Automotive Addicts Lounge V4 - Lube my pistons, baby

Bleeeh. Tonight I painted the majority of the parts for my friend's moped. He had made that goofy downdraft booth setup thing and added a big squirrel fan to suck the fumes out. Didn't. Work. At. All. By the time I was done spraying base I was all red. It was gross. I'm sure it was bad for my health, too. Had to wait 5 minutes between each cup of paint for it to clear out. Useless.
Then I tried to spray clear. Oh lord. I shot maybe 1/3 a cup and it was fog city. That wasn't going to happen.
Then my other buddy there says "man.. we should've just set up a fan" and that sprang to life the new idea. We took a normal fan and cut a square in the side of the spray booth thing. Taped the plastic to the fan all around, turned it on.. voila. It sucked the sides of the booth in it worked so good. What a friggin shit show.. but at least I could spray clear without dying at that point. A respirator is only good if it can filter shit out of air.. if there's only shit and no air you suffocate and die :(
Just have a few more parts to finish up with tomorrow and then that fun ordeal is over. I hope I didn't get cancer.. honestly. I have never gotten that full of over spray when painting ever. Never again.
Clutch sama, what should I be angry at when my headunit momentarily shuts down after a high volume bass hit?
yo post pics of the moped I love mopeds
Hey! Since you guys are on the topic of RB motors, I was thinking about putting a LS in my 300zx now, but now, what about a RB20DET or RB25DET? I'm not sure how much its going to run me for both swaps, but I figured it might be a bit cheaper for a RB motor since it is Nissan and I could probably keep my driveshaft and rear end.
So I'm thinking more and more about this car.
https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5503794636.html
I want to learn stick, and it's cheap. Plus, it seems to be the perfect candidate for ratting it out. These things are easy to work on, right?
I'd pay $300 for that piece of shit tops. Any of the following $1000 cars would be nicer than a ruined STD EF. There's also a good reason there's no interior shots of the vinyl seats, most likely there is not much of them left.

No idea on what the swap would entail but RB's typically have the rep of being super thrashed so I would teardown a motor with any sort of suss history.
RB stands for run bearing ;)
I was under the impression the RB30 was a truck motor which came in like the Nissan Patrol and some other similar large vehicles? I just assumed it would be extremely cheap while still being on the RB platform. It wasn't really a serious recommendation but rather a example of similar motors on a platform being vastly cheaper to it's "high performance" counterparts just because it's from a different class of vehicle in Japan or something. I've never heard of them in the states so I assume no one actively cuts up those vehicles and sells them to a market where they didn't get imported to.
The RB30E was available in Nissan Patrols (4 x 4) as a petrol option. Nissan R31 Skylines that were assembled in Australia with live axle rear ends (ew). there where 'performance spec' versions of RB30 on the R31 but still in a naturally asperated form. Finally the RB30ET (yes turbo) can be found the Holden VL Commodore.
From what I understand the RB30 was NOT an option on any Japanese market vehicle, any found in Japan have have been imported from Australia (based on internet posts i've seen).
They are imported back to japan to make a RB30/26 hybrid (3 litre block, 2.6 head) also common in australia for obvious reasons.

How long did it take to get updated?
I've passed 2-3 street view cars at this point, the first was a year ago and was never updated. I passed another this week.

A lot of those Honda's really seem like death traps, accidents waiting to happen, etc.
Even the stock ones are in really bad shape.
I wouldn't buy any of them, not at those prices.
So I'm scrolling through my facebook when suddenly, Supra.

I was like "hey, there aren't many Supras in Denmark, maybe it's Ferosso's".

Hey there are some audi guys on here, right? Figured I'd ask knowing DP's history with his, I have a 2003 A4 with two really minor but fucking annoying problems. First, the windshield wipers won't stay down in a normal position after wiping, they just stand straight up like their heiling. I can put them down before I turn on the car and they'll stay there until I need the wipers, then they'll return to their incorrect apparently excited to see me position. Second is this thing seem to blow the right turn signal every 4-6 weeks which is annoying as hell because it takes 45 minutes just to get everything out and able to swap the bulb. Stupid turd is driving me insane but 5 speed 1.8 turbo awd is too fun to get rid of
Mazda says the retractable hard top will add 175-200lbs

I checked every week for 3 months, after that I just kinda gave up. I have also passed goobo of the and yet to been uploaded except this one. And I have noticed if the driver put in notes "congested / roadwork" that those photos will not be uploaded.

