Automotive Addicts Lounge V4 - Lube my pistons, baby

I have the space for tons of cars, problem is I nearly get kicked out of my house everytime I bring anything home.
I really want a Mk2 Supra but I'd either have to sell the AW11 or the Subie and maaaan I don't wanna do that
So, today I picked up a v6 2005 Tacoma Prerunner Sport TRD for $9750. It has 165k miles, so it's a bit on the high side. The interior is a bit dirty and the exterior is a bit scuffed, but it drives nice and it'll clean up well. No oil leaks and it passes smog no problem.
Thats only if they catch you ;)
The other 10% i get the registration/bill of sale signed but I dont put any of my info on it and the next buyer just puts their stuff down.
That's curbstoning. The Man doesn't like that, since they lose out on tax revenue.

They're great cars if you can find one in good shape. Parts are uncommon and expensive though. Honestly, probably not too different from your aw11 though.

That I6 sound
Really? It feels like you're buying a new truck every other week.
Average time is every third week, depends on what I'm doing really and what vehicles come up. Its a nice hobby/source of side income.
@DPkiller
Hahaha yeah I guess you're right! I'm just so used to it that I dont consider it as worth mentioning all the fancy doo-dads. It'd be like a damn list... "1969 Pro-Mod Plymouth Barracuda Full Tube chassis twin 91mm turbo 528 billet hemi" wheeeeeeez *cough* *cough* lotta shit to say
@CptVague
Private sale. Why should I have to pay taxes on selling my shit? Government didnt do dick all to improve the condition of the car, advertise it, deal with tirekickers, and sell it, and even if they took a tax its not like it would help a buyer from getting curbstoned.
Alberta is lucky, in BC they take 12 or 15% of a vehicles purchase price for tax because fuck you. Oh, you bought a $20000 car private sale? Bend over because we want $3000 ON TOP OF THE FUCKING PAYED AMOUNT
FUCK YOU (government)
sorry. Sensitive subject.
Woo just had my first actual race on dry conditions (previous one was on a wet track with slicks :v:)
Ended up 2nd place out of 47. Pretty damn sweet considering I was forced off track in the first fucking corner dropping to 16th place. Will post a video soon for those who care
so copper-nickel lines are the tits. This was the first time I've actually been hyped while doing brakelines.
All my MJ needs now is some coolant and it's ready to burn these shitty bald tires for youtube. and then to attempt DDing.
I'm so ready boys, straightpiped with a 5spd I missed this so much ;~;
So the clutch is stuck engaged. Tried all the tricks for freeing it that didn't involve dropping the trans with no luck; and the hydraulics are def working fine. what a pain in the ass.

Anyone here have any experience with editing video's? I have 3 camera angles, yet no idea on how to make a video out of it :v:

I feel 3 angles at the time time might become messy and annoyingly busy.
How does one get into this sort of thing? Is this your vehicle?

You need the bad luck of being introduced to racing by a friend, which results in a life-long addiction. Then you need to surrender to spending 99% of your income on it.
But yeah, that's my car. Friend introduced me and was hooked right away.
There's really no "easy" way in. Just look in your area for beginner classes and then build a car for it.
money

Ah nice. I wouldnt say I have the disposable income to build a dedicated racing car that I cant use as a daily driver yet, but I'll be sure to give it a try someday!

theres always autocross as a cheaper competitive alternative
theres always autocross as a cheaper competitive alternative
Yeah that's what I'm starting to get into already. It's a blast! I would like to get to go on a real track someday though rather than going through cones.
money
This X 100000.
I'm not rich by any means, I have a normal income and I work 6 days a week just to race 1 day a month. You need to sacrifice quite a lot to race.
As long as I have the throttle body before the supercharger, I wont need a BOV right?
Eaton M90.

It's before I adjusted the ignition timing which is why I touched it just to try :v:
Wow, that makes me feel like shit, I totally butchered that carb kit and gave up, then butchered a Weber 5532 setup.
It's running on three cylinders and doesn't idle, but it's drivable now at least.
I gotta get some expert help :v:

Great race dude! You honestly looked like you weren't even pushing 100%, as if you could have pushed harder if desired. Very smooth and composed racing. I bet, though, that wobbly gear shifter must be a pain at times. You didn't seem to miss any shifts, but I thought I saw you at least searching for the stick a few times. Also, was this multi class racing? Was a bit hard to tell.
Mind if I ask what the starting out costs are? When I looked in to karting at one time, it seemed to immediately spend anywhere from $5k-$15 to invest in a kart and necessary gear. Used karts obviously save you thousands, and while cheap in the grand scheme of racing, it still wasn't something I could afford on my own.
I don't think Spec Miata is something I could do either, which again, is a series praised for it's approach-ability and "low" running costs. I don't think prepping the car leaves you with any room for street legality either. So I'm settling for autocross and trackdays, but am looking in to hillclimbs as well.

Thanks for watching! I was actually pushing really fucking hard, but I started on (what turned out) to be really old used slicks with too much heat cycles on them which ment that they had fuck-all grip. So it doesn't quite justify in the video how hard I was pushing the balance of the car. It was also my very first race on dry conditions so I still had to get used to the actual high density racing ect.
The gear shifter is fine, just my nerves fucking up at the start :v:
It was 2 classes racing. Touring and B18 (B18 = E36 compacts).
I really am not great at giving out advice about the costs ect, but for example this race cost me about 1000 euro's in tires, fuel and fee's. And that's only stuff that I paid for that specific day, not mentioning everything else that wears out and needs replacing all the time.
I guess the cheapest way would be to get a track-ready E30 for say 3000-4000 euro (That's on the low side), get your licence (2k - 5k) depending on the company ect and then count in about 500 euro per weekend of driving in the E30 cup.

SMs can be street legal IIRC, I just don't think they'll be quite as competitive as the dedicated cars

Get into the 24 Hours of LeMons. $500 for the car + ~$1500 for the safety equipment depending on how much you do yourself.
and another $500 for registration and something like $200 per person on your crew
I think a good, less goofy alternative to LeMons is ChumpCar
[editline]28th March 2016[/editline]
ok it's still goofy but maybe a little less
