I said hoping god damnit. I'd buy it if I get a cluster.
If not, I'll settle for a 90kWh model S
Good news! Turns out the tranny leak is just my overflow flowing out. I put in trans fluid when the dipstick read really low and I must have overfilled it.
Well, at 1,5L I imagine it'd make a hell of a lot of noise if you started it up. You didn't start it up, did you?
honestly some bmw engines take it really well, my dad has run his m50b20 on 2 liters of oil for ages because he's an idiot, we filled it up and it sounded proper and ran proper and everything. I think it burns a bit of oil after that but it still runs good.
Weather has finally gotten nice out, hozed off and insured the pavement princess. Got a couple cool things planned for it this year!
Biggest thing I missed when I got in it was the sound system fuckin' rages compared to the shitty basemodel one in my other truck, spent all day listening to Pantera

Stop making me want a big ass truck.
If only fuel prices weren't about 10usd a gallon here :/
Spent most of the afternoon installing a dash cam and rigging it so it turns on and off using the parking brake.
Are you sure you actually want it to turn off though? It would probably be better to have another battery that could be separated by a relay when the ignition is off if you don't want anything draining your battery.
I've seen plenty of accidents recorded by parked cars, and several cases of vandalism that wouldn't be solved if the camera was turned off when parked.

Some models of dashcans can be set to automatically turn on and record if it detects motion from an impact.
That is probably a good idea and I did upgrade the battery in the car a few years ago to a deep cycle cell twice the rating of the car but there's another part of the circuit I didn't yet install which is a GPS and datalogger and the idea is that so long as the brake is out (or if I just leave it parked in gear) the car constantly generates a video and location log.

If you had a motor then 4 cylinders I would honestly say a deep cycle is not entirely the best maybe paired with a good starting battery it would be okay. Sense your a man of ~technology~ look up Li-po4 batteries they make them for cars would not hurt them to start even a 18 wheeler plus they have a nice AH rating.
[editline]2nd April 2016[/editline]
YOU BROKE MY MERGE FUCK YOU
Nah, I chose to go deep cycle because there's also an inverter built into the car. I can run a light or two for quite a while and the battery does recover a little in the event that I completely discharge it, which I have done by accident when the charging lug broke off my alternator. It has saved my ass two or three times now.

LiFePo4 batteries are more finicky when charging compared to good ol' lead-acid, so ideally you'd need a alternator regulator that's both more precise voltage wise, set to output at ideal voltage for a LiFePo4, AND temperature compensated with a temp sensor at the battery.
That said, they DO pack more of a punch AH wise compared to their size and weight.
[editline]2nd April 2016[/editline]
Also "dual mode" lead acid's exist meant for smaller autocampers, which are a combo of a starter battery and a deep-cycle battery.

Never looked into the logistics of the life batteries, honestly I don't believe my super OP rc airplane charger even does temperature compensation.
Yes the good ol marine batteries. Hate thoes things, I've seriously seen more dead marine battery s than any type of battery. People either think they are a deep cycle or they try to pull their entire CCA every time. And they honestly will do neither. So o many horror stories so little time. Interstate Batteries even gave us a pontoon boat to use to rescue boats on lake Palestine because of their battery going dead. And the dealer when he came in would say "So how many do I have to load back up?"
Might be because interstate batts were trash but honestly the same technology applies to the entire industry and they all suck.

I've spent well over $40k usd in gas in the past 10 years, possibly closer to 60k. don't buy a truck

The vast majority are that way.
Personally;
My truck has two 550CCA batteries. I can leave the camera recording, truck off, for a solid 4-5 hours with no noticeable drop. It still has more than enough juice to run glow plugs and start it.
I leave it plugged in when I'm out and about for the day, unplug it when its parked in my driveway.
I would'nt rig it to shut off with the handbrake, even in an auto, because of how often it would unintentionally shut it off, in my case anyways.
So... I got an oil change yesterday, at 5k miles, and my mechanic tells me he only got 2 qts out of my car that takes 6....
I just added 1/2 a qt because I was low and over 2k miles; and my dipstick read as being slightly above max.
Uh.... How do you fuck up reading a dipstick, me?
So i'm looking at insurance for a 2001 Volvo s40, progressive wants 250/month (350 to start) for bare ass state minimum coverage, where Geico only wants 127 for everything a bit above min. and basic comprehensive, and I only need to pay the first months payment. Can someone tell me why? Did dI fuck up? I'm 18 male in Massachusetts if that matters. Also geico doesn't have the 2001 s40 in their drop down only 2002, is that because the first "model year" of the s40 was 2002 despite it being made and sold in 2001?

You wiped and then dipped right?
You wiped and then dipped right?
It wouldn't even read if it were that low, before or after wiping, at least on my Subaru.
If it were changed hot, it's likely that some stays in the engine. My Subaru holds 1qt in the heads when hot, it takes 4+ hours to fully drain down to the pan.
As far as checking the oil; by the book, it's supposed to sit overnight, on flat ground. Pull the stick, wipe it clean, slowly slide it back in, pull it out and check the reading. Then, check one more time the same way.

My truck has two 820cca batteries, get some, nerd.
When I was hooking up my reverse camera, I only had a always hot wire to the back of the truck, so I left it on all the time. Days at a time, and the batteries didnt notice at all. Since then Ive put that hot wire on a relay so its only on when the key is on.
Buuuut I had to cut the plug off the video cord to fit it through the firewall and was too lazy to solder it back on, so i taped the wires together and it cuts out sometimes.

Once you actually put in your VIN, the year will be sorted out with Geico.
As far as the rates and all that, Progressive has been the cheapest for me, though I was 21 when I got it and have a different class of vehicle. For my pickup, I believe it was $250 or so for 6 months of coverage. No accidents, no tickets, nothing on my record.

The biggest I can fit are 600CCA. The truck is all mechanical. Mechanical injection, fuel pump, etc. Once it's started, it doesn't take much to run it.
I've got a 950 cca commercial truck battery from napa but my truck will happily start on anything above 6 volts. I've had batteries so dead they won't even run the lights but are able to start the truck, then the whole thing runs off the alternator.

Yeah, that's why I'm quite confused, but, oh well. Just a bit worrying that sometimes it seems low, some times it's perfectly accurate and fine.

My trucks all mechanical too, but the starter motor is probably bigger than the motor in an electic prius.
This looks familiar.

That was when I first put a turbo on that car. Pathetic numbers compared to what it will do soon...
The guy at 1:28 was just kinda hanging out, and I like how "whatever" he looked. I think he was watching the screen where it only made 164rwhp on that second pull, and 234ft/lbs of torque then the distributor fucked out at 3500RPM. Literally a nice clean hill on the chart, then a squiggle line down to zero.
Also, just to be sure, ya know - to check. Everyone knows I only own two dodges and that's it correct?

For what its worth I never drive it, it stays parked for the winter/slimy days so it never costs much in fuel.
Lazy saturday so I did as any bored guy does and polished my shaft (I want to get some rubbing compound and get it to a mirror finish)

Wait, the Durango and the Orange Dart, what happened to the blue Dart with the Curtiss Custom rack?
Wait, the Durango and the Orange Dart, what happened to the blue Dart with the Curtiss Custom rack?
The Blue 1974 Dart got sold to my brother from another mother.
He will throw money at it as he restores it. He already bought new springs, fixed a few leaks, new exhaust etc... so it's in good hands, so now I can just focus on my '68 Dart.
I was referring to the Toyota. I did not buy that.
