You have to insure a car thats not driven on the road? That's fucking stupid
No, but you need to have it suspended. Once it's not the system sees it and right away sends you a big fucking fine.
Let me know what it costs you to have the motor rebuilt, id really like it if my dune buggy worked.
they're relatively cheap to have rebuilt last I checked it was anywhere between 800 and 1500 depending on what needs to be done but

Well shit. Pulling into the parking lot at work this morning, I blew an exhaust gasket. I knew one of my manifolds was a little leaky, but didn't expect it to pop. I was worried I blew out a spark plug at first but all my spark plugs are still intact. Guess I got something to so this weekend. Hopefully it doesn't rain...too much.

Got me for a second.. Mounts like that must be a godsend.
Got me for a second.. Mounts like that must be a godsend.
Rotisseries are a dream tool of mine... In sports news, I picked out a paint color for the new slant, and all of its goodies and ordered them, got my new exhaust header flanges and T3 flange in the mail a bit ago, and just now placed an order through summit for about $130 worth of pipes and collectors to build the header. It's ideally going to wrap down at each port in a sloping 90, then 45 on each forward. The back three cylinders will have 3x 1.5" pipes collecting in a hooker header 3/1 and transferring to 2.5". The front three will do the same, then project forward under the intake with 2x 2 1/2" pipe, to a sloping 90 to above the intake with the turbo mounted right up top above the water pump. The hood is getting cut to accomplish this, then a small scoop made to compensate for the hole. The downpipe will shoot back across the top of the intake manifold and then down the back of the engine and out. A heat shield will seperate the intake and carburetor from the downpipe. I feel it can't be any worse as far as heat - compared to stock where the intake and exhaust were mated right below the carburetor.
dispute the hell out of that bullshit
Its probably more likely that he didnt read the fine print which said they're issued on a yearly basis or similar [editline]14th February 2016[/editline] But I dont know for sure since I live in a state which requires all vehicles to have insurance if they are to be driven on public roads (no such thing as suspended insurance)

Here insurance makes sense if its on the road it needs to be insured. If its parked or never sees public roads it doesnt need to be insured or hell even registered in some cases.
Let me know what it costs you to have the motor rebuilt, id really like it if my dune buggy worked.
Rebuild kits are 500$ man. Heads are 200$ but you normally can reuse your old ones sometimes. If you have it rebuilt its normally 1k-1,8k.
Can anyone name the rims on this NSX? Pretty awesome looking but I can't figure out what they are.
it's really hard to tell since the wheel is so tiny in the video and it's never shown up close but I think maybe oz superleggeras? [editline]15th February 2016[/editline] ok no it wasn't showing a thumbnail before those definitely aren't superleggeras. you might be able to find them if you just do a search for 14 spokes that come in a 5x114.3 bolt pattern
It's not really shitting on preferences, mostly pointing out facts. Camber and stretched tires reduce the performance of a street driven automobile. If you cause a wreck due to your camber and tire stretch, I would expect whomever you hit to be pissed and I would not expect your insurance to cover the damage you caused.
Lol, the wreck isn't caused by the fitment, aliment, or suspension, but by the driver's incompetence. It's ridiculous, not even a few posts back a dude just posted some cars and coffee pics and the first image is of a slammed/stanced FD RX7. Y'all got some major double standards. You guys just love to jump all over the guys having a little fun with their cars, it's their money, their car, and statistically speaking the crash to modification ratio is just as high as people driving econoboxes and Priuses. I've never once been to an accident where an opposing party said, "OH YEAH HIS CAMBER AMD RIDE HEIGHT IS WHY HE SMASHED INTO ME". I drove a slammed Z3 with 2 degrees of negative camber and never once felt uncomfortable or lost control. It's a stupid argument people present with little to no actual experience behind the wheel that have the suspension configured that way. I really have a hard time believing that the people hating on it aren't just frustrated that they don't have the money to do something nice to their own cars, or are creating a biased opinion based upon fartcan civics riding on RaceLands. It just goes to show how ignorant people are.
Nope it blew the spark plug out. Fuck me.
time for keenserts then
The threads still look good surprisingly, but I can't be certain till I can get a socket on the plug to put it back in.

The less contact patch from camber, the stiffer springs to get a lower ride without bottoming out, the worse that car will perform as a daily driver. You can call it driver incompetence for sure, it's lowering car performance in the name of looks. I don't mind people doing it, so long as they aren't ricing around causing issues. Usually it is the cambered, stretched, fart canned cars that rice around, zip through traffic, and cause issues in this area. Civics, S2000's, Miata's, etc. When they do hit someone, yes, it is worse, and I have seen it first hand. The slammed car hit the bottom of my Impreza's crash beam, making 25% of my beam absorb a hit rather than all of it. Personally, I have the money to do the mods I want to do. However, I wouldn't rice out any of my vehicles with camber, lowering kits, stretching tires, or any of that.
Just got a new exhaust.
More white shit today. Really dry, powdery, slippery snow followed by .25 to .5" of freezing rain on top. Got 9.5" before it sleeted for about half an hour and dropped it down to 9". Had to help some Carolla on rain tires leave the gas station today with a cop. I was slipping and sliding all over the place today trying to get home from where the snow isn't being scraped real real well this go around. e: [t]http://i.imgur.com/s35YTTC.jpg[/t]
Hey guys, wanna see something terrible? Good. I'm gonna switch this out: [t]http://puu.sh/n97nj.jpg[/t] With this: [t]http://puu.sh/n97oy.jpg[/t]
Ah yes some E30 love
I got the other end link installed today, it only took about 30 minutes including a test drive. Finally no more clunking coming from the rear end! I found a junk yard parting out a car with my engine last week, asked them about the stock exhaust manifold. They wanted $500 for it, no thank you! Found one last night on eBay for $255, so that should be here in a week or two. Then I'll just need to get the heat shields, which I might be able to get from that same junkyard for a decent price. At that point the car would be almost entirely stock again. Just after market shifter bushings (due to the nature of the install, those won't be coming off) and the HID headlights. I'll wait until I'm ready to trade in the car to pull them, as they are so much brighter than the standard bulbs.

Is winter in the US a thing that happens just once every ten years or something? I keep hearing that it's not common and it's usually never that cold, but it seems like this is something that happens once every year, and people are still somehow allowed to drive with summer tires during snow. [editline]16th February 2016[/editline] I don't mean to be an ass towards you, it just seems odd that this is a problem.
but it seems like this is something that happens once every year, and people are still somehow allowed to drive with summer tires during snow.
You answered your own question. Theres no regulation on what tires you can drive on (besides slicks and studded)
slicks and studded are bueno here in mississippi. I've driven very cautiously on snow with slicks before
