Anyone able to guess what would cause this? I have this hydraulic reservoir in my car for the rear suspension (self leveling suspension). For the past few days, the hydraulic reservoir VERY VERY slowly creeps upwards in the level of hydraulic fluid when the engien is off. We're talking 6 hours for it to creep a few cm above the max line. Here's a picture after sitting over night: [t]http://i.imgur.com/jc3DxYE.jpg[/t] And here's a picture 30 seconds after I turned the engine on, back down to normal level: [t]http://i.imgur.com/x8F6tfl.jpg[/t] My guess is that the leveling valve is leaking internally, so that the weight of the car is quite literally pushing the fluid out of the rear struts and into the reservoir. Anyone have better ideas?

Also Citroën's with somewhat similar system lowered themselves when parked to relieve stress on the valves. Bet it's gonna be pricey to fix properly, doesn't most people just swap in ol' fashioned suspension into those Mercedes' when the hydraulic suspension shits itself?

It has coils in the back as well so it will never actually lower enough for it to literally sit on the ground. And yes, most of them have been converted to conventional suspension but I won't give up! I've spent way too much money on that suspension for me to give up because of this. Eh, I'll leave it like it is, it's not like it's giving me issues at all. It pumps up the rear suspension instantly when you turn on the car. Bonus picture because I used 2½ hours on detailing it today [t]http://i.imgur.com/yq6IV2Z.jpg[/t]

If the car rides like a buckboard, check the spheres. Do not swap out the SLS for regular suspension. If it falls down after sitting for a while or rides low in the back, check the struts and the leveling valve for leaks. Pray it's a shot accumulator (these fuckers wear out every 60k miles, are also called spheres, are filled with nitrogen and have a diaphragm, and give the car it's Germanic-ride-ness)
Nothin but trouble, I tell you. I started fiberglassing a pair of door panels for a friend last night.. in the basement. Smelled really bad, right. I ran out of resin halfway through so I busted out some older resin I had from, well, some time long ago. Doesn't appear to be hardening, so it'll be off with the sticky gross cloth and wrap again and coat with some good, new resin. Ah well. Then tonight it was time to shoot primer on the moped paint project I've been prepping for another friend. He rigged up a spray booth in his garage complete with an elevated floor and then he drilled a bunch of holes in it and hooked up a vacuum. Let me tell you how well that worked. It didn't. Primer isn't supposed to burn your eyes from it making the room cloudy, lol. Uncomfortable, but it's over. Now to continue the sanding before the real show. And then we ordered materials to liquid wrap another friend's Audi A4 in a wild orange pearl setup. But before that there's some body work to take care of rust starting.. if only it would creep up above the mid 40's around here, gr.

Firm in corners but nice and comfortable over bumps. I recently saw Kent Bergsma's video on the W123 wagon suspension and it only oscillates once after I shake the rear around. Tbh I just think the leveling valve at the back has an internal leak, so when there's no pressure on the system, the weight of the car slowly pushes the hydraulic fluid in the back into the reservoir. Weird though, it doesn't sit lower after parking it for a day or so.
there's a 1987 nissan laurel for sale in good condition and i don't have the money for it :suicide:

His reservoir would either overflow or just spill its guts all over the garage. We ended up rebuilding the pump and replacing the rubber lines that ran to the metal hardlines throughout the body. My guess in your situation as the suspension appears to be functioning as intended, and the level is consistent (even if it's weirdly consistent being that high), my assumption is that when the car is off the system relieves pressure and allows fluid to make its way back to the reservoir. If pressure remained high while the car was stationary, it would place unnecessary load on the pump, actuators, lines, and seals. When you turn on the car the pump pushes fluid to the actuators, and voila, the reservoir sits at the appropriate level. Imo, don't trip potato chip. Although the fluid should NOT be that dark, you might want to consider a flush/bleed/replacement of your rubber lines, as those are probably disintegrating and causing the change in color. So, a few friends and I managed to kick off the car scene in the Swindon area. What started out as a small meet between a few friends quickly grew into a 200+ car meet! Was a pretty cool night and I'm glad we've started something, just a shame I'm leaving Swindon next month :( I complained about not having any car meets earlier in the thread so I went out and made one :v: Also have some media. this MX-5 made me laugh. I worked on my Opel Kadett C City today. We fixed a lot of rust, but I forgot to take some good pictures. I did take a quick pic at the end though: [t]http://i.imgur.com/LXDywNO.jpg[/t] The car runs great, but it looks like crap. The orange near the grill is anti-rust, not rust, luckily. It's going to be dark blue in the end.
i'm planning on saving for an mr2 aw11 sc and im on the east coast right now but i want to move back home to seattle before starting. There is a 42k mile sc aw11 for 9k in new jersey hnnng i love this car but that is so much money there is one in my hometown, north of seattle, for 5k but it looks meh and has 200k miles [editline]18th March 2016[/editline] i wish i never wrecked my na miata, she only had 66k miles :'(
Oh man, spent 3 hours driving to a friend's house and back to grab one of those things to power flush radiators in a last attempt to try and fix my 4runner overheating. Decide to check one more thing before we flush it....fan was blowing the wrong way, cancelling out the airflow of moving forward making there no airflow over the radiator when moving. Reversed wires that power it and it was all good. Drove it for 4 hours straight tonight, even thrashing it through sand and it hasn't overheated at all. Lucky as I was nearly ready to give up on it :v:
Cleaned the throttle body of my golf today. I really need to make myself a oil catch can, the amount of "shit" that gathered in the throttle body and around is unbelievable. No wonder the idle was bad
Just sold my shitbox DD Golf3 TD. Which only makes sense as I bough a Audi A4 b6 TDI that I got for cheap by a friends boss who wanted it off his lot just as fast as he got it in.
I just got the new rims on an hour ago. That helped a lot I must say. They sit perfectly flush in the wheel wells! Now it just needs a cleanup and a lowering.
lol it hasn't happened yet. believe me I want it to happen, but I still think it's unlikely.
I don't get why they'd bother to add in a retractable hardtop instead of just going for a coupe. Like the new gen stuff they've done just seems excessive and counter-intuitive against the concept/philosophy of the car! At least the "angry" styling looks great in my opinion.
