Automotive Addicts Lounge V4 - Lube my pistons, baby

Does anyone know where I can find some engine rebuild manuals or specs?
Looking for a '98 Chrysler 3.3/3.8 one.
I have a Haynes manual but it's not very thorough.
Had a chance to diagnose my Subaru's new idle issues a bit.
Battery cables, slightly corroded, need new dielectric grease
Coil pack - 3 very mildly corroded, one very heavily corroded. Cleaned, will add dielectric to seal.
The coil pack issue seems most likely to be it. At idle, it would stumble as if one cylinder was refusing to fire.
A few times, it refused to start - possibly due to one cyllinder not getting spark?

Small rant, somewhat auto related as my phone is mainly for emergencies (IE break down, accident, flashlight).
My LG G2 VS980 has been the most unreliable POS ever.
I got it in a trade, knowing the digitizer was not right.
The phone was in prestine condition, no scratches, just one of the many VS980's shipped with a faulty digitizer.
I replaced the screen + digitizer for $60.
Upon getting the phone to a usable state, I find that the proximity sensor is shot. Another very common VS980 problem. $10 fix, prevents the phone from being used at all (includiing flashlight) in the dark.
Used the phone this way for 6 months. Now it has another, less common but known, VS980 issue. It randomly dies, no matter the battery percentage or what is going on.
Anywhere from 10-80% battery, it will shut down and not turn back on - as if the battery is flat.
All the threads I find mention returning it to the store, no fixes found.
Basically, I'm stuck with an unreliable POS phone. I'm selling it, disclosing the issues, to buy an S5 active or standard S5.

Do you have verizon?
I only have a HTC Moto something that I would give you (IMIE Status unknown)
Screen is cracked. Digitizer still works. 100% Functional.
HTC6435LVW is the model number.
Help I need an adult
or at least someone who knows more mathy stuff than me
I used a jackshaft gear ratio calculator to tell me that the gear ratio on my minibike is 1:8.33 (holy shit), but if I swap the sprockets on my jackshaft I can get it to 1:4.33. If my top speed before the swap was 23 mph, would it be correct that my top speed after the swap would be 44 mph?
Because if that is correct, I wouldnt even need to fiddle with the governor, and I could just focus on simple stuff, like intake/exhaust/carb to make up for some of the gearing Im losing.
You will will be happy with removing the gov from those little pred 212s.
You will will be happy with removing the gov from those little pred 212s.
Well if I got my piddly math right, I wouldnt really even want to remove the governor. Over 44mph on those itty bitty wheels? With 50 year old tires? I like harsh vibrating 50 year old deathmachines as much as the next guy, but thats pushing it. I suppose if I left the gear ratio around 1:6 it would make more sense to remove it to get more top speed, but Ive got all the top speed I want. Ill just probably want more acceleration, which Ill get from bolt-ons. Oh, and right now the clutch is only fully engaged at 12mph, so theres a fine chance Ill be going through 20$ clutches pretty quick.

I use Cricket. This VS980 is unlocked for all networks.
Thanks for the offer. I plan to get everything off this phone, sell it, and use my work phone ($30 smartphone) until i can get the S5/S5 Active that I really want.
I'm confused as all fucks. My WRX has a Blouch TD05 16g, with an 18 psi wg actuator apparently. What confuses me, is if I bypass the stock boost controller (plug both vac lines together), it will go nuts all the way to 18psi, but with the BC connected, my boost is anywhere from 11-16 (boost creep)
I thought it worked the other way around, BC restricts airflow to the WG so it won't open... how the fuck is the BC opening the WG if the psi is below the wg's spring.

yeah it'll be 44 assuming it's not so over geared it bogs. if it's a preddy you definitely want to remove the governor
Did a bit more work on the boat today. Replaced the shift cable, first off, it's way too long. probably a good foot or two. Still got it on, just have to route it a little weird. It shifted fine, throttle is really hard though. So I decided to test just the throttle a bit, hit the button on the back of the control box to disconnect the shifter, and now I can't get it to shift again. And now it's raining, so I can't do anything, or try the freshly charged battery.
And the kicker? I might be buying another boat :v:

