I've always liked older Volvos. I'd love to have a 240 or a 242 some day.
The head is a brand new-ish refreshed head that I've pulled off the original slant mk1. It has brand new valves, springs, seals, ground down seats, ported, and polished.
I ordered plastigauge with the other stuff from summit. For $2.00 it's worthwhile always. It's a new cam with a slight amount more lift than stock, but minimal overlap so the boost doesn't get blown out the exhaust. The head is off and the oil pan are off for now. THe cam bearings are good to go. The ARP studs came with a torquing lubricant, kind of similar to black peanut butter feeling stuff, that is on them. They also allow me to torque to 75 ft/lbs instead of 60 for the stock bolts, and no risk of head bolt stretch.

IS that Dart sport in the photo the beaknose that you are referring to?
Yes! That is mine a handful of years ago before the paint got pinked out and just shitty in general due to some bad primer. I've posted few pics here and there, but I lurk in this thread more often than not.
Same color again, but hopefully it'll be much more durable this time around.

Day 3 of camping trip, im in a full service rv park with showers and wifi. Not as cool as the previous two secluded forest service campgrounds. Yesterday morning i took the truck up a few miles of old logging trails to get us within .8 miles of castle peak, which we hiked up and got engaged at. She said yes obv. After that i took the truck down the wrong trail and went up some pretty nasty trails, large rocks, ruts, steep hills, ect. Turned around in a spot barely large enough for the 7 point turn it took, and did it all again but made it back to gravel. Ive got a lot more faith in both the truck and the camper now. Hell of a mess inside, but the wheels never spun, i never killed it, and the camper mounts didnt even work loose. The only problem was that first gear is a little worn and likes to pop out while going downhill. Got a few new paint scratches too. The fuel selector valve works good too, except that it doesnt like to start after sitting a while on the front tank. I think the fuel is running back, but it doesnt happen on the rear tank. I had to whip out the gasoline rag to get ot out of the way at a gas station on the way here.
Bonus pic, sick fucking ural i found in custer today. Waaaaaant.

Sometimes all it takes is 1!

On one hand, its easy to do stuff underneith, on the other hand anything with the engine is a bitch to do.
If you've got a spare head, why dont you give porting it a whirl? Or even cut it into sections so you can figure out where you can and cant port?
that is the tiniest most adorable little pod filter
Yeah it's really tiny, and crap quality. It's a motorcycle filter which I use as an oil breather filter.

I'm sensing you'd literally kill for a Volvo Laplander with upgraded brake system and a beefier engine swapped in.

You're talking shit about a mid-engined offroader.
It's hard to find something more manly and capable.
I was racing a 00-04 White Chevy Pickup, I seemed to have the advantage because his electronic limiter was playing games on him I passed him and he could never pass me up. :V:
Then I got radar'd in the triple digits. Cop threw on reds and blues and he took the side road to the left and I took the side road to the right. My CB kicked over from a trucker "You two kids in those trucks you better run, the law just passed me doin 120 with a Christmas tree full of lights" I answered back "Just tell me if he goes straigh,t me and the other truck just went blackout and are going as fast as we can." Then I herd another voice over the radio. "Little grey this is Little white. I got you 5 on 5 good luck out there may your rubber stay down and the lord watching you." I replied back "10-4 Little White may the MotorGods be on your side tonight."
Never herd back from him. I turned on my ......thing........ and made afew call backs to him to see if he made it back to *InsertCityHere* but he never responded. :( I hope bro didn't flip over.
My CB came helpfull tonight. Cool.
"i got radared tonight by a cop going 100+ mph"
"then i evaded arrest"
"did i mention i was street racing"
"oh and my evading arrest consisted of continuing at a high rate of speed with my lights off"
you're not cool you're a grade a douchebag

Sounds a bit more like a Grade A Jackass, but douchebag would be more appropriate if he actually caused issues for other drivers.
This is a prime example of a Grade S Douchebag:

And yet, 14+million views, along with just under 480k subscribers. Appalling for sure, but there is a twisted side in most of us that might still consider doing it.

I don't think you understand how a radio works. You definitely don't transmit what your really gonna do over the air.
Almost every trooper here has a CB and some in our area even have talkback tones too.

and still evaded arrest
because you were racing

Let's find something rear-engined front-wheel-drive for ya.

I don't know, My speedo stops at 85. I have 3.42 gears and 31" tires and was hauling a extra 600lbs with me in the bed.
Sorry Officer, It appears that the memory of the situation is a little hazy from all the drugs and blowjobs I've been getting the last few nights. I will let you know when I figure out.
Meh, sometimes young'ns race out in the boonies. It's a fact of life in the country no matter where you are. I got a kick out of the story, no one died, life carries on.
out with the old, in with the sick and nasty

the little orange torquemonster does wheelies at any speed now. unfortunately top speed is 18mph now, so Im going to put a bigger sprocket on the jackshaft, maybe a smaller rear wheel sprocket, and play with some springs and stuff to raise the governor speed a bit. If Im cruising at WOT on the governor and I reach down and hit the gofast lever, the front wheel goes up. So much power.
Can anyone recommend me a socket set? I don't need anything super fancy but I would like some tools that will last? What brands etc.

I bet you're the kind who stops at red lights and gives way at signed intersections
Hmmm there's a E36 320i (m3 package) for sale for 500usd. Looks pretty decent. 150k miles on the clock with minor defects.
I really don't need another car but I currently don't have a daily, soo it's really tempting.

e36 for 500 bucks doesn't sound very good, if you're looking for a daily tbh.
If there's one guy in here that could daily a $500 E36, it's Strontboer.
