[QUOTE=Grenadiac;50970459]Honestly I can't believe it's legal, they could easily consider it obscuring vision or something[/QUOTE] Oregon has a visible emissions law, it's entirely just used against shitty worn out Civics and any sort of tuned import which blow rich black smoke. Cops are usually brotruck fags around here.
On a happier note.. I got to ride my friend's Puch around a little yesterday, it was neat! Okay. While getting "rolled on" sucks, its a whole different feeling when you've the one dishin' out. I used to hate on people who did it, but after getting a taste myself I can see why they do it so much. I especially love it when you get some guy riding your ass, just dump a good cloud and they fuck off quick. There should be an unwritten rule though, basically the only people you can roll on are teens, chicks, tailgaters, and friends. Anybody else just doesn't deserve it. Recenty diesel communities have been making a big push to condemn blacking out intersections and generally being a douche, the one I'm apart of especially. The general stigma is its okay to do it in private, but when its 24/7 every street light you can fuck off. Makes everyone look bad. [editline]29th August 2016[/editline] On another note I snagged a set of traction bars for my truck [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps6ixahadf.jpeg[/thumb] And ohhhhh man they're PIMP!! Paid $500, and brand new they're $1230 USD (so like 6 trillion dollars canadian) Also scored an aluminum shaft for $150, it has a dent in it so I'm hoping it checks out A-ok, otherwise I'm looking at $700+ for a new one :/ [editline]29th August 2016[/editline] I think my junk yard is soft on me...
Oh almost forgot, got a new battery. Yesterday my nEverstart decided not to start for the first time in 6 years. Reset my radio, clock, ecu and all that. Turns out the voltage drops I've had for like 3 years were entirely because my battery was shit as they don't seem to really happen anymore. Car even feels a little better. I imagine that probably had to do with my just less than perfect idle. Painted my battery tray too, used a can of paint I bought because it was the first time I had ever seen my color in/on anything. Turned out half way decent, but I'm not cut out for this rust stuff. First time I've ever mess with anything even minorly rusty. Tried to wire brush it out for like 10 minutes and hardly made a dent. Gave up and figured it's better than it was. Doubt you could fit it in a freezer anyways and you'd have to be careful not to split it.
[QUOTE=Valon Kyre;50970942]The newer diesels (2003+) shouldn't smoke, proper tuning with the modern injection pumps/computers and having a vast array of sensors to get info from makes it easy to make a damn near smoke free tune. Anything older than that, like my 12 valve, you just cant help without extensive trial and error that would be a solid weekend of trying dofferent things. I've got mine detuned pretty well, but under WOT when it lights the turbo it'll leave a good sized cloud. Once I get my compound turbos on it should clear that up. [editline]29th August 2016[/editline] I'll write into the subject more when I'm home.[/QUOTE] My good ol naturally aspirated IDI only makes a thin trail of smoke when i take it into the mountains hauling a trailer and truck camper up a hill. Sure, i could crank up the fuel screw and turn it into a mosqusito fogger, but my mileage is garbage enough as it is, and i dont feel like installing a pyrometer.

I'd wager you could get 30-50 more hp and still have it run exactly the same if you tweaked the injection timing and fueling. Unless the idi doesn't have that much for adjustability And @slayer I'm not sure if I'd try that unless I knew what i was doing, maybe as a last ditch?? My buddy works at a bar so they have a large walk in freezer I could probably borrow haha I could try with my totally fucked drivershaft for fun

Couldn't hurt to try. I know thin pipe can split/crack, have no idea what a fairly beefy driveline would do under the crazy pressure ice can apply in unintended ways though.

Unloaded, it takes flooring it to get a thin trail. I can get a decent bit more climbing on ramps. IMO, until i do exhaust, manifold swap, etc. The power gain won't be enough from turning it up. As is, the truck is pretty powerful.
whenever I finally build the lifted diesel rolls royce I've been talking about for like 2 years it's gonna roll enough coal to give the whole town black lung but I aint gonna do it just to random people on the street
[QUOTE=Grenadiac;50970459]Honestly I can't believe it's legal, they could easily consider it obscuring vision or something[/QUOTE] It's not legal. It's in violation of federal emissions standards, the same as cutting off a catalytic converter.
I'd rather install a water+methanol injection kit to reduce EGT and cylinder temperature instead of going full retard on the fuel map. That's the epitome of half-assing in this day & age. Gahhh, got my first ever pull over and pink slip today! 49mph in a 30mph is what I'm cited for. $124 to pay if I don't fight it.....I certainly wasn't out of control and didn't even really intend to go that fast. It was going down a hill, so I should have kept in 3rd I guess. Cop was going opposite direction and abruptly pulled a U'ey. Was so surprising since I've basically always flown under the radar. Doesn't help it's the 2nd to last day of the month. Any advice? I imagine I don't have overwhelming evidence to fight with on my side, and I imagine court will point blank ask me "Do you know how fast you were going?", which would probably be hard to try and stretch to a lower speed. One thing I read a while back is to try and keep delaying a court date? And that after enough time, things may be dismissed due to lack of memory from the officer and other shit. [editline]30th August 2016[/editline] On the plus side I go a good alignment on the Miata and damn it feels noticeably better in the corners, even at low speeds.
Advice: pay it. You will get zero sympathy from the court going that fast in a 30