1) Sounds like the wiper assembly does not know were its at in life.
http://www.audiforums.com/forum/audi-a4-8/hello-please-help-wipers-stay-stuck-middle-windshield-165657/
2) Has someone installed a trailer package to it? Their really no way that is giving it too much voltage but their could be a issue with it getting hot and moisture getting in the fixture... Try LEDS.
[editline]sijfg[/editline] And on a serious note I never had that exact issue with the wipers. One time the relay was falling out of the socket wile I was going down the interstate at a high rate of speed with the wipers on full....... I wondered why I had intermittent wipers and they would work when I beat my legs against the relay area. And If I turned my wipers on full the slack in the wiper arms would allow the wipers to strike the side of the windshields metal edge bits. Sounded like some one beating the side of the car.
I loved that car, One of the best and most comfortable vehicles I've ever drove 110+ to dallas and back and it not giving a single fuck. I loved how it had insane amount of control, took snow and large puddles of water stupidly well. Also never do skids with the wheel pointing NOT the direction you all of a sudden don't wanna go. If that underseering front end decides it wants to grip. Your going wherever your wheels are pointed. I learned that lesson one too many times hooning in the rain.
Reminds me, I need new front fenders and rear bumper for my 2002 A4
Fenders are amazingly the only thing rusty on and under it, and the bumper has a tow hitch crack/hole after PO's wife trying to reverse it in the parking lot of a hardware store.
Is the Dual exhaust tip bumper exclusive to the V8 A4 or were it also to 1.8T?

Can never bring a passenger because it won't be worth the extra weight! "Sorry, my RHT weighs as much as you do, and I like the RHT more, so find another ride"
Speaking of Miatas, my crank-but-no-spark issue occurred again yesterday! It at least started fine twice today. When I tried un/replugging the ECU like suggested, I couldn't even unplug like they (the guys that I bought it from) did. Very stubborn cables that's for sure. But at the same time it might not even be an ECU connection problem. Again, the wires are mint, and if they are secured in there so well, I suspect it's a different set of wires causing this issue. Reading around, possible the ignition switch? Cam position sensor (that was actually apparently swapped when the guy came over the house to look at it)? I mean it wouldn't be the plugs or coil pack since we swapped for a different coil pack, and the plugs, even though most likely original, must have another 10-20k miles left in them. And a starter issue wouldn't crank the engine, right? So wtf makes little sense for such a low mileage example!

I've seen very few dual exhaust (one on each side) a4s. Judging by photos even the S4 has single duals.
You can get on ETKA and it will tell you what goes were and what year.

They're $1000 cars, I'm not sure how you could consider them to be deathtraps though more so than a beat EF with door mounted seatbelts which rarely even work and no airbags. Sure a few of them were beyond rusty but I wouldn't call them unsafe just only because the fenders are gone. The car he posted looked like a more abused piece of shit than roughly 1/3rd the ones I posted. Unfortunately most people subscribe to the "it's just a shitty civic" way of thinking and destroy these poor cars for the sake of destroying them which are far better than most comparable cars or almost everything in it's price bracket.
He wants to buy a $1000 car and lives where cars older than 10 years old should be scrapped due to rust, he's not going to find anything nice and even if he does it's going to be completely ruined by salt in a few years of driving anyways.

I'll get pics of the moped parts tonight.. it's an old Sears 49cc thing. Pretty neat. My friend already opened up the garage and looked at what I did last night and apparently they're lookin real slick. Can't wait to seeee.
I know I don't post here often, but my baby was vandalized last night, only about £30 worth of damage done but still a right pain. Driver side door mirror unit knocked off, mirror smashed, trim all on the floor, it all feels so violating :(

Though so, seems like it's catalog extra on some of the "sportier" engines (1.8t and V6 gasoline, thus not OEM on diesels), While the V8 model is called S4, and actually has a slightly different rear bumper, even though it's also bolt-on if correct body-shape (stationcar, sedan, etc)
Ironically I'm gonna slap it on a diesel if I can get one used-but-good-condition with the same color (boring middle management silver) along with rear muffler assembly and mounting brackets.
Or just the lower-lip portion and have the rest patched up a little bit better and repainted + source the OEM mounting HW and mufflers myself..
Part No. seems to be 8E9-807-521-A or 8E9-807-521-G for the dual-tip lower bumper lip

The S4 and A4 bumpers are not interchangeable. The S vehicles are wider. I would post longer but I'm driving to Dallas at the moment.

Like those parts would even be affordable anyways, which is why I didn't check out the details.
My dad sent me pictures of this old Detroit V16 sitting at his work.

Just the headunit to speakers. It's a sony Xplod and the display dims under high volume sound as well.
