It's not a gasket, it's just trim.
Putting whatever in the corner to keep it in place will be fine. The glue under the windshield is what's sealing it, not the trim.
I assumed it was a gasket because the top edge of the windshield isn't glued. If i peel it off and look from the inside, I can see light coming in from the outside of the car along the top as well as the edge of the rubber trim that pinches the glass to hold it in place. If you look at the far right, you can see the bit of rubber trim peeping through without a dab of glue in sight along the top edge...

I've washed my car twice now and it didn't leak when it was in place, so I'm not really sure what to think of it.
Can any of you mk2 mr2 guys confirm if it's like this on your guys' cars or if its just me?
Waiting for parts suuuucks, I just want to drive my BMW again :(

It should be glued all the way around. No windshield ever uses both options. Especially since your windshield has a black border, it should be glued.
I have no idea what's going on on the top of your windshield but it sure as hell doesn't look normal.
Annnd the bumpers ready to go,

So I had a shitty day in the automotive world. And in general. As I was leaving work to head out for a beer to celebrate a friend's birthday, my bike wouldn't start. Battery was good, checked with a voltmeter for a second before figuring it was the starter solenoid, as pushing the start button did nothing at all.
No biggie, just cross the +/- on the solenoid with my car key and fire the bitch up, right? Worked great. Except for the fact my bike was in gear, I wasn't on it, wasn't holding the clutch, and it lurched forward, knocking the kickstand up and tipping the bike over... right into a coworker's car.
Gave him a nice big dent in his front right fender, and on top of that, he's the head developer at my company. I've known him for 6 years and he's a great dude, was very understanding and said we didn't have to bother with insurance, just told me to get a quote for repairs and we'll call it even. There goes my savings, awesome.
I head out to grab the beer I'd planned on to begin with, figuring I'd feel a bit better, only to do the SAME FUCKING THING at a gas station, except this time it plopped straight to the ground and snapped my clutch lever.
I think I'm just going to go drink myself to sleep now and hope I don't wake up as stupid tomorrow.
Paint ordered for my Dart. I am so excited to get her up to spec again. New tail pipes after that, but I'll be able to drive her again! :joy::joy::joy:
Dad's going to take a few days off to paint it, I'm gonna try to do the same to learn some stuff. I haven't ever done a full job before.
If I can get her looking half as good again I'll be right fucking pleased.

I like keeping all fingers and body panels in a straight line... Thanks guys for testing the waters.

There's a guy here in vicksburg who deals in pretty much everything old VW. If you want I can dig around for his number, I'm sure I've got his card somewhere around here.
Went to a small car show this evening south of Denver.
What the hell is that decepticon
Prlly the coolest car at the show, soooo
IT must be a shitty week for auto stuff. I fully assembled the Turbo Slant MK2, and so in honor of that, I called upon the heavens and asked them to draw the Turbo Slant MK1 into the sky, and verily the heavens had answered and thine slant rose from its cradle and was placed upon a used truck tire so sayeth the lord. Once the dreaded bolts holding thine larger part of the transmission were removed, it went up towards the heavens.

But a Demon was afoot. A demon called ignorance, and he had laden our hero - Dave with the notion that the rod caps should be installed in a manner that was not correct, thust whence the great Dave attempted to place his divine tool of spark appropriation in a circular device into the distributor hole, thine crank hath become ni impossible to rotate! Even with the strength of the Gods, or Mustang Sally, this divine shaft shant be rotated. Upon dissasembly of the divine machine, he hath discovered the bearings which sought to hold the rotational apparatus in order had become most canted at a peculiar angle.

A shaman of great power who lived on the Summit of Racing was called upon and asked to deliver upon Dave, 6 new bearing casings of divine judgement, also requested were new rings of power! Because he sought to replace them as the cost was not great and he sayeth and it was so. New conduits to transfer the spark of Odin and Thor himself! - from the divine rotational device that divides the spark equally amongst its brethren.
What a kick in the nuts! Coulda had 'er in! Are you going to gap the rings differently for boost? Dont forget to use some plastiguage (?) between the crank journal and the bearing to check how tight it is.
Did you put in a new cam as well, I forget? Lube that bitch up good and dont forget to run a rod down the distributor hole to prime the oil pump.
If you've got the head off, see if you can find some detroit engine assembly lube (peanutbutter lookin stuff). My dad runs it on his racecar so that when you're torquing stuff (specifically the heads) that you'll read correct
Did you check valve seal aswell?
I was racing a 00-04 White Chevy Pickup, I seemed to have the advantage because his electronic limiter was playing games on him I passed him and he could never pass me up. :V:
Then I got radar'd in the triple digits. Cop threw on reds and blues and he took the side road to the left and I took the side road to the right. My CB kicked over from a trucker "You two kids in those trucks you better run, the law just passed me doin 120 with a Christmas tree full of lights" I answered back "Just tell me if he goes straigh,t me and the other truck just went blackout and are going as fast as we can." Then I herd another voice over the radio. "Little grey this is Little white. I got you 5 on 5 good luck out there may your rubber stay down and the lord watching you." I replied back "10-4 Little White may the MotorGods be on your side tonight."
Never herd back from him. I turned on my ......thing........ and made afew call backs to him to see if he made it back to *InsertCityHere* but he never responded. :( I hope bro didn't flip over.
My CB came helpfull tonight. Cool.

So bright, so shiny
This is the 'base' layer. I filled and fixed obvious issues, the silver brought out a lot more small issues and imperfections I have to fix.
I like it, but it will be incredibly bright.
Disassembly almost complete.

Assembly barely started.

Looks like them Duke boys are at it again.
Happy birthday birdman may your weekend be rock'n.
Been wheelin' and dealin'.
Got a rare dual cup holder, retails for $50, for a couple dollars.
Got a Forester center console for $12, will graft it with mine to add 3 more cup holders.
Found a TI-83+ calc for $2.95, sold for $20 the same day.
Found a brand new GTA V PS3 in wrapper for $4, sold for $20.
Tons of work to do on my Subaru. Was drooling over parts the yard had, but no money for them. Brand new looking and feeling seats, lots of hard to get parts i wanted.

The head is a brand new-ish refreshed head that I've pulled off the original slant mk1. It has brand new valves, springs, seals, ground down seats, ported, and polished.
I ordered plastigauge with the other stuff from summit. For $2.00 it's worthwhile always. It's a new cam with a slight amount more lift than stock, but minimal overlap so the boost doesn't get blown out the exhaust. The head is off and the oil pan are off for now. THe cam bearings are good to go. The ARP studs came with a torquing lubricant, kind of similar to black peanut butter feeling stuff, that is on them. They also allow me to torque to 75 ft/lbs instead of 60 for the stock bolts, and no risk of head bolt stretch.
