I'm going to California for work next Sunday, I'll be there for a month. One group of co workers are already there and going to meet me at the airport. In two weeks they all leave and I stay for another two weeks. The guy with the rental car will leave that Saturday, then another group will show up on Sunday. Because I'm 24 my company won't rent me a car. Even though I turn 25 the next day. So I'll be stuck at my hotel for 24 hours on my only day off. They are putting me up in a $150 a night hotel, but won't rent me a car. :v:
I woke up to see a passive aggressive note stuck to my windshield today. [t]http://i.imgur.com/oeRqTEm.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/tNkYqbd.jpg[/t] I was parked from Wednesday to Friday lmao and LADOT says I'm allowed to park for 72 hours in the same spot. :v: Now mind you, this person parks her new Mercedes on the street when she has a 2 car garage full of shit, and a 2 car driveway. I just parked there because I don't need to drive daily and there's no sprinklers on that side.
leave a return note about how terrible her handwriting is
2.4L diesel swap is bulletproof, as long as you remembered to vent the goddamn coolant system properly. Seriously that's a good chunk of the overheating problems people have with those, it is a bit tricky to vent properly. If we're talking T3's Keep in mind the factory fitted & easily retrofittable 4 cylinder turbodiesels for those are notoriously shitty, since the turbo is too close to cylinder 4 with stock exhaust manifold (that is the only one that seems to work with the engines due to space constraints) and at some point ends up warping the alu head when you're beating the shit out of the engine on a highway. The 2.4L Diesel swap requires some Audi 100 parts and some South Africa specific T3 parts, (and a donor T4 Transporter/Caravalle for the engine), but is overall bulletproof. T4 Transporters & Caravelles may rust away, but the 5 cylinder engines pretty much last forever.
T4s are rare in the states though. And a Diesel T4? hah! the 5 cyls are bulletpoof though. Source: Regularly beat the shit out of our 18 y/o 5 cyl.

Source: Regularly beat the shit out of our 18 y/o 5 cyl.
I do know the T4's were actually sold as diesels over there, but they probably only started with the TDI's and thay are probably also a bit rare, buuut if the ECU is reflashable and they can get their hands on the manifolds from a 2.4L N/A diesel, then it's mostly a matter of wiring spaghetti and a reflash to turn it into a 2.5L SDI. Don't swap a "vanilla" 2.5L TDI into a T3 with stickshift gearbox though, they can't handle that much torque. Your options are either automatic with transmission cooler or a longitudinal gearbox flipped upside-down from a fwd Audi or VW Passat (and Skoda Superb in Europe) But as per usual, more fabrication required with non-standard parts.

Why does she write her Ds as |)?
I saw a Messerschmitt three wheeler on a car hauler with a Hudson Hornet today, made my day
Went to an amateur car show tonight while at work. Other than the dirty looks I got from everyone, I'd say the car show was weak for its first meet. Wide variety of vehicles, but nothing that stood out to me
Did you take the mustang or Z?
I roll up to car shows in my car and some people look at me for a brief moment and then completely ignore me since most of the cars in our area that show up are old, and I mean.. OLD. A lot of the muscle car gang get overlooked since we have a large number of '30s Fords and even two (that I know of) '30s Morgans. So many of them even forgo the ratrod/hotrod builds and just restore the vehicles and they come out magnificently beautiful.
Impreza is back up and running. Thanks to my camera, I had a check in my hand before the accident report was even released. I was handed a check for ~$1187USD. Plenty to cover the work, since i do it myself and have connections. They covered everything, including an alignment, labor to remove + reinstall my fog guard, etc. So I am not only fixing the damage done by her, I replaced the sway bar end links, plan to replace the other fender, and other misc work to get it in better shape. The other day while driving the Jeep, a brake line ruptured in traffic. It was a joy limping it through rush hour traffic to where I could pull over and get a tow.

