I just meant that I really just want the rust to be on surface stuff, none of the hidden shit. Although with a car in the age and condition I can't be to picky.
Knowing Ohio that hidden rust is probably the only thing actually holding the car together.
I did the floors in my dart so I can show you how to do then/walk you through. Its really easy! And @clutch, $2700 seems kinda run of the mill for a bumper repair? You gotta consider the bumper itself is $1000, then paint is $150+. Taking off the old bumper, sanding and painting the new one, and then putting it on properly is probably 5-10 hours @$120/H. Are you positive you're getting an OEM bumper and a quality shop to do it? Chances are you're getting a shitty aftermarket bumper because an OEM one is $1200: http://parts.sonsacura.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=269463&ukey_make=987&ukey_model=13643&ukey_category=19651 I dont know if it bothers you, but when you get insurance they have to replace/fix/pay equal or greater than it was before and any less is jipping you. I remember that car as unbelievably clean, so you may as well bargain to get it done the best possible way. Dont be scared to challenge an insurance companies decision, they're looking out for themselves first and formost.
I don't remember how many hours they paid for, but Allstate quoted my bodywork at $44 an hour. I thought it was pretty high to be honest.
I have to say the marketers at Dodge definitely know what they're doing.
"People with Gluten intolerance, political aspirations, or lack of self-control should use caution when operating Dodge." Cube, they just called you on your shit.

So me and my pops went to go check out the Dart today. I fell in love, but the car does have it's problems. There is (obviously) a shit ton of rust. The whole roof has surface rust. The big thing is it'll need a new trunk floor pan, and the rear wheel wells and general area are rusted to shit. Underneath there really isn't much rust, as it looks like it's been coated before. The car has no exhaust, so it's loud as fuck (but sounds oh so sweet), and there's no stereo or heat. While my dad was leery about all that. I didn't give a fuck, I like that look. But something in the engine was just leaking oil like a sieve. That's what stopped me from making an offer. If the seller finds what's leaking and fixes it, then I'll most likely take it off his hands. But until then I guess I'll keep looking. Me and my dad are planning on going to the Mopar Nationals next weekend, so we'll check out the car corral there. [editline]7th August 2016[/editline] Also what the fuck is up with the price discrepancies between Summit and other places for a complete exhaust system.

The only places the small block in that dart can leak oil from are the pan gasket, and timing chain cover. If its towards the back it'll be the rear main seal. If its leaking as bad as you said, then its probably not the valve cover gaskets because then it'd be a smokeshow. I wouldn't totally walk from the car on account of the leak, the engne is caveman simple and stone common so you'd be lookingat $30 in gaskets to reseal the whole thing

I'm sure if I asked I could get the seller to fix it for me. Also, what did you do for the exhaust on your Dart? Any brand to recommend or stay away from?
Quick car paint question: If I'm planning out a custom paint graphic, can I use a small sharpie to dot outline the shape I need to lay the tape? Will these sharpie dots screw with the paint when I paint over it?

My cousin has a 1973 360 Dart and hes running dual flowmaster 40s with full 2.5" exhaust and its sounds pretty good! If you want a cleaner sound, then magnaflows are a good muffler to run. You may have to get a local exhaust shop to build something for you, 2.5" should be fun unless you build the motor up then opt for full 3" for a deeper sound

Only good if you're practiced up on it usually. Another options is to mask an entire area, draw on it, then run the razor along that line and weed out the un-needed masking area. Wastes a lot of tape. You can also get your image on a transparency and use and overheard projector, or just a normal projector, either or. Basically project it on and trace. And then there's also the option of having the exact graphic shape you need cut in vinyl (low adhesion masking vinyl) and apply, then no cutting is necessary. Good for letters and stuff.
Spent 5hr's attempting to get this whore running, did a lot of nigger rigging but she runs. Just gotta pick up another plug wire set, figure out why the trans ain't chooching and rebuild the breaks. On top of a complete rewire. Should be fun! [editline]fgfn[/editline] Funny thing is we never touched the carb. It somehow sat for ~2 years and instantly picked up gas and ran! But everything ignition was fucked so was coolant system. ALSO FUCKING 4K MAN LOOK AT THAT SHIT. JUST LOOK AT IT.
That's a pretty good arc you got there from the coil.
I'm preparing to move and am selling my car. I'm having trouble figuring out what it's worth. KBB says $~14,000, my mechanic says $5,000. I'd say its somewhere in the middle but I'm not too sure. It's a 2005 LX470 with 228,xxx miles. The only things that don't work are the CD player is iffy and the headrest TVs stopped working in like 2007 (lol). It's relatively rust free, save for a couple tiny spots but there are a lot of areas that need touch up paint or the clearcoat is lightly scratched. Recently replaced the front sway bar struts and it has new Hankook Dynapro HP2 A/S tires with less than 1000 miles on them. It also received a numerous number of repairs about a year ago, including the rear diff case, P/S pump, water pump, timing belt, and a couple other things. I'd say $10,000 easily because land cruiser tax but honestly im not sure. Anyone have any input? I'll try to get some pictures later.
Welp, half my primer came up off the hood when wiping it. Maybe I shouldn't have waited a year to paint it :^)
TBH, I'd say $5000 to $7000 (If that). 228K miles is a lot. Especially in 11-12 years. That's atleast 20K miles a year, which isn't a lot if you commute an hour or so to work. Does any one have any ideas on what I should call my YouTube channel? It's nothing but videos on Mopars and that's kind of all I plan on showing on it. I'm trying to think of a name to call it that sounds good but also doesn't straight up include "Mopar" in the name, for copyright reasons. I can't think of anything.

Also my mom expressed some concern with how the LX470 sounds on startup, saying it "roars" too much. I don't think there is anything wrong with the exhaust besides some rusted heat shields having been removed. I had it up in the air a couple months ago and it was fine. I am guessing it's just because it's an old V8. Probably runs it rich for a few seconds to get it up to temp faster maybe.
running rich keeps the temps down, not heats it up
Plastidipping a car because it's easy ---> taking off all the stuff you'd do to paint in normally so you can spray the door jambs :v: Mixing up the orange pearl coat. This started with orange base, then orange pearl, then gold ice pearl, and on the exterior it'll have the Autoflex Gloss coat, so it'll (hopefully) shine like normal paint! It hate, hate, hates wax and grease remover like I use when final prepping a car for paint, it fisheyed horribly in some spots, but that's why the door jambs were a good place to start. Soap and water it is. I can't wait to see this combo under clear coat.. it should be nuts.

I found a lovely little Miata at my local Jeep dealer and I wanted it so badly. It was ~$8,000. Unfortunately I had to pass it up for something with large carrying capacity because I need to move all my stuff to my dorm.
Depends on the state. But in general, 25-30 seems to be the average. No idea why New Hampshire is 26 years, it's a weird odd number.

Holy shit. I texted my brother yesterday that the radiator hose failed on the Camaro, and today he came over while I was sleeping and put a new one on for me! Brothers are the best, man.
