dogs would probably get worn down pretty quick by dumbasses who think they dont need a clutch.

The cars left that are "driver's cars" are things like the Elise, Corvette and the like. The cheapest one I can think of would probably be the Miata, and it's not like that's a bottom dollar car by any means. (MSRP from $25k it looks like). The belt lines on cars are raising up higher in the name of "pedestrian impact safety" and the old lithe sleek look of cars will never be what it was in the 90's and early 00's. As was mentioned in the 3rd gen MR2 video, a car like that will never exist again. It's simply the "wrong shape". A major characteristic of old cars is that they didn't feel numb. My '99 base model Prizm got a pair of lowering springs and it is a hoot to drive. I'm sure it's under 100hp to the wheels, but it's like bombing around in an old barnstormer practically. Heck, ever before the drop is was tight enough to be some fun. That's a feeling that's been very numbed in a large majority of new cars. I'm not sure if it's the electronic power steering or what, but the feeling of zipping around just isn't the same. My NSX has electronic power steering, and you still need to use 2 hands to turn the wheel. It's not something to mute out the road, simply make the car approachable to someone who's not he-man. If I don't want the traction control on I push a button no matter what speed I'm going and it disengages. No stopping, putting it in park, holding a button, etc etc. Do I have a right to complain if the Corolla or the Camry have become wet socks to drive? Of course not. They weren't meant to be a fun car. I get that, the everyday people who don't care abut driving can have that. BUT when a review of the new WRX can describe how it drives like; "Driving a faster Corolla" that's inexcusable. The WRX has always been a meathead lumpity boxer noise bro machine that didn't make any apologies because it didn't NEED to. But now the newest generation has dashed it upon the rocks of time. Some cars are a shock to the system when they come out, and after a year or two you get used to how the "new" one looks and it just blends in. Not the new Impreza/WRX body. In my opinion it's ruined. It has become another overweight lump (just like most Americans) that does nothing to be conspicuous. Will the 70 year old who buys a new Subaru every 2 years like it? I'm sure. But that does nothing for the human condition. When a bro machine can be reduced to a Camry with a boxer engine, where are we to go from there? The AE86 from RCR is another good example. It's an economy car, 4 cyl, RWD, stick.. nothing special. This is what a 'normal car' was in the 80s. But damn if Mr. Regular didn't have a full on gasm over the thing. It's the overall feel and experience of a car that'll get you hooked. If that can was a numb steering future-box full of feel good snuggles and a traction control computer that recites why being in a nanny state is a thing to feel good about not to fear it wouldn't be the same. It's a thing, I swear it is. There's a couple bastions of excess left on the market (Focus RS, Hellcat, P85D) for the driver who wants something that no one NEEDS, but the soul WANTS.. but if you don't think all cars are starting to look and feel the same, go test drive some new stuff. You will be disappointed by how boring and soulless most new cars feel.
I have undertaken the holy petrolhead pilgrimage once more along fury road and I am now awaited in Valhalla. [t]http://i.imgur.com/FpRgpUl.jpg[/t] The Nordschleife was great.
So I bought a set of those power lock actuators and I figured, since I have a couple extras, I'll set the aux button on the viper remote to pop the trunk too. Will the same actuators work, or is there a specific type I should use that always defaults to the locked position? I'm imagining that if I use these, one I click unlock, the latch mechanism for the trunk will stay open indefinitely. I figure the type used with door poppers are more like what I'm looking for?