Not too bad for a beginner, but don't forget to make sure the welding surface is SPOTLESS before welding. Tig isn't forgiving like stick when it comes to impurities.
Also, don't take the tip of your filler out of the shielding when dabbing or walking the cup. When you take the tip of the filler rod out of the shielding, it's collecting impurities which your are bringing right back into the weld when you put it back in.
But overall not too bad.
Good news!
So I had extra Pine Sol so I dumped that Snapper mower's carb into it. A bunch of people online said that it would clean out varnish and it actually did a pretty decent job!
Was it a bad idea? I have no idea but hell it's not like those carburetors are expensive to replace or get parts for anyway.
I put it all back together and I got the motor to run. Except I gotta put the cables back onto it and adjust it.
Pretty excited to finally be able to mow my lawn, I wish tractor tires didn't cost as much as they do though.

plus my garage now smells like a pine tree gangbang so that's something

Ill see how it feels after the gear swap. I doubt ill want any more top end at 44, and removing the govenor wont make it accellerate any faster.
Did I mention that it's done?

No one is spared from car damage, over 10 shattered winshield shattered reporter by friends already. I have over 16 small dings, didnt had serious damage at least.
We had a '92 trooper that got caught in a serious hailstorm. Looked like a giant green golfball after that. Ended up selling it to someone who wanted to for farm work because it still ran like a champ.
Anyone know of a place I can find a used 12volt motor anywhere? I'm thinking of ways to get my minibike to charge a battery. Adding a coil isn't possible because none of the Honda clone flywheels with magnets on them will fit the predator taper. The next best thing I can come up with is to get a longer jackshaft and run a motor as a generator off of another sprocket.
[editline]27th July 2016[/editline]
I'm thinking an old trash trolling motor or water pump.
What do yall think are my best options for a transmission? The car I need it for is a 95 Cadillac Deville, I'm thinking maybe go junk yarding or have the old one rebuilt? Anyone have any knowledge on costs or anything that might help me?
Buy a different used car
I'm thinking you'll want a AC motor and rectify that, since DC generators are inefficient, and their voltage will depend on RPM.

I have an SUV that I recently picked up and I'm finishing up the catalytic converter and new muffler on that but I have dropped A LOT of money, tears and blood into the Cad' and Id kinda like to keep it around a bit longer. She's not super fast or brand new off the lot but that beast has been by my side for years now.
Also once I'm back in town I want to share some stuff with you guys about the 240D limo me and a buddy have been very slowly making progress on.

Thanks, by the way that's stainless steel.
Any tips for getting the material clean? Would an angle grinder be good enough? Or should I also hit it with acetone?

I guess what it's going to come down to is how deep your wallet runs for sentimental value. I've put a lot of time, money, and swear jar money into my Blazer but I'm fully prepared to walk away when something of that scale happens.

s5 active usually fetches a premium, get an s5 with lifeproof, your life will be much better and your phone will be stronger
Got to nerd out with a customer today who is a car guy. His softener was in his garage with his 67 Vette and his 68 GTO which were both immaculate. He was telling me about how both of those cars (his two prides) were built for racing and how he put a .65 OD 5-speed in his GTO and was getting 23 mpg on his last cruise down to Myrtle vs. 8 with the stock 4.
Cool guy. Not a whole lot of our customers are car guys and really take the time to chat and really know what they're talking about with us.
just finished swapping the gears on the minibike and holy fuck #1, this thing is fast. Holy fuck #2, Im definitely gonna go through $20 clutches like motor trend youtube shows go through cheap royalty free classic rock ripoffs.
if all goes well in 30 days I'll be 18 cars richer. somebody's been parking junk on my property in ocean springs. not much I care for out of the lot, mostly imports and broken shit, but there's a really clean 1995-ish F250 long bed single cab that I'm excited for. I was able to fire the thing up no problem, but it needs a driveshaft. how it got there without one god knows. there's a lincoln town car too which is ok I guess, and a charger r/t that's making a bunch of power but is ultimately kinda lame.
more excited about the fact that I'll be able to sell most of that junk without having to pay a dime for any of it