I have to pay a sum of about 900usd because I forgot to extend the suspension of my vehicle. (suspended meaning it's not on the road so you're not required to insure/pay tax/have it checked) [editline]30th August 2016[/editline] And, forgot as in : They send a letter some time before it expires. (I didn't get the letter) I mean sure, it's my responsibility, I am indeed at fault for forgetting this. However does the punishment fit the "crime"? Not really. I'm actually better off robbing someone at an ATM to pay for my fines and do some community service for my "bad behaviour" /rant
Yeah, I remember your posts about that bullshit! Really baffling man! I mean, I will say I thought it would at lest be under $100 for the fine, but even then, I have kind of brushed it off. Could have been much worse, and the stop was really low pressure. Didn't try to wiggle my way out of it and keep talking crap. I'm really just trying to get over the surprise. I mean I was a typical idiot when I first started driving, and yet, it was only today that I actually see consequences. Roughly 5 years of zero-issue driving, but I guess statistically they catch up with nearly everyone at some point.

[QUOTE=Code3Response;50974370]Advice: pay it. You will get zero sympathy from the court going that fast in a 30[/QUOTE] You can usually get it reduced by going to your court date. Especially if its your first fine. [editline]30th August 2016[/editline] I had my ticket deffered so after a year of no tickets its completely clear from my record
It is my first time, so record-wise that is a plus. I realize my speeding gets no sympathy regardless of the circumstances, but as a generally good driver I want to believe there is [I]some[/I] room for negotiation. Perhaps if I attempt to meet face to face with the cop, maybe offer alternative punishments? Or at least explain to him I'm a student also working part time, and while my finances are under control, [del]I need money for parts and autoX/trackdays[/del] every dollar counts. I'd be down for community service if need be. Also, again, I'm reading if you go to court and an officer doesn't appear, it gets dismissed?

You were going 50 in a 30. You can contest the ticket and be in the hands of the judge or you pay it, accept your mistake and move on. Dont bank on the cop not showing up. They get paid for it. They get an email reminding them about it.
It REALLY just depends on your area whether they're likely to show up or not. I've lived in some places where they almost never did, so you show up and it's dropped. I've also lived in areas where they will show up every single time.
[QUOTE=Grenadiac;50970459]Honestly I can't believe it's legal, they could easily consider it obscuring vision or something[/QUOTE] Depending on your area, and how pissy your Sheriff is: it isn't. It can be construed as assault if it gets within your driving compartment thanks to it being a foreign substance to your vehicle propelled by another individuals. Unless you have an inbred hick sheriff who finds it funny to be a truck ricer. Anyways.

If you so much as step foot in the court, it's going to be $300+ by the time you leave, assuming your record is spotless. Mine was 61 in a 45 IIRC. Reduced to an improper equipment charge, which was barely anything, but the court fees made it over $300.
Should I be irked my alignment guys didn't get my camber in the rear exactly the same? -1.9 L -1.5 R, when I asked for -1.7. Certainly within range, feels great, should feel greater autocrossing. But not specifically the setting I asked for. Fronts are also like .1-.2 off as well, but every other setting, caster, toe, they got spot on. For $79, I feel they are a good alignment value, as well as fairly competent. I also keep forgetting to ask to sit in the car, people say your weight affects these things enough that when you get it the settings alter? Well. I have to sell the Charger. I don't want to deal with the maintenance from the collision any more. What do you guys think of the ad? [URL]http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5758850677.html[/URL] Anything I should add to it?
Looks good shame you gotta sell it
Man, the whole situation sucks. I took it for one last spin around town. God, I love the sound of the HEMI. Nothing beats practicality and horsepower.

That's how my Impreza is. I wanted 0 camber, lowest I could go was 0.5. In that case; you essentially have two options. 1. Pay it off. Cheaper, but more points on your license. Stuck with speeding charge on record. 2. Trial. Much more expensive. I never saw a court room, yet mine was $300+ for a similar infraction. If you win, it will be lowered. You will recieve no points, however you generally are on probation for 2 years. It all depends on how much money you have, and how good of a driver you are. If you do a trial, probation means that committing a similar infraction will bring back the first one.