Most people I know would've panicked, I just engine braked for the last 5KM home since there was zero traffic.
Got the repair estimate for the NSX, $2700! I just finished up work for the day.. now I have 2 weeks of vacation. Well needed.. hoping to chill and "do me", and dip the green Eclipse. Last night I found a naughty thing, though. https://wausau.craigslist.org/cto/5715181907.html I really wanted to go look at it today.. but he's still "shopping for body shop quotes" on it, so he's not even sure if he wants to sell it?!?! I don't get it, but he said he'll probably know Tuesday, so if all goes right I really want to go check that out. I'm all about a little project, depending on exactly what kind of frame damage I'll see in person. If it's just a twisted core support, game on. Always wanted a Porsche, even if it IS a ladie's car, LOL.
Went up to visit my parents today. Found out they were given a mini buggie, baja dune 150, for free. Its in pretty bad shape and don't want to put money into it so now it's mine. its only a 150, but I can't complain about a free one. Looking over it and looking up parts, looks to be about 500 worth of parts that need replaced, plus some area are going to need new steel welded.

It went from stopping smoothly, to 'fucking stop you piece of shit' with my foot to the floor pretty fast. Rest of the drive wasn't bad, it just took applying the brakes nearly to the floor to get any brakes at all. It was bumper to bumper, 35mph traffic.
I put a straightpipe on my minibike, its got a pretty nice tone to it now. A deer could really fuck up a Porsche but that one got away with just a crumpled hood and a repairable bumper as far as body damage goes.
Yessss and that's why I'm hot on its tail! I hope it's not one of those stupid Craigslist things that fizzles into nothing. The last Eclipse we were going to go look at turned into a "yea... we decided to just keep it" the morning of the day we were set to go check it out. Wishy washies. The one thing I do think is going in my favor is that if he's shopping for bodyshop quotes on that.. they're probably going to be just about the worth of the vehicle (which is probably about 10k-11k). Hopefully that'll be enough to convince him to go through with letting me buy it :)
That's a killer deal honestly. A deer could really fuck up a Porsche but that one got away with just a crumpled hood and a repairable bumper as far as body damage goes.
Probably some damage to where the hood is hinged and locked in place, but not unbearable damage.
Damn Camaro is fucking cursed. There's an event going on today in my town so I thought I'd give 'er one last wash and take it for one last cruise before I sell it. Cruising just fine for about a half hour and saw some cool cars and choppers, I even got a thumbs up from an older guy in a Mach 1 :excited: But then I decided to pull into a gas station to get a drink before I head home and lo and behold as soon as I pull into a spot, the top radiator hose gets a pinhole sized leak in it. Bastard. Let it cool down so it quit pissing, and luckily I had a rag and some metal duct tape handy in the car to fix it. Drove it home just fine and it still hasn't leaked :v: When I was washing it I was really questioning if I wanted to sell it. Now I do. Damn cursed bastard.
I have to say the marketers at Dodge definitely know what they're doing.
I was really worried that Fiat's takeover of Chrysler was gonna fuck with Dodge's image. I'm glad it hasn't.
Tomorrow I go look at the Dart. I'm hoping most of the rust in on the outside, and not hidden in Floorplans and the like.
Rust holes in floor pans = aftermarket air conditioning
Okay, so the idle stumble is still there on my Impreza. New developement; I noticed that sometimes, i can make it do it by using my brakes while stopped. My first thought was vacuum leak, but 10 minutes later, i couldn't get it to do it. Next thought; clogged IACV not opening to increase boost? I feel if it were a brake booster or vacuum leak, it would be all the time. Buy a IACV sticking could be part of the time.
Tomorrow I go look at the Dart. I'm hoping most of the rust in on the outside, and not hidden in Floorplans and the like.
floor pans are easy to fix at least
Tomorrow I go look at the Dart. I'm hoping most of the rust in on the outside, and not hidden in Floorplans and the like.
I did the floors in my dart so I can show you how to do then/walk you through. Its really easy! And @clutch, $2700 seems kinda run of the mill for a bumper repair? You gotta consider the bumper itself is $1000, then paint is $150+. Taking off the old bumper, sanding and painting the new one, and then putting it on properly is probably 5-10 hours @$120/H. Are you positive you're getting an OEM bumper and a quality shop to do it? Chances are you're getting a shitty aftermarket bumper because an OEM one is $1200: http://parts.sonsacura.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=269463&ukey_make=987&ukey_model=13643&ukey_category=19651 I dont know if it bothers you, but when you get insurance they have to replace/fix/pay equal or greater than it was before and any less is jipping you. I remember that car as unbelievably clean, so you may as well bargain to get it done the best possible way. Dont be scared to challenge an insurance companies decision, they're looking out for themselves first and formost.
floor pans are easy to fix at least
I just meant that I really just want the rust to be on surface stuff, none of the hidden shit. Although with a car in the age and condition I can't be to picky.
