Welding! the only thing I am somewhat good at,what process you using?
The process I'm using is the "hold the trigger while it goes kchhchchchchchckchchchca and then see if it's stuck together - if not do more chchchckchchchchchckcha" I'm using a flux core wire welder, and it sucks because it's AC, rather than DC. There's a mod to fix it but I'm just gonna buy a different one before I waste money fixing that. So it'll tack things together then I'm gonna take it to my exhaust shop dude, and he'll weld it all for $100. Can't beat it.
Garage is nice and clean and I finally had a chance to ruin my rear bumper drilling out my license plate bolts so I could clean it and toss the new tags on it since it's been 2 years since I picked it up apparently. Cleaned the interior thoroughly too, nice and clean again. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2016-02-28%2015.58.34.jpg[/t]
This is such a nice color for a car
How much you wanna bet your fuel pumps are going out
I hate you. You were right on both vehicles.
Speaking of rusty exhausts, to my surprise, when I came back from the gym my dad had the shitbox 2001 Kia Optima jacked up, apparently working on the exhaust leak I mentioned a week or two ago to him. Exhaust is currently completely off the car, and the main problem was two completely rusted bolts just beyond the cat' assembly. He made no mention or hints of thinking of doing it, so to see him not being a lazy bum about something like that was a pleasant surprise (he tends to utilize his degree in redneck engineering most of the time). I honestly thought we'd be grouping the diagnosis/repair with the E-Vap leak the car has had for like 9-10 months, in which we would be doing the rare thing of bringing it to a garage. Probably 70-80% of all the servicing on this car has been DIY :v:. I think my dad has a weird connection with the car, since he still is motivated to keep the thing in passable, running order. I keep telling him at this point we could pick up another car for a couple thousand and probably be in twice as good condition. I am so insanely jealous of anyone who has a lift or even just a garage with walls and a roof
Garage dream: Small lift. Would make things way easier to work on.
I am so insanely jealous of anyone who has a lift or even just a garage with walls and a roof
Or a garage.
I just have an inspection pit dug near my shed and do the rest of my work either in my driveway or someone elses [editline]29th February 2016[/editline] my garage dream is a rotisserie
I have a car again! [t]http://i.imgur.com/022ofo3.jpg[/t] 5 Speed 323i Wagon, 137k, $3000. No issues besides needing some minor rust/paint repair I will do when its warm out! Also needs some DE-Rice. I drove it home 2 hours from long island to cnj.
I am so insanely jealous of anyone who has a lift or even just a garage with walls and a roof
We had plans back in December to put a lift in, being a dual purpose lift for storing the Miata and driving the Kia under it so it could be garaged, but also for obviously making life easier when servicing. But since the winter was nice, I guess the motivation died off, as we never went through, and never even fully cleared out the garage for to actually fit one in. Now every time something comes up, I tell my dad "Could really use that lift, huh?". But yeah, a garage makes a hell of a difference!
Yeah I'm just so sick of working on my car around the weather. On another note, my MR2 has developed some knock - so I found another 4AGE (and transmission, mine has the common 5th gear pop out). I guess Prime Performance over in Stanhope, NJ got it from a customer's car that they swapped a 3SGTE into, and it was running when it was taken out at 110k miles. I asked for more information but at the price they want to sell me both for, it's hard to refuse - so hopefully it works out okay this week. So, I'm going to do the timing belt before I put it into my car. Does anyone have any suggestions for what else I should do to it?
This is such a nice color for a car
It's Chianti Red Metallic, or basically Wine Red. It's a really uncommon color although I have had seen one or two in real life before. This car definitely isn't my style being hosted on CarDomain and from another era of sorts but the paint is clean as shit. It's an absolutely beautiful color and I really want to repaint it someday in the same paint or in a newer Si color. [t]http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/2235/1629/5585814034_large.jpg[/t] [editline]28th February 2016[/editline] Actually it seems like the paint on the body might be OEM on that car since the rear bumper really doesn't match, the C pillar/rear quarter panel really shows off what it should look like.
A friend of a friend just texted me, on the day I find out that Ive got a nice hefty tax refund coming, asking if I wanted to buy his goldwing. If I remember right, its a heavily beat up old blue gl1100. He said he wanted to buy a newer one and they offered him 1100 trade in value for it. No way I want to pay that much for it in its shape, but Im gonna go take a look tomorrow anyway. Im such a sucker for overpriced shit heap projects. [editline]28th February 2016[/editline] and holy shit holy shit I found one of my favorite deathtraps http://sd.craigslist.org/mcy/5437052634.html
Tax time projects.. tis the season. A friend of mine is in a similar position. He's got an '04 SRT4 5spd that he wants to ditch in favor of a truck. He recently rear ended a truck low speed and it needs a hood and bumper cover.. nothing I'm afraid of. It was a Georgia car until a a winter ago, and recently got timing belt, water pump, engine mounts.. all that normal maintenance done. 126k miles. He wants a loose $3500. Someone give me a reason not to :v:
Man 90's rams look kinda badass without the grill.
I agree! I'd say do a -1 or -2 level kit on it and add a 100HP tune or something. Make a race truck.
so apparently my lovely car now has a ghost was driving on hilly freeway, check engine light goes on, flips off, flips back on along with oil warning and battery warning and i lose power steering get over on shoulder, it doesn't want to creep when i take off the brake, turn it over a couple times, get it going again couple minutes after i get it going, check engine comes on again and i lose power steering, pull over again, get it towed to a shop, shop is like "uh we can't find anything wrong with it"
Hey Guys, I'm a amateur at the wrenching game. I bought a truck a while ago. Have been driving it daily for about 4 months. A puddle formed under the truck suddenly. It will go into drive, and struggle hard to move forward, you have to really force it. Once it's moving forward and it warms up it'll drive without an issue. Reverse works perfectly as well. I got under the car and it looks like it's leaking oil from around the torque converter. Here are some pics, Honestly all f150 forums have been trash so far.I It's a 93 F-150 4x4 with 200k miles
My transmission mastery level is not high enough to know whats wrong with that. Start by checking the trans fluid dipstic to make sure there is enough fluid for starters. Ill agree that all ford forum users are dumb as collective boxes of rocks.

Wastegate is plugged so it already pushes 30psi. I can hit 400hp really easy, 500hp takes some money and I'm just lookin' to be cheap on it.
Serious question time: Is it normal for catalytic converters to rattle when you tap on them?
no but if your car isn't throwing emissions codes then it's not cause for concern

The torque converter is leaking out all of it's fluid when you shut the engine off, and a full converter is required for an automatic to move. If the crack isn't that big, the converter will eventually fill and begin to transfer power to the transmission, which yours is doing. I would stop driving it though, you are liable to do real damage to the transmission once that trans finally runs out of fluid. This happens all the damn time when someone doesn't torque the nuts down to spec on the torque converter where the studs pass through the flexplatel. Easy fix, replace the pump seal or the cracked torque converter. Provided you didn't run it out of fluid it shouldn't need further transmission work. The hardest part of the job is dropping the y pipe, I recommend having a helping hand and removing the transmission crossmember first.. You'll need to remove driveshafts, trans crossmember, transfer case, exhaust, etc, so you can pull the transmission away from the block. The AOD and E4OD are heavy pigs but even a harbor freight tranny jack can handle it.

But one of those 2 things sounds right on point.
