Automotive Addicts Lounge V4 - Lube my pistons, baby

Im taking the ac unit off my chrysler completely It wont fit on with the new intake and it reached the threshold of pissing me off enough that I never want to deal with it again.
Got a conversion kit on order.
Not like the damn thing worked anyway.
Well the truck runs and drives again. I guess tomorrow will be the test of weather or not I fixed the hard starting problem. I had to use the ol gas soaked rag on the intake trick to start it up the first time after bleeding it. I guess Im gonna carry around an old dishrag and some gas in a jug from now on.
Anyways, heres the project Ive been working on.

A really over-engineered comealong winch
Enuffff of this below zero nonsense. I don't know how I survived two winters ago when it didn't get above zero for like, two weeks. Two days and I'm sick of it.
My car wouldn't even idle this morning for a few minutes, so the remote start was useless. I had to sit out there and baby it on the gas to keep it around 1000rpm otherwise if left to its own devices the idle would drop down to like 400rpm, chug, then die. Gross.
I did take some time during lunch to pull the throttle body and clean the IAC passages and stuff, though. Kinda gunked up.. it's idling at like 1200rpm when it's warm now, so that's new. I dunno if it's good.. but it might help the cold starts? lol.
We did a "purge" in the garage today, threw a buncha shit out, put all the tools back, moved shit around. Should be good for another 2 weeks haha!

Typical VW. Unless you really need to, don't use your handbrake in winter, they always get water in them and freeze. Which year Golf did you have? I know the older VWs used drums for the handbrake, not sure about the newer ones.

This happened to me once but it ended up being due to a seized rear brake caliper. Hope that's not the case for you
looking good.
if I were doing it, it would take twice as long and be an abomination of booger welds and bondo.
Its a 2000 Golf mk4
It has rear disc brakes
Not all cars with rear disc brakes have disc brake handbrakes, but it seems yours does.

Yeah i know what you mean.
Yesterday I watched with teary eyes as my fat ugly beast thumped its way into the sunset, bellowing smoke beyond 4500 rpm as always, leaving behind naught but a drop of oil. She served me well, yes, but now is time for another motorcycle to occupy the dark place in my wallet. After 4 long months, I had completed the lengthiest of my restorations.

Here fix this :v:
motorcycle restos are fun. i cant wait to get back to work on mine. gotta change the transmission, repaint the tank, bedliner the saddlebags, reroute some cables, rewire the lights, and build an adjustable backrest. at the very least.

Well yeah, I assume it didn't come from the dealer like this.
That guy must be smoking crackkkk (or need lots of money to do so).
My Corollabortion is pissing me off. The cleaning/ tweaks I did to it yesterday didn't help much, still tries to idles at like 400rpm when I first start it when it's below 0*. Give it a little gas and it's happy and idles where it should after like 30 seconds or less. It's getting plenty of gas, can smell it when I try to just start it with the key and no extra pedal..
Plugs are 30k old, and looked fine when I checked on them. I'm almost feeling like tossing a new set in 'just because'. Hmm.
Just bought everything I need to install a nexus 7 as a headunit in the e46, unless something unexpected comes up $170 including the cost of the tablet. will take some pics when its done, was tired of the old whining stock one, and always wanted to try putting a tablet in my car.
Pulleys are on the way eager to get that AC unit out of there.
May put it back on if my plan to move to the US goes as id settle somewhere warm.
Oh woah new thread. Just letting ya'll know I'm still alive. It's just very difficult to get online while switching ISP's, so the minimal time I have I use to check fb for oddjobs and that's about it. Still waiting on a large payment to pull the slant out of the dart and rebuild. A lady I did work for is getting close to going on 2 months without paying me for remodeling her entire restaurant. I'm having to lein the business it looks like, but we'll see what happens.
Mostly just lurk here but I snapped a photo before doing some snownuts
yo bro u drift??? nice jdm motor
Haha nah, I DD it. And there aren't really any tracks nearby anyway.
Can't blame me for having a bit of fun when I find an empty parking lot though. :v:
[sp]It's technically USDM, no turbo for me but at least the seatbelts are automatic[/sp]
Are we still posting our cars covered in snow?

Past two days were the first big snow of the season.
covered in now is so 2015. This year we're doing encased in ice or summer tire highway meet up
I swapped in some new plugs on the Corollabortion.. and it started right up good this morning! Sometimes things are easy I guess :v:
Then I went to the shop I work at sometimes to do a heater core in an F150, 3 hours open and shut, dash out, dash in.. feeling like a boss.
Now I'm gonna go see my buddy's new R-32! Oh boy.
Then to a local town to check out an Eclipse with a blown engine to maybe buy... rust free Arizona body so he says.
