Super Jealous...
Anybody good with rare Mitsubishi parts from the mid 2000's?
So the Evo is running pretty good BUT it still doesn't feel perfect, especially when under full load in 3rd at like 6 grand. I reckon the in-tank fuel filter/fuel pump holder/fuel sender holder is a bit blocked. Now buying a new one should be easy like every other in-tank filter but it fucking aint. There are literally no listings for a EVO 8/9 fuel filter from our workshop part suppliers, ebay had one listing for a used assembly which was ~$400 and Mitsubishi dealers sell the entire assembly (pump, filter, sender) for the same price because apparently the filter is supposed to be a 'life time item' or something well fuck you this car spent months at a time sitting before I bought it.
Then there's this shop https://www.lancershop.com/customer/product.php?productid=1396
Which when if you search the part number (which is different to the one on my filter) it shows something completely different to what I have.
https://www.lancershop.com/customer/product.php?productid=1396
This is the only 'proper' listing I've seen so far. But they dont ship to Australia...
pls help

I stuck the part number provided on your 'proper' listing into ebay, found a seller that will ship to Aus.

I'm not sure what kind of shitty gas you/previous owners would be putting into an Evo that would clog up a fuel strainer though. I'd bet money on it being a fuel pump before a fuel strainer. Maybe you should just go with a upgraded fuel pump which will come with a new filter sock too.

That part number also seems to look like this thing, I'm not sure you have the right one.
Oh hi,
Since last time i posted a lot of stuff happened..
I've moved to my own house, I bought a new audi, and i think i've already told some of you that my sister crashed my Volvo amazon..
Started tearing down the front of the car, so it's repairable..
The audi gave me trouble, turned out not only one of the injectors were at fault, but they all had broken spring retainers while taking the rocker arms off (so luckily i had 4 spare injectors from an engine we swapped some months ago (like 2800ddk a piece)
Also 20's Kleemann 9x20 and 10.5x20 going to rock this summer with airride...

No! Not the Amazon! :(
I forgot to take pics of what I did inside the door sill, but whatever

That ugly lump of weld is because thin plates because rust.. I kinda just had to fill it with weld.
Why aren't you stacking dimes, brah?

Sexy welds.
Also, the 2.2/2.5 Dodge engine is a god.

You really can't kill the 2.2 or 2.5 very easily with out doing something haphazardly stupid and deliberate shit.
My moms old K car only died after an exploded piston and 3 head gaskets on un-plained heads. The piston was of course replaced, but the car had to make a ~200 mile trip home in order to get fixed the first time.
AAHHAHAHHAHAH

got that fucker injector out without pulling the head. I chiseled it down a ways, then went digging through my grandpas stuff and found a big square screw extractor that eventually worked. Now maybe when I get back on sunday I can finish my witch hunt for the air intrusion.
Just pray theres no metal particulates in the cylinder, might be a good idea to try and hit it with a wet/dry vac down the injectors hole to get any that might be there.
May or may not actually work, avoid using any flammable liquids or sprays to loosen anything that may be sticky. I speak from experience. :downs:
Jesus what a relief.. I was sweating just reading that saga.

Towards the beginning of the chiseling, I had a pencil jammed down the injector hole, the second half of it, I used a chunk of scotch brite to block it off, and regularly blew compressed air in the glow plug hole (and out the injector hole) for good measure. I used plenty of dangerous liquids to soak the thing, including deep creep, pb blaster, wd40, B12, ATF/acetone mix, and electrical cleaner. Before putting the sticks back in I turned it over and blew anything that was in the bore out. Still, theres probably enough chemicals in the oil now to move up the next oil change by 2k miles or so.

Makes a neat looking desk trinket to flip off and glare at occasionally
Well thats good, I wasnt sure there would be any room to put something to keep shit from getting in there. Good on ya man.
I wasnt as lucky. My situation was as thus: remove jammed sparkplug, tap threads and insert helicoil for repair with out removing the head.
Was not a very fun day, the vac was not all too pleased with combustible gasses running through it either, turning it fairly effectively into a massive electric flame thrower in my front yard.
The vac did not survive.

Welding thick steel is piss easy. Welding thin plates like I do is completely different.
Can anyone explain the method of motion to actually get a weld to look like that? Or is it something you have to show directly to really get the method down.

Yeah, I don't want to hear excuses. Drop dimes like you at strip club.
I can't remember who here owns and NSX... Clutch2?
I found this a while back about swapping an engine into the NSX that's lighter, more power, and smaller in size.

No shit. I don't consider myself a good welder by any means, but even I can make pretty nice looking welds on thick box tube. Crank up the mig, pull the trigger and zig zag.
Before the injector battle I was working on welding up a frame for an undisclosed project, and I ran out of argon half way through. Aside from the oxidation on the welds, you can't even tell.
Everyone welds differently in in different patterns. The main goal is to stay UNIFORM.

Sadly all I have is a fluxcore wirefeed welder, but I shall give this a shot and see how it turns out.
If anything I'll retrofit my welder with a gas feed line and MAKE it work the way I want.
Another variant I know is to sway the tip back and forth as you weld, making a sort of wave pattern

I dont weld, but god damn do I want to learn how.
I dont weld, but god damn do I want to learn how.
It's really easy to do basic welding and super useful to know. Keep an eye out on Craigslist or something, you can pick up a used basic mig welder for dirt cheap. Then grab some scraps and practice.
Swapped my summers out last night. Sensei got excited by my lucky strikes, as expected.

I tried using a hammer to clearance my floor for my t-case once, gave up after two swings and happily BRRTRTRTRTRTRTR'd it with my airhammer instead.
Your truck looks awesome.
Fucking end me.
I genuinely want a Suzuki Wagon R
I got my cowl wrapped in black vinyl today, poorly done spray paint gold begone!

My Carputer is refusing to boot in this cold, so I ordered a Raspberry Pi 2 to throw OpenELEC on so I can hack together a working machine that will at least play my music on the touch screen. It won't run my customized Winamp skin that I'm used to at this point, but I might be able to modify an XBMC / Kodi skin to work for my needs.
I'm also tempted to try one of those "Compute sticks" or a cheap chinese Windows 8.1 machine that's essentially a tablet motherboard shoved in a plastic case, the Intel NUC was a bad idea for Northern Ontario.
I don't want to put too much effort or money into it right now, I'm still pretty set with getting a new car in the spring / summer. Android Auto is going to be a must, preferably OEM but aftermarket would probably do the trick if I really fall in love with another car.
