Really hot and humid day? that and incredibly cold is bad for electronics in general.
Probably a protection circuit that prevented it from turning on in order to prevent it from being damaged when used.
True, but at the same time, it's been even more muggy and warmer all week this week than when it happened, and it's still never done it again.
I think the 2nd gear synchros in my car are going bad. It doesn't grind as if you're trying to shift without clutching, but it's a very noticable crunchy feeling on the gear lever every time I shift into 2nd especially when shifting down. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it does hurt me on the inside every time it happens. :v:
My NB is doing the same thing, it hurts me
I know my gear selecters dash doesn't work unless it's EXTREMELY hot outside. It'll just turn on when it gets really hot, like turn the heat on fullblast in the summer hot.
The work truck where I used to work you can only shift on the column shifter if you turn the wheel all the way to the left.

Learn to downshift/rev match, that shit is so satisfying and let's you shift a lot smoother.
Anyone got any reccomendations for spare parts you should have just in case? Going to pick up some e36 compact parts from a guy.
I took the camper off the truck so i could get it in the garage and tear the front axle apart, and holy shit it feels so fast now. Its so nice to drive without the huge mobile stabbin waggon on it. If i had a flat place to put the camper that wasnt the side of the street, i would totally dd this thing.

Depends on the car? Like my gf needs to keep extra tires and spine adjustment surgeons because her jeep's suspension is bullshit. I typically have to keep an extra set of intake valves in the glove box just to be safe. Never know when it might miss.

Building a stone guard / light duty brush guard.
3/8" copper tubing, will be covered with stainless stucco mesh.
Was very iffy on the 3/8" copper, but it's much stronger than i expected. Any strong hit will crush or deform it, but I mainly want it to block rocks.
Got rained out tonight, so the mesh goes on tomorrow.
Ogod. Checked CL for any audi Avants.
1000$ for a 99 A6 Avant Grey.
Only needs Center Cluster rebuild,ABS rebuild, Cruise Control rebuild, Entire front control arm kit, Timing Belt kit, Valve Cover Gaskets, Front and rear bumper.
Then I would be back to step 1 like I was before with ol silver! But with 200k less hard miles.
It's kinda sad how you figure it and the simple 1k vehicle turns quickly into a 4k vehicle just off fucking VAG maintence.
I'm getting a buzzing sound from my stereos AUX channel whenever I turn the gauge lights on and it wasn't there before. What's the deal? Should I remake the aux cable with some shielded wire or something?
My first Ebay experience is a bad one.
( sorry for shiitty phone pics )

These two are going back.
Also, is it normal for a set of two carbs to only have one jet/nozzle total? because bot sets I checked only had one jet/nozzle thingy
motortrend uploading a new roadkill garage teaser because birdman is the only person who's paid for it

Jesus fuck. The guys I bought parts from today had such a great place. They paid about 100 dollars a month for two car spots and sharing a lift and forklift.
The place was so nice I'd just stay there and help with anything if they weren't preoccupied.

the prop shafts is bent to shit, that tore up the seals, that let water in and about 3/4ths of the oil out. whole foot needs a rebuild. that means I can't go on the water this weekend.
what started as a 30 minute impeller swap turned into a 3 hour long debacle trying to figure out why the foot oil turned into chocolate milk and ultimately not getting any real work done other than an autopsy.
There's this thing called thumbing images
yeah and it saves you about a hundredth of a second at most

My windshield rubber popped out overnight and I can't get it back on. Do I need to get the windshield back out? The last owner just got it done... I'm gonna call up the shop he did it at tomorrow, but that's 40 miles away.
The glass guy down the street is hesitant to cut out good glass to remount it.
DDing the Impreza, while trying to fix it up, is a PITA.
One of the shafts on the rear of my diesel is toast, been dailying the Impreza for a week now.
Next on my list of mechanicals to check is the brakes, it has the notorious long travel issue.
It's either pedal to booster adjustment, or shot booster.
Got to stage 2 of the brush guard today. Still a good bit to go.

I took a car on a test drive today. Good acceleration and handling, but the seats aren't that comfortable...

"Long Travel Issue"
Ha you mean GM quality breaks. Or... old car vs new car breaks. Because Jesus fuck stepping into a new car and be barely touching the break pedal sends you threw the windshield is rather annoying.

OOOOOOO do tell more! Was that an arrive and drive sort of deal, or do you have some cool connections? Also, why didn't they give you slicks? I'm so jealous, I would love to drive any sort of formula car!
My friend sadly had to list his 86 Fiero on Craigslist since he hasn't been getting the reliability he needs and it wasn't much of a good example any way. As the ad states, he just dumped a good sum of monies to get it in running, inspectible condition again. Been saying he wants to find a Lexus SC300 now with a V8 in it. Not sure what to think, but it does sound like a bit of a fun sleeper. Just surprised he doesn't still want a Miata after I let him drive mine, and after all that obsession he went through with them before he went with a Fiero.
I already gave him a few tips for a better layout of the text in the ad, such as listing the parts fixed instead of just one big paragraph. What do you guys think?

Arrive and drive event, www.theformulaexperience.com part of the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. It was pretty damn fun, my only complaint was the lack of effort to give the drivers a comfortable setting. No seat liner or anything, so I had to almost lay down to reach the pedals, ground the crap out of the gears as a result of not being able to sit up and get the clutch all the way to the floor.
Here's the onboard video.

The tires are all different and backwards on that formula. Makes me OCD
Anyone know anything about drum brake auto-adjusters? The travel on my brake pedal has been getting longer over the last few months so I ordered some new brake shoes for my back drum brakes thinking they had worn out and the auto-adjusters had no more length to adjust with. I pulled the drum of the brake a few minute ago though and the brake pads were about 50% good. I have to assume the auto adjuster is busted but it could be something else. Anyone got any ideas?

I work with car glass pretty much daily.
The glass guy is hesitant to cut it out because it's really easy to break it while doing so, and then you're gonna have to buy another windshield.
What you can try though is to use a plastic prying tool and lots of soapy water and try to push it back into place. If you can't, you could cut away the part that goes behind the windshield and then get the glass guy to put some glass glue in the crack and use that to hold it in place.
Hey, a while ago my father rebuilt the FZJ-80 engine in his land cruiser, and since then it's had an oil pressure problem. A second pressure gauge has been installed to double check it and it confirms the issue.
It starts fine, but once it's been run for a few minutes and the oil heats up, it loses all pressure and sounds 'rattley'.
So far the oil pump, all bearings, the head is brand new (but not made by Toyota), and everything else that we can think of has been either checked or replaced. We are out of ideas by this point. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
