Well, my crown vic went and did a really crown vic thing to do. Leaked coolant into plug wells 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8, and shorted out all the coils. Coil 2 still kinda worked but was on its way out. Im actually kinda surprised it was running and driving functionally on 3.5/8 cylinders. I havent found the leak yet, as its been sitting a week and the intake/heads were dry. I did notice that a hose clamp broke on one of the heater core lines, so Im hoping its that and not the dreaded cracked intake manifold. The cars not gonna move until I rebuild the floorpan, so I got some time to shop around on a whole new set of aftermarket coils that wont explode on their own without anything else going wrong.
Replacing the intake isn't actually all that bad, I did it in like 2-3 hours after watching a YouTube video :v: Another Ford Racing intake is ~$275
Remember that 100 dollar XJ12 i found for parts the other day? During emails the guy's all chummy and "yeah this could totally be a project car, just don't expect the engine to turn over ever again" and such. The second i say "hey if you're able to sign off on it can i come over this weekend to pick it up?" the line goes dead. So yeah, maybe it really was stolen. Fuck
Those darn deals always too good it seems like. The DSM retrieval is all part of the 'fun'. :v:
That's cute. Is winter in the US a thing that happens just once every ten years or something? I keep hearing that it's not common and it's usually never that cold, but it seems like this is something that happens once every year, and people are still somehow allowed to drive with summer tires during snow. [editline]16th February 2016[/editline] I don't mean to be an ass towards you, it just seems odd that this is a problem.
Be an ass towards me or not; I don't care. I drove around no problem and had fun in the weather because I can drive in it. As for the rarity: Yeah. I live in the south where the average winter temperatures is 35°F in January with an average precipitation of 2" for the same month (of rain, about two feet of snow, but it never falls as snow). You forget the fact that 3/4 of the east coast on the U.S. is a subtropical region, not an arctic region where we don't snow when it does freeze in the winter time. We get .25" to .75" of ice routinely which no matter how great you are, many can't drive on without having studded tires - which are illegal in Virginia to drive on.

Saw my first split-windshield kombi up close! [t]http://i.imgur.com/cMDwQ9G.jpg[/t] It was lowered and looked so bunky and menacing. argh so good. He was following a really nice hot rod too, a '32 ford according to the plate.
I've got a wiring question. My truck has a 100 amp alternator, and two big batteries under the hood. I want to put a deep cycle battery in the bed camper and run a wire down the frame so I can charge the camper battery while the truck is running. I'll put it on a relay controled by either a toggle switch or the key being on. Anyways, say I run the camper battery down do 30% or so, i need to know how many amps would it draw while charging so I know what gauge wire and relay to get. Additionally, if I happened to use the existing 20 amp fused write to charge it, would it only charge at 20 amps, or could the battery try to pull more and blow the fuse?
Someone with a heart and soul please go save this poor poor vehicle. https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/5400224189.html
wow fuck i lowkey would buy that if i lived there

So long as those 2 are not run down to 50% or below that alt likely wont see use at full amp output, but this also depends on how much has to be run in the truck to begin with, things like fans, headlights and other accessorys tend to boost this usage. I'd say so long as all the wiring is capable of handling up 120 amps or more itself plus the fuse at 100 amp, your only real key advise would be to NOT run anything in the camper while charging the battery and DO NOT forget to disable the cabling charging the camper battery after the truck is off and before anything in the camper is used so as to not cause undue drain on the trucks batterys. Your other option is to add a second alternator to the truck and dedicate it to charging other batterys, thereby reliving the trucks own alt of extra work.
Well, its a new alternator, and the only draw it actually has is charging up whatever the batteries lost from cranking and glow plugs, then lights and stuff, so it's not really under that much load. The truck wiring between the truck batteries and alternator are plenty hefty, so I'm really just wondering about the wire from the truck circuit to the camper battery, would the camper battery charge at the speed of whatever the wire can provide, or would it draw too much and blow the fuse? [editline]17th February 2016[/editline] And the only draw in the camper is from 3 led light fixtures, a fan in the summer, and occasionally the water pump, and maybe a small stereo in the future, so not much draw there either.
So i went to another workshop asking about how much they would charge for changing the intercooler and guess what, they only asked for 655 SEK which is around 77 US Dollarz.
your alternator doesn't know about wire thickness, it'll burn you wires and fuses right over if it's not big enough.
Hey guys! I just finished editing a short teaser for my upcoming documentary about the drift team, that I spent last season filming. It's a very slow process unfortunately because I'm the only one working on this, so I have to do all the recording and editing, but I hope it won't be too long until it's finished. I've added English subtitles, so press CC if you don't understand the magical language of Denmark.
Gulen the Saab god, how are the 2007 and newer 9-3 Aeros on reliability? I'm looking at cars like this: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/5428733043.html Or should I say fuck new cars and replace my Benz with this?: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/5431738038.html annnd fuck now all those Saabs are under recall: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/gm-recalls-200000-cars-for-takata-air-bag-trouble/ar-BBpzql0?ocid=spartanntp
I only have experience with my dad's 9-3s, and both of those were diesels, but the Aero V6 is used in the Buick Regal, and it's a turbo version of the old CTS' LP1. Otherwise the 9-3 was a wonderful car, I wish he never sold it, and I wish I could afford one.

Only thing I'd personally change would be the ending, it seemed a bit tooo... pretentious? The rest of the video seemed quite humble compared to that. Either way I'm jealous! Wish I had someone to take care of the media side of things. Do you get paid for this?

Here's the parts list I'd use; Isolator, trigger it with ignition. If you want to get really crafy you can then wire the vehicle's radio to the aux battery in the back and hook up and extra switch, etc to allow it to play with the vehicle's key off, and only drain on the aux battery, too!
I was waiting for clutch to chime in on that THE PROPER WAY. The Isolator switch is the only way to do it.

But I also told him to look for the other cars I'm considering (2012+ VW Passat 2.5 NMS, and 2006+ Mazda 6 sedans). This week, he's going to try and gauge prices on these cars and report back, then I'll make a decision on what to have him zero in on. If he comes back empty handed I'll go look at that Benz.
I figured there'd be some sort of massive relay of sorts, so I didn't mention it. Besides, clutch ALWAYS has the nitty gritty details on ANYTHING electrical in anything that has 2 or more wheels and an engine, maybe more. You do home electrical too clutch?
Ugh, so after several years of "Are you crazy? That was my first new car! I'll never sell it!" my neighbor finally put a for sale sign on his 1969 ford bronco for $15,000. Man, why you gotta tease me like this.

I was working with both hands, one touched hot and the other touched ground

Black is hot, Green is ground and White is common and ground (technically) and for 220V Red is your second 110V line when paired with the black. Outlets and switches use nickel plated screws to signal common and brass for hot. Wire gauge is all solid core and non braided for amp handling and almost everything gets wired up in parallel. That's the basic stuff. I can get a bit more in depth if anyone needs it to be.
