I think I recall it may have been something with the TPS. Or maybe something is up with T-VIS?
Actually yeah check this out, now I remember:
http://www.matrixgarage.com/content/4age-tps-adjustment
Definitely give that a read, gave me a ton of good information when I was doing research for mine.
I'll check it out then and fiddle with it when I can.
It can't be my T-VIS because it happens around 3k RPM as opposed to 4,200, but maybe it could be the TPS. It seems to happen mostly when the engine's warmed up a little, but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
In Miata news...
This is probably the best deal I've ever seen on an NA, and it doesn't even seem like a scam. I emailed 18 hrs after the ad went live but I bet I'm like 50th in line. I'll drop whatever I'm doing to go buy that car though.
And this is basically the Miata that visits me in my dreams: all-stock white base model with 55k on the clock. I already regretting in advance having not bought it. Unfortunately that price tag is a little too real for me.
That first one, it's priced more like a hardtop that happens to include a car!
That white one ooooo! Priced only $200 less than what I payed for my 90, which had had half the miles, but rougher paint in comparison (better than the $2k one, but similar). And I can't forget the Borla exhaust and upgraded headers. VLSD instead of Torsen though :/
Also, I've at least got the lexan window trimmed and sealed the weatherstrip on over the weekend. So I'm in the home stretch with this CF hardtop hopefully! Just need to seal the window on, and attach the door window seals. Although that includes figuring out how to make the convertible version rails work, as well as trying to make the little holes for the underneath gasket on the top work. It's weird, the window seals seem to attach to the gasket on the ends. I guess I should take a picture to explain it better.
I dunno, I think that white is the worst stock Miata color. I think it looks best in reds and blues and greens and okay in blacks and other colors, but white is at the bottom of the list for me.
yellow is my favorite color for NA miatas, for NBs I don't hate red
yellow is my favorite color for NA miatas, for NBs I don't hate red
you basically chose the rarest colors corresponding to those generations :v:

No problem! Hopefully you can get it sorted out
Who just buys a car with no title?

Ugh, this thing is going to just go to waste probably.. I want it lol

I know yellow NAs are rare but there's like a dozen red NBs around here
I know yellow NAs are rare but there's like a dozen red NBs around here
Odd. I find the bright red NBs to be pretty far and in between. Silver and dark teal seemed to be the popular colors for that gen.
[editline]4th April 2016[/editline]
Ha, that red miata guy just raised his price to 2500. Probably opened up his email to 87 new messages. Still a super low price.
I almost never see silver NBs, it's almost all red, that dark teal, or a dark blue
Has anyone driven a Chevy Volt? I'm still leaning toward some sort of a manual hot hatch, though the thought of essentially never buying gas gets me pretty excited. But if it drives like my Cavalier fully loaded with passengers and luggage, fuck that, my life is boring enough as it is.

Matt Farah bought a Volt a while back, he seems to like it.

Have you driven a Cruze? If so, you've driven a Volt. It's about 7000% nicer than a Cavalier and looks like a spaceship. I say do it.

In my state anyways, it's easy to get a title. It just costs money, more than most want to spend.
no title is just an extra 50% of the car's value here. if you're buying an older car it's easy. the '72 bug I bought not long ago didn't have a title, but it was $600 so for the car, the title, fixing the rust, and getting it running I'm 2 grand all in
Yo so idk if I posted in here a while back about my car but the battery, even on a brand new battery dies if I don't at least turn it on for a bit every day pretty much, or if i drive a fair distance maybe 2-3 days of not turning it on for a while, but looked into it and seems other people had the same problem with the same model due to after-market alarm installations leading to some kind of a power gremlin situation, which i'm pretty confident is likely the same/similar situation with my car
anyway, not too concerned about that, what I am concerned about is that recently when it has died and i'd jumpstart it, there's a weird static/hissing sound coming from what seems to be the alternator (or alternator area), I'll record a video next time that happens, just wondering if anyone's encountered anything like that before?
the sound goes away after a while of the car running and it only seems to happen when I need to give the car a jumpstart, idk it's just odd, hope the alternator isn't about to die on me
I can almost guarantee you if you keep making the alternator recharge that battery from ded you will kill it. Doesn't matter who, what or how. You're making that alternator do a 100% Duty Cycle.
This is also another reason why people that get a brand new battery from xyz store later has a alternator issue, because the battery was so low it could crank the vehicle but caused the alternator to do so much it croked.
Get a fucking racing battery disconnect. Call it a day jesus.
[editline]fkhg[/editline] Fuck. Didn't mean to be so.... blunt.

cheers for the heads up, i'll take better care of my car, honestly i've considered just disconnecting the battery after driving, but a racing battery disconnect sounds far more convenient
I like white—especially in this context—because it lends to the "bare-bones-ness." Weird but true. Also it looks good to my eye.
I think the worst NA colors were all those dark blues on the 1.8s (Montego, etc). I generally don't like super dark colors.
Fuck you
Fuck you
it's ironic too because I totally want this now: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/5520451473.html

Im either just gonna slap in another carb from a predator 212cc and see if she will run or just slap a 212cc predator on her and be golden.
I came home from work to find my bike tipped over on the driveway, and the windshield shattered.

I guess this means my 60$ chineese windshield isnt actually lexan, and Ive got an amazon review to drop to 0 stars.

if you want to pay postage I have a brand new 212 carb that I can trade you for that one. I only ran it with that carb long enough for a benchtop break in before swapping in a different intake setup that better suited the aftermarket cam and valve springs
ordered a set of progressive 412 rear shocks a progressive fork kit and a springer base kit/rich phillips solo seat for the sportster today. That should fix the height problem my GF has with the bike (i'm 6'5" she's 5'1") she can ride it but she ain't flat footed so it gets a little hairy sometimes. although it was insanely fun riding today albeit a little funny looking with her on a stock sportster and me on my frankenbiked superhawk streetfighter (naked bike streetfighter tail section akrapovic highmount exhaust and the air box mod currently in flat black primer)

How much compression should this stupid thing have? I think I have more than just a carb issue at the moment. But it did not start doing this until I put a large load on it and bogged it down till it died multiple times.... Its only coughing out the intake and every other time backfiring. But if you get the plug dry and the combustion chamber dry it will cough and flood out....I think the 60psi of compression might have something to do with that.
yeah 60 PSI is on the weak side for sure. stock compression should be somewhere north of 115. make sure your head gasket isn't blown, make sure the head isn't warped, make sure the valve seats are good, make sure the rings are good.
In automotive news my third child was born last night. Emmet Maverick-Gunner who will be the most badass kid with a beard and horse by the age of 2.
So, I modeled my truck's sliding glass latch using some reference photos and sent it to a friend to 3d print. After some sanding, this thing looks almost factory!

Don't worry, I got my license the day before my 21st birthday. :v:
